Interesting but pointlessly huge
I bought this book for my BSCI 106 class at the University of Maryland in College Park. Its the newest edition and is pretty much the same as the last edition. It's a good book but the information covered could probably be covered in half as many pages. I wouldn't recommend it for light reading and bedtime stories but it's a perfectly good textbook..

MasteringBio = amazing
This book is a good biology text book -- it's pretty easy to read and has interesting examples and real-world applications of some of the concepts. The MasteringBio website, though, is AWESOME. It comes with an ebook version of the text book, so you don't have to carry it around with you (good because it is huge and really heavy). This book is definitely worth the money. I am the type of person who learns better from reading than listening to (mostly) boring lectures. For that type of person this book is perfect.
