Mattimeo (Redwall, Book 3) 213 reviews Brian Jacques
Avon, 1991
EXCELLENT! 10/10! This is either the best or the second best Redwall book. It's the direct sequel to the Original Redwall, so there will be a lot of familier characters. Complete with 3 huge battles, a cruel monster that lurks in the dark, and an evil slaver named Slager, this book is ultimate, and I highly reccomend it!

The Care & Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls (American Girl Library) 263 reviews Valorie Schaefer
American Girl, 1998
Great for the newly-developing tween My daughter loves this book. It has information and advice about a girl's body, while staying away from controversial subjects. (Personally I'm in the tell-'em-young camp, but I know not everybody is). Anyway, this book covers physical development, hair washing, ear piercing, and all manner of random coming-of-age stuff in an extremely accessible way.

Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type 198 reviews Doreen Cronin
Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 2000
Perfect for Preschoolers Absolutely for preschoolers. My son loved this book almost as much as I did. Everything about this book was adorable- the silliness, the electric blankets, and the diving board. He and I couldn't stop laughing. The reader (most likely the adult) will love how often the neutral party isn't neutral at all. I'm an animal lover, so this book will always have a soft spot in my heart.

Good Night, Gorilla 165 reviews Peggy Rathmann
Putnam Juvenile, 1996
First book to generate a laugh My son has been reading this since he was 8 mos old, he loves to look at the pictures (there are minimal words) while I describe what is going on. At about 11 mos, when he got to the page where the zookeeper's wife finds Gorilla in bed, he laughed out loud! It's so cute to see him "get it."
As he gets older, there are many smaller details in the pictures that will catch his attention, so ...

Lucky Man: A Memoir 212 reviews
Simon & Schuster Audio, 2002
A thought-provoking intimate account I was amazed at what an excellent writer Michael J. Fox is -- his story was candidly written with insightful accounts of his incredible journey. I was also impressed that the proceeds from the book all go to research for a cure for Parkinson's disease. Way to go, Michael!

Where the Wild Things Are 357 reviews Maurice Sendak
Harper Collins, 1988
Terrible...roars, teeth, eyes, claws! Super fun for little boys! Sometimes we just can't seem to settle down before bed. During those times, I reach for "Where the Wild Things Are" so that my two sons can roar their terrible roars and gnash their terrible teeth and roll their terrible eyes and show their terrible claws.
The book is short -- perfect for bedtime reading -- and very interactive. The story follows Max and his wild imagination to a magical land. ...

Matthew G. Rosenberger, Publisher, ABC Philadelphia: Travel Guides for Kids After recently purchasing another copy of this to give as a birthday gift I am reminded of how much our family has enjoyed these songs over the years. How Do Dinosaurs Say Goodnight? 122 reviews Jane Yolen
Blue Sky Press, 2000
A book for any little dinosaur fan My three year old has been into dinosaurs for a year and is still going strong. He received this for his third birthday and it quickly became his favorite bedtime story. We always end with a kiss and he roars a goodnight. Lol.
I like how the dinosaurs are named in the pictures because it not only teaches bedtime manners, but also dinosaur identification. Believe it or not, the boy can name ...

Stomp your feet!!! What a treat to buy this for a friend's baby. My youngest child LOVED this book because as others have pointed out, it is fantastic! Just reading the words results in a great rhyme and makes you dance. You can't help it. Babies love it, toddlers love it, and parents love to read it, even the 4,999th time. It makes everyone smile. If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (If You Give...) 125 reviews Laura Joffe Numeroff
Laura Geringer, 1985
If You Give a Child This Book...You Will Have Hours of Fun Together If You Give a Mouse a Cookie is a modern classic, beloved by children everywhere. It is also a book that teaches about sequential action and consequence. For example, if you give a mouse a cookie, he is going to ask for a glass of milk. If you give him a glass of milk, he will probably ask for straw. As the book continues, the drink leads to a napkin, which leads to a mirror (to check for a ...

Fancy Nancy 158 reviews Jane O'connor
HarperCollins, 2005
Love to Be Fancy What a wonderful book! Well, I admit, mostly I like looking at the pictures. But even for someone who's completely grown out of pink and purple, I often read this book wishing I could have the self-confidence to dress just like Nancy. I've read things about this book saying that there is no deep message, but I think there are several. I love that Nancy's parents make room for her to be herself ...
