College Algebra (with CD-ROM ) - 6Th Edition1 review
Jerome E. Kaufmann, Karen L. Schwitters

Brooks Cole, 2004

Learn how to hate math and reduce your knowledge
This book has done more to make me hate math than any math book I ever worked with. I have tutored Algebra for 3 years and this has to be the worst book that I was forced to use. Things that were easy to understand were made extremely difficult. Instead of encouraging students to learn, it discourages by complexity and being obtuse.

Environmental Science2 reviews
Robert Kaufmann, Cutler Cleveland

McGraw-Hill Science/Engineering/Math, 2007

A comprehensive environment textbook for the undergraduate student.
This book is excellent in presenting an integrated world view by examining relationships between physical and biological systems. It is not a biology, ecology, or geography book alone, but an interdisciplinary alternative. I really like the "your ecological footprint" exercises in each chapter.

MOLD INFESTED HOME
Fungus Link: An Introduction to Fungal Disease Including the Initial Phase Diet5 Years ago we moved out of our home after testing revealed extensive mold contamination of the air as well as being hidden in walls. My husband and I both had painful respiratory inflamation, chronic fatigue, allergy indused asthma, and itching burning eyes to the degree that no prescription eye drop could bring relief. ...

Commenting on Lonewolf Astronomer's review
I'm the author of Universe w/ Starry Night Enthusiast CD-ROM, and I thank Lonewolf Astronomer for pointing out Amazon's error in describing the book as a hardcover --- it is in fact a softcover. I've asked Amazon to change their description to reflect this, and they have done so. Lonewolf Astronomer included a link to Universe: The Solar System w/Starry Night Enthusiast CD-ROM, which is indeed ...

Fungus Link, Volume 1 (Volume 1,2nd Series)1 review
Doug Kaufmann

MediaTrition, 2008

Invest in your excellent health
To my knowledge, no other person other than Mr Kaufmann goes into such detail as to what is REALLY wrong with Americans and their pitiful health. Antibiotics are not the answer. In fact, when you take most antibiotics, you're feeding the problem---which is why you're not getting better. Give Mr Kaufmann's protocol (which he calls the Phase I diet) 2 weeks. You're going to see a difference and ...

The Art and Science of Digital Compositing (The Morgan Kaufmann Series in Computer Graphics)25 reviews
Ron Brinkmann

Morgan Kaufmann, 1999

A must
Even if I'm not working in vfx, so I haven't a great experience, I think this book should be in every comps shelf: very simple, well written, it deals with the math under every (even the simplest) operation you can do in your compositing package (it's quite software-indipendent). It explains several wonderful tricks too. Globally, very useful in my opinion.

Existentialism from Dostoevsky to Sartre (Meridian)23 reviews

Plume, 1975

The Best Introduction to Existentialism
This anthology of Existentialist texts is the best introduction to Existentialism currently available in English. Walter Kaufmann (best known to philosophy readers as the twentieth century's most important translator of Nietzsche) presents a selection of key texts from Kierkegaard, Dostoyevski, Nietzsche of course, Heidegger, Sartre and others, and Kaufmann prefaces the anthology with a ...

Nietzsche: Philosopher, Psychologist, Antichrist32 reviews
Walter A. Kaufmann

Princeton University Press, 1975

Great for Beginners.
While this book will not necessarily help you have a specific knowledge of how exactly Nietzsche's ideas relate to each other, it is a good book to use as a general overview of Nietzsche. It effectively teaches one how to read Nietzsche, not as if he is a nazi power hungry idiot, but as a dynamic thinker whom deserves a serious study. This book is great for beginners, but outside that, it ...

Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (The Morgan Kaufmann Series in Artificial Intelligence) (The Morgan ...3 reviews
Ronald Brachman, Hector Levesque

Morgan Kaufmann, 2004

This book is an Eye-Opener!
I love this book- It is a comprehensive introduction into knowledge representation, with enough detail to create your own knowledge representation programs. Are you a programmer who wonders what it really means when an object *IS* another object, in the form of inheritance found in object-oriented systems? Ever confused by the nuances of multiple inheritance? Ever wonder what XML or OOP or ...

Fabulous In-Depth Intro to Astronomy
I'm an amateur astronomy nut, and have read several dozen books on astronomy, cosmology, etc. This is probably the most clear, in-depth, understandable treatment of astronomical issues that I have ever read. Be it stellar evolution, stellar death, theory of relativity, black holes, galactic evolution -- you name it -- this book presents the research clearly, and explains tough to explain issues ...
