Maybe the best of the Stone series...
Perhaps I was just in the right mood, but I devoured this one in two sittings, and the break I took in order to go to sleep was done regretfully. For a change, the actual suspense/mystery/thriller plot was better than the personal relationships depicted. Thus, it qualified for me as a hard-to-put-aside read. Stone teams up with "Crow", a guy supposedly from the dark side who does many right ...

Great Book To Keep
I have been through a few bad and good text books throughout my college career, but this had to be one of the best I ever picked up. It is easy to search through and actually makes the topics interesting to read.

Strategic Classic
This is simply a very important book in the scholarship of military and political strategy. It is required reading for generals and other military commanders (as well as leaders involved in strategic and tactical decisionmaking). Over 2,000 years old, written in the context of widespread feudal warfare in ancient China, it was written to provide useful advice to the political and military ...

A must read for any leader -- nonprofit or not
Bought the book for a class and have already given one copy as a gift and recommended the book to several others in leadership positions. Great read for leaders in any type organization. As a matter of fact, if you can motivate your people in a "for-profit" organization the way Drucker speaks of in this book, you can't help but be successful.

RICK "SHAQ" GOLDSTEIN SAYS: "YOUTH MYSTERY IS A KNOCKOUT!!"
This book is written by the author of the world famous Spenser and Jesse Stone mysteries (among others) Robert B. Parker. This is his second book targeted for the youth market, but I'll be the first to say adults will truly enjoy it also. The reader is first introduced to a shy, young, sad boy by the name of Jason Green. His Father had died and his Mother has buried what's left of her life in a ...

Stronger entry in Parker's Stone series
Robert Parker is one of those guys who writes so fast that he's got to have several series of books in order to keep from tiring out his main character. After all, his mainstay, Spenser, is the same age as Parker. Back 10 or 15 books ago, Spenser used to mention that he was a Korean War veteran. Most of those guys are AARP members, wonderful heroes and worthwhile people, but not that scary any ...

Saved my SLEEP!!
I am now a happy, WELL-RESTED 40 yr old due to this book (and another book: Natural Hormone Balance For Women by Dr. Uzzi Reiss) Both of these have saved my LIFE, most importantly my SLEEP! For the past few years (after having a 3rd child) from age 37 onward, I could no longer fall into sleep, nor get REM/Delta level, and NOTHING would work (except Ambien). Well now since learning about ...

Strong start to a new Parker series
This book introduces us to Jesse Stone, a somewhat damaged man who has left the LAPD in disgrace after turning to booze to dampen the pain of his ex-wife's cheating. He has been hired on as chief of police for the town of Paradise, Mass. and the beginning of the book goes back and forth between him driving across the country and ruminating on his past, and the machinations of the town selectmen ...

Great. Robert B. Parker was true to his reputation as an author. Couldn't put the book down. Having seen a couple of the movies about Jessie Stone, I could picture Tom Selleck making all these moves and hear him saying the dialogue. I hope there will be more to follow.

Under the Tuscan Sun
This delightful book is all about Tuscany and life in the author's adopted village and her in-progress renovation of an old stone country house (a huge place) and gardens with such a view! Stories provide delightful reading about the trials and tribulations of renovating a once-fine old house in the Tuscan hills, using local craftsmen and materials. Characterizations of the local people are ...

Love this book
A book that beautifully captures adolescent. I loved Prep. I read it years ago and just recently picked it up again for a second time and found myself loving it even more. Lee is in no way and perfect character, but therein lies her charm. She's snobby, self centered, hyper aware, and down right obnoxious at times. In that however, I know I thought back of at least one example of my own ...

one of the best stock trading books
This is one of best stock trading books. Many great traders do not have time to write books. This makes this one especially valuable. Do not expect to gain a same level if skills as Livermore by reading this book only, because the skills cannot be obtained by reading books. Just like practicing foot ball, dancing, playing piano, we can only acquire the skills via long time hard working and ...

Not your typical crime novel
This is an incredibly well written book, but it's not a thriller. It's a detective novel and also a character study and also a family saga. You're two-thirds through the book before you get the connection between the family saga and the detective narrative. Somebody else commented that they didn't like any of the characters, and it's true that they aren't exactly likable. In most books that ...
