Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survive Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends, and Other Realities of ...94 reviews
Rosalind Wiseman

Three Rivers Press, 2002

Enlightening for Dad
Simply put, I found the book to far exceed my expectations for it. As a male, the author's insights into girls' social roles and interactions were a huge eye-opener. And as the father of three girls, I appreciate all the examples of specific situations girls may find themselves in, how their thinking/social conditioning may have contributed, and how they can extricate themselves. As others ...

Purplicious64 reviews
Elizabeth Kann

HarperCollins, 2007

Thank you for the Purplicious!
After reading all reviews I ordered the book for my 'almost 4' years old daughter. I was not disappointed. The book is beautiful, not 'too long' and to the point. My daughter agreed that other girls were not nice to Pinkalicious, was supporting Pinkalicious all the way thru the book and telling that she loves Pink too and was very happy when Pinkalicious finally found a good friend.

HarperCollins, 2007

Wonderful read!! History, romance & mystery galore
I love this book! Those were my first 4 words that I thought after finishing this novel. It centers around Elizabeth Holland's world from her true love (someone her family would not approve of) to her betrothed (someone she doesn't care for but will marry as a duty to her family), her little fiery sister Diana who realizes that she doesn't have to go very far to quench her thirst for adventure, ...

Susan Sprague

New Harbinger Publications, 2008

When you're the target of snubbing or teasing at school, it's easy to feel like everyone else has a group of friends and you're the only odd one out. The reality is that gossip and rumors hurt everyone, and often, even the most popular girls feel alone. Making your way through junior high and high school isn't easy, and it definitely requires more than the right shoes and lip gloss. Interesting Reading
Very interesting reading. It puts a lot of things into perspective. As a teacher, I see a lot of these behaviors in children. I was hoping as an adult that it would get better. This book helps me see where I fit in.

The Shy Guy's Guide to Dating: The Best Places to Meet Women, the Ten Best Pickup Lines, How to Tell if She ...21 reviews
Barry Dutter

St. Martin's Griffin, 1998

Outstanding book for Shy Guys
This is a great book for its target audience - shy guys. This is an outstanding book and it addresses and explains every issue that I have as a shy guy. A lot of the things discussed actually happened to me personally and I never understood why until I read this book. Apparently a lot of the negative reviewers are not shy guys at all and were looking for innovative new ways to pick up women. This ...

Mean Girls Gone: A Spiritual Guide to Getting Rid of Mean2 reviews
Hayley DiMarco

Revell, 2005

A Happy Little Person
My 8 year old daughter had been having trouble at school. Academically there were no problems, but in the playground it was a different story. There were a number of girls who would pick on her and make her life a living hell!! (I don't remember this happening to me at school) When she asked me what she could do about it, I didn't know. This book was recommended to me by a work mate. With a ...

Mean Girls All Grown Up: Surviving Catty and Conniving Women9 reviews
Hayley DiMarco

Revell, 2005

Some Interesting Material but...
This book really does apply mostly to Christians as its proofs are Christian specific. Should one be of another religion then they will be fairly discombobulated by the author's reliance on scripture as a means for justifying her positions. I don't know Mrs. Dimarco personally, but I am rather certain that she is a member of one of Christianity's more evangelizing wings as there is much here that ...

The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, The Girls of Slender Means, The Driver's Seat, The Only Problem (Everyman's ...2 reviews
Muriel Spark

Everyman's Library, 2004

Extraordinary and chilling
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie is, as Tom Farber said of Evan Connell's Mrs. Bridge, satire written with a scalpel. It's precise and sharp, and you also get the feeling things are being laid open and cut away. At times she is as cruel and cold (consider Mary, for instance, whose stupidity is described with disdain even as she is dying horrifically). You have to have a certain amount of ...

The Girls of Slender Means9 reviews
Muriel Spark

New Directions Publishing Corporation, 1998

A Little Confusing
Don't get me wrong this was a good book but I got confused with all the characters. It kind of jumped around from person to person and from the past to the present. It was interesting reading about the stories of each of the girls. It didn't really seem to follow a story line. The story finally began to come together at the great ending then just kind of stopped. Not the best book I've ever read ...
