Mister Messy (Mr. Men Library) 10 reviews Roger Hargreaves
Egmont Books (UK), 1992
Great for classroom use I am an elementary teacher and I use these books in my class to supplement our Character Ed program (which isn't the greatest). My students love the Little Miss and Mr. Men books. I have to keep them behind my desk and let them "check them out" like library books or they fight over them. The are excellent to use in a pinch if you have a book that pertains to a problem that has developed in ...

Goodnight, Mister Lenin 12 reviews Tiziano Terzani
Picador, 1993
Extraordinary Just wanted to chime in my two cents on "Fortune-Teller"--I've lived and travelled in Asia for the last 3 years, and Terzani's book is the only travel writing I've read that opened my eyes to ways of thinking outside the norm, the mundane, the Lonely Planet view of the world. Extremely worth seeking out. Naturally, this leads me to wanting to read "Goodnight Mister Lenin", if it can be ...

I'm Proud of You: My Friendship with Fred Rogers (Unabridged) 31 reviews Tim Madigan
audible.com
Written with feeling...I'm Proud of You This book is about a relationship between two friends. I often give this book to friends who have lost a parent. In this world where so few people encourage and lift each other up, are able to have a heart-to-heart talk with a friend, this book is an excellent example of how to do just that! "I'm Proud of You" is one of my favorite books. I would highly recommend it and preferred it so much ...

Mister Tickle (Mr. Men Library) 8 reviews Roger Hargreaves
Egmont Books (UK), 1992
Thought Provoking Back in college I got a job as a summer janitor at the local elementary school. One of the things I had to do was clean up in the library. I took this time as an opportunity to catch up on some reading... in the form of the Mr. Men series. Mr. Tickle is a great book about a man who likes to tickle. If you like to laugh, this book is for you. If you like to tickle, this book is for you. If you are ...

A Crack in Everything 20 reviews
Diamond Books, 2006
Very enjoyable and inspirational read. My book club loved this book! It's sweet and well written. I read it in one sitting. The story line is engrossing, it's also inspirational, although not in a didactic, boring way. We became invested in the characters, their interactions and the final satisfying resolution of the plot. There's also some humor in its spoofing of yoga and "new age stuff," which, as a yoga teacher, I relished.

Mister Satan's Apprentice: A Blues Memoir 10 reviews Adam Gussow
Pantheon, 1998
A book for lovers and players Recently it was my privilege to see author and harmonica player Adam Gussow at my local huge independent bookstore here in the Eastern US. I rarely do commercials, but if you can't catch Adam, you can check out his new novel "Mr. Satan's Apprentice". Adam calls it "a blues memoir", and so it is. The guy is a no-shit, kick-butt, street-smart harp player! FYI, I have fairly high standards in ...

Mister Happy (Mr. Men Library) 8 reviews Roger Hargreaves
Egmont Books (UK), 1992
This is Life. call me heathen, or anything. But you don't need the Bible. This book makes me tear, it makes my cry of joy because I feel proud to be human. Proud to be Happy. I am glad that we as a race made a piece with so much hope and jo. This, in my humble opinion, is the single best piece of literature ever made.
It really is just Life. Joy, just plain, simple, happy joy. I will always keep this book ...

Going to the Hospital (Mister Rogers Neighborhood) 7 reviews Fred Rogers
Topeka Bindery, 1999
EXCELLENT BOOK!! This book is awesome!! My 3-year-old daughter LOVES it! It's very easy for her to understand, and the pictures of real kids having routine hospital things done to them is very helpful. She had a "surprise" surgery to remove a brain tumor 2 months ago and wasn't prepared for the hospital experience. When we found out she had to have another surgery, we immediately bought this book and read it 3 or ...

Mister Jelly Roll;: The fortunes of Jelly Roll Morton, New Orleans Creole and "inventor of jazz." (Evergreen ... 5 reviews Alan Lomax
Grove Press, 1956
An incredible book! This is one of the rare books for it can be enjoyed by just about anyone who picks it up. Its the amazing account of the life of Jelly Roll Morton, one of the best jazz pianists of all time. Though a braggart and troubled man, he created some of the very best pieces of jazz. The book goes into his life from his childhood and his time working at Storyville to the very troubled end in the early ...

Hunting Mister Heartbreak: A Discovery of America 7 reviews Jonathan Raban
Perennial, 1992
A masterpiece Raban's four books written to date on America-Old Glory, Hunting Mr Heartbreak, Badlands and Passage to Juneau-are all elegant and entertaining meditations on America and what it is to be American. Although each book is very different, they all feature the same blend of candid autobiography, careful historical exegesis, vivid description, and wry humour. Each one is a rewarding work, but Hunting ...

Mister Rogers' Parenting Book: Helping To Understand Your Young Child 7 reviews Fred Rogers
Running Press, 2002
Read it from the library, had to buy the book. This is how I want my children to be raised. Mr. Rogers is more than a cultural icon, he's a man who has though long and hard about what it's like to be a little person in a big person's world. What a wonderful theory for guiding a youngster through life. I hope I can live up to Mr. Roger's model of how to behave as a parent and in life.

Mister Fred 6 reviews Jill Pinkwater
Dutton Juvenile, 1994
A very funny book, guaranteed to be a hit with young readers Books about the angst of the teen age are all over the shelves. Comedy is a rare art among writers of young adult literature. Mr. Fred is, hands down, the funniest book on the shelves of my library. Kids always see substitutes as comic figures, and are easily lured into checking this one out.

Mister Roberts 6 reviews Thomas Heggen
Amereon Limited, 1983
GOT ANY FULMINATE OF MERCURY? After recently watching Mister Roberts again on DVD, I was checking the credits and decided to finally track down this book. It turns out it was just the screenplay (with a list of props and scene designs included to help stage the play). While I was at first surprised, I was not disappointed. This makes an excellent addition to my film library. A great screenplay of a great film. Got any ...

Mister God, This Is Anna 6 reviews Anna Fynn
Henry Holt & Company, 1975
Anna makes life shine. This fascinating true story of a young life with deep insights to share about existence kept my attention endlessly. Anna's perspective had no walls of limitation. To me, Anna has become a definition of hope and encouragement through love and curiosity aimed at people and relating to those people. This book can easily restore your beliefs in the dreams you once gave up. I also suggest reading ...
