Business Law: Text and Cases (West's Business Law)1 review
Kenneth W. Clarkson, Gaylord A. Jentz, ...

South-Western College/West, 2008

Business Law textbook
I haven't actually used this product in class yet as I'm just getting my books together for the fall semester but I have looked it over and it looks to be very informative of business law with examples and definitions etc. I can't however say it is or will be a pleasure to read I bought it because it's required for my business law class not because I wanted to.

The 48 Laws of Power509 reviews
Robert Greene

Penguin (Non-Classics), 2000

Smart Book
Very smart book. Has some very unique and useful tools. I don't agree with everything but I like the book and I will use some parts. I try to treat people as I would have them treat me....The Golden Rule. But with trouble makers or bad people this book can be very helpful.

What I needed!
After viewing the DVD and reading other books, this is what I needed to help show me "how to" do the Law of Attraction.

Black's Law Dictionary: Abridged Version (Dictionary)68 reviews
Henry Campbell Black

West Publishing Company, 2005

Indespensible Dictionary!
This dictionary will be well worn! It is indespensible and sits at my desk. Clear, concise easy reading print. It is one that you can't do without. With a tremendous amount of reading to be done as a student, this dictionary was printed with that in mind making a lot less a chore to use.

Black's Law Dictionary Digital Bundle, including 3rd Pocket Edition9 reviews
Bryan A. Garner

Thomson West, 2007

Words of Law
As a working librarian, I had this valuable dictionary near my desk through several incarnations. Patrons searching to understand their insurance policies, a court order, a contract and other legal documents expected the librarian to know all the words. With "Black's Law Dictionary" we were able to decipher most of the jargon to the patron's satisfaction. I have added it to my personal writing ...

Gaylord A. Jentz

Thomson West, 2007

Great Book To Keep
I have been through a few bad and good text books throughout my college career, but this had to be one of the best I ever picked up. It is easy to search through and actually makes the topics interesting to read.

Constitutional Law (Casebook Series)4 reviews
Erwin Chemerinsky

Aspen Publishers, Inc., 2005

Best 1L Textbook
This was the best 1L textbook that I had. I thought it was well edited and the comments were concise, on point, and helpful. The comments were written more as mini essays (which I prefer) instead of bullet points. Also, there are no problems, which I rarely find helpful and is just something for lazy professors to use to make you waste your valuable time. Note: this book is huge, there is no ...

Law School Confidential (Revised Edition): A Complete Guide to the Law School Experience: By Students, for ...167 reviews
Robert H. Miller

St. Martin's Griffin, 2004

Perfect Book for Any Step: Pre-LSAT through 3L
I am starting law school this fall and purchased this book along with many others in order to prepare myself. I've read the relevant sections of Law School Confidential and it has been BY FAR more helpful than any other book I've read. I've found that most prep books written by one author turn into either a bragging soap-box or an over-exaggerated horror story. This book on the other hand has ...

LOVE IT and starting to see abundant results in 3 days!
LOVE IT and starting to see abundant results in 3 days! I totally agree with a previous very helpful review saying that this is the best book by Esther, Jerry Hicks & Abraham, even better than their classic "Ask and It Is Given" book, one of my favorites. I did read hundreds of prosperity books, plus all The Secret marketing follow-up cash-caws books during the last 3 years, plus I ...

Business Law Today, Standard Edition5 reviews
Roger LeRoy Miller, Gaylord A. Jentz

South-Western College/West, 2007

Business Law Today by Jentz et al.
This is an excellent text. It incorporates the law, as well as legal research methodologies. For instance, a standard chapter contains an outline, common law sources, constitutional, statutory and administrative laws/rule-making. The work cites computerized legal research in WESTLAW and LEXIS. Relevant international legal citations are listed. The applicable United States Code is cited by Title ...

Understanding Criminal Law14 reviews
Joshua Dressler

LexisNexis, 2006

Clear Introduction for Anyone Interested in Criminal Law
For some reason it's very hard to find books on the law specifically directed toward non-lawyers. This is odd since the law is an important instutition which should be simple enough (and usually is) for anyone to understand it. Since there are so few popular books on the law, if you want to learn about the law these "Understanding" books are a good place to start. I don't have any formal ...

Tort Law And Alternatives: Cases And Materials (University Casebook) (University Casebook)3 reviews
Marc A. Franklin, Robert L. Rabin, ...

Foundation Press, 2006

1st Year Tort Law
You will most likely not buy this book for fun but because your 1st year law professor tells you to. Most parts of the book are very dry and it takes a long time to read it properly. The cases are good, standard Tort cases. The most helpful explanations can be found in the Notes and Questions. While the book is dry bordering on boring, the Notes and Questions at the end of each ...

Business Law Today: The Essentials (Thomson Advantage Books)2 reviews
Roger LeRoy Miller, Gaylord A. Jentz

South-Western College/West, 2007

A digest of rules too broad for serious instructional use.
The 5th Edition of "Business Law Today, The Essentials" is a slightly pared down, paper-bound version of the authors' hard back college text "Business Law Today, - Text and Summarized Cases, Legal, Ethical, Regulatory and International Environment." SUMMARY. The book fills the bill as a "Readers Digest" reference work on general legal principles. But, it is too broad in its treatment to be a ...

Problems in Contract Law: Cases and Materials6 reviews
Charles L. Knapp, Nathan M. Crystal, ...

Aspen Publishers, 2007

Great Casebook
In comparison to the other casebooks I've been forced to read this year as a 1L, this casebook is probably the best written. Instead of just placing emphasis on the cases and the rules to glean from them, it also highlights key principles and strategies to use as a lawyer in the future(termed lawyering by the authors). I must admit that taking Nathan Crystal's contract class obviously helps in ...

Constitutional Law (University Casebook Series)2 reviews
Kathleen M. Sullivan, Gerald Gunther

Foundation Press, 2007

Your standard Con-law Casebook, but not as beefy as some
I used this text in my first amendment class so I only read pp. 740 ish to the end of the text. For the most part this is your standard Constitutional law text, with few principal cases, and pages after pages of note cases to follow. Unlike most law textbooks, Sullivan does a good job of doing what most law book don't do--she gets to the point and doesn't waste much time getting there. The ...

Cases and Materials on Criminal Law,(American Casebook Series) (American Casebook)15 reviews
Joshua Dressler

West, 2007

Meh.
Less interconnective than a pair of Lego building bricks; fewer chase scenes than any good torts class; unable to leap tall buildings in a single bound. All in all, if you understand that somebody had intent, or what the bourgeoise elite call "mens rea," you can frame them for practically any crime. Conversely, if you can show that the defendant wasn't even thinking at the time, you can get him ...

Aspen Publishers, Inc., 2005

Reasonable - Good Historical Materials
I've had cause to study this book a little for a course in Constitutional Problems at the University of Western Australia. Inevitably - while my requirements cannot be as detailed or exhaustive as that of my American friends, I found it a useful guide to the major cases and enjoyed the historical references. I particularly enjoyed the Race and the Constitution (equality and 14th amendment stuff) ...
