Everyone Should Read This Book
Last summer I found out my husband was having an affair with a woman I considered my best friend. We've been trying to put our marriage back together, but as you can imagine it has not been an easy process. I love my husband deeply despite the affair, and I know he loves me, but with all the pain and damage between us it's hard to know what to do. Recently, it had all begun to seem hopeless. ...

What More Can Be Said?
It's difficult to think of something appropriate to say about a man who spent his life trying to express the panorama of humanity through the lense of his own heart. From a drop of blood to the grandeur of a shipyard or a continent, he takes all readers on a journey wild with raving, raging, sorrow, longing, humbleness and pride. At once he is totally modern and yet rife with history. For ...

Very good for the first time Dad and the experienced one too
This book was recommended to me by my brother-in-law who has 4 daughters. I just have one. Most of the chapters were relevant to my situation although it really focuses on the teen and young adult situations the author had experienced. It did open my eyes to other areas of my daughter's life I must pay attention to. The last chapter(Epilogue) was hard to read. I really got emotional about ...

I Like the Audio Better than the Hard Cover
Since 531 people have already reviewed Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation and a gozillian people have reacted with comments when they voted, I am being assertive by thinking I can add something. By the way, the other reviews are entertaining. When I bought my book, I was glad to get it. I had heard an interview with Lynne Truss on television, and I knew I ...

Buy this book... now
Cynthia Kaplan is funny. But that's almost besides the point. She's reflective and thoughtful. While you're laughing, in your mind's eye you can picture exactly what she's describing... and why... and how it applies to you and your life. Wise readers would buy everything that she writes. And read it many times.

This Book Helped Me Become A Better Partner in My Relationship
I read this book very recently, and it really helped me with some relationship issues I was having. The book is divided up into two sections (Leave, and Love), what women do wrong and what women do right. The things I was doing that were unproductive to my relationship were right there in black and white, to read and learn from. It helped also knowing that I'm not the only woman who has done ...

Cronenberg For Movie
Who else here thinks this book should be made into a movie by David Cronenberg? It makes perfect sense. He's taken on this type of subject matter before. I think the notion of directing "unfilmmable books" really intrigues the guy, i.e. Burroughs "Naked Lunch" and Ballards "Crash". I think this book would fit in well with his filmography. How can we notify him that this book should be his ...

Excellent Travel Philosophy Book
I stumbled upon Rolf Potts in a National Geographic Traveler article, and I immediately ordered his book. Vagabonding is indeed an "uncommon guide" - a wonderful mesh of travelogue and travel philosophy. I really enjoyed the "Vagabonding Profiles" and "Vagabonding Voices" of each chapter. Potts' "Vagabonding" has fueled my Wanderlust fire like no other book. Cholera?............Seriously ...

Keep hope alive -- the country can still turn in the right direction
Grover Norquist uses an impressive array of facts and statistics to demonstrate that we do not have to inevitably become more and more like France. Deep economic, demographic and political trends exist that will make real Tax Reform and much more limited government possible. The book contains a plan that outlines how this can actually be done. It seems daunting right now, being faced with the ...

If you lose things, this book is for you
There is that niggling little fear that you've forgotten something, it happens to all of us, usually regardless of age. My friend Shelly was talking to me on the phone and she asked me, "Hey, do you know this woman, um, she's on my caller ID?" I ask, "What's her name?" Shelly responds, "I don't know, I can't remember, I have to find the phone and look at caller ID." I'm quiet while Shelly ambles ...

A memorable story that haunts you long after reading.
This book was beautifully written and gripping from the start. The reviewer who complained of Adeline's "whining" tone, is being unfair. I don't see her as whiny, but rather somewhat detached as she recounts the emptiness of her childhood. In fact, I want her to scream and kick and rebell, maybe even whine, yet she does none of that. Whining is even more emotion than I think she allows ...

Excellant Resource
Identifying Trees: An All-Season Guide To Eastern North America I bought this book because my 7th grader was required to identify 25 tree leaves and create a leaf identification book for his Science project. He was given the list of trees we were to look for, then gather the sample leaves and label. "Identifying Trees" provided a wide variety of basic instruction on the process of identifying ...
Your Complete Retirement Planning Road Map: The Leave-Nothing-to-Chance, Worry-Free, All-Systems-Go Guide

A Financial Guide, not a Complete Guide
To me the title of this otherwise excellent book is somewhat misleading. It should say something like 'Your Complete FINANCIAL Planning Road Map.' That is, it doesn't go into things like should you move to the sunbelt, or how much money will you need, or medical aspects or any of these other subjects. Instead it is a very complete discussion on the tax issues of investing for retirement. This ...

Terrific Little Book
I too took a tree identification class at a state park some years ago and this was the official guide book. It's easy to use, laid out well and has many varieties of trees in it. With practice, you can get to the point where you know what they look like by sight without having to resort to the book. If you're a novice, get this book. It's inexpensive and offers you a great deal!

Excellent resource for "simply" solving common childhood bahaviors
This book is excellent and loaded with common sense solutions for everyday behavior problems (and they work). I just took a Love & Logic class at our local YMCA and there wasn't anything "heavy handed" in the teaching materials we received or the videos of the authors we watched. A heavy dose of empathy is always used with their methods i.e the "love" part of love & logic.

Great book for children of many ages
I ordered this book thinking it might be too young for my 9-year-old daughter. However, when it arrived it was pored over by not only my 9-year-old, but her 13-year-old brother as well. The copy I sent to my sister's children (ages 5 and 7) was also well-received. I recommend this book as a fun tool to teach and to re-enforce proper comma usage. It is a subtle and pain-free way to ...

Another Joyful Max and Ruby Book!
Kids and adults of all ages can enjoy Max and Ruby. This book is one of my favorites along with the Easter Max and Ruby book and the Dragon Shirt book. I teach middle school ESOL students and I guarantee they will enjoy it and smile without feeling slighted and that the book was too childish. Fall!
