The Man-Eater of Malgudi (Twentieth-Century Classics)6 reviews
R. K. Narayan

Penguin Classics, 1993

One of Narayan's best
"Man eater of Malgudi" by R.K. Narayan, one of India's first internationally-known writers who chose to write in English, is easily one of the author' best works. Vasu,a big blustering bully, moves into the lazy little South Indian town of Malgudi, the fictional town in which nearly all of Narayan's stories are set, and overturns the life of Nataraj the town's printer. A colourful retinue of ...

Jim Corbett

Words cant describe my respect for this man
Once again in this book Jim Corbett has proved it, he was a awesome incredible gentleman. I have never seen anyone who could write like him. Amazing man with amazing courage. His modesty is revealed throughout his book. He goes through so much suffering and pain, but never once writes about it. From his book you can feel how much concern he had for people. People trusted him with with their ...

Fantastic read.
The images and visuals that you will get while reading this book are probably like nothing you will experience in your own life. Man-Eaters2 reviews
Michael Bright

St. Martin's Paperbacks, 2002

really good
Not for young readers the attacks are described in graphic details. I have only read the first chapter on the attacks and it is pretty intersting to read about why the animals do it. I am 16 and I don't like other non-fiction books I mostly like fiction, but this one caught my eye, I recomend that you go rent it from your library first to see if you like it.

J.H. Patterson

similarities
I purchased this book after watching the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness". The book was very interesting and the movie included more truths than I had thought. It was well worth the read.

The Man-Eaters of Tsavo, 2008

Have you seen the movie "The Ghost and the Darkness"? This is the book the movie was based on. This is the true life story of the two man-eating lions of the Tsavo area of Kenya, and Lt-Colonel John H. Patterson's encounters with them, while trying to build a railroad bridge over the Tsavo River. This story is even more exciting and amazing than the movie. Many of his other East African adventures are included in the book. Lots of black and ...

A Philanthropist re-visits the ghosts of his father
Christopher Ondaatje is almost a billionaire and a well known philanthropist. This wonderful book combines a travelogue and autobiography including a commentary on his brother's work "Running in the family" by Michael Ondaatje. The best thing about this book are the pictures. Only a picture edition in colour works. Not the subsequent black and white paperback reprints. Most of the book ...

Ron Saxen's The Good Eater is one of the first, if not first, books written about binge eating from the perspective of a male. When reading the book I could vividly see the events playing out and the impact on Ron and his family. Ron's work has inspired me to move forward in my own personal journey to confront binge eating and the emotions that drive me to binge. That alone should be the ...

Man Eaters: True Tales of Animals Stalking, Mauling, Killing, and Eating Human Prey4 reviews

The Lyons Press, 2002

Lions and tigers and bears and crocodiles and sharks, OH MY!
I ordered this book for a friend and it looked interesting. I decided to read it myself and LOVED it! Now I'm buying my own copy. It isn't as graphic as I expected - so it won't "gross you out." It gives tips on surviving bear attacks which I thought were very interesting. According to this book, there are two types of grizzly bear attacks. The DEFENSE attack happens when you surprise a ...
