This is indeed one of the best fantasy books around. I'd completely forgotten about them, when my wife was sorting through some old letters of mine from 1990, and I was discussing the book in them. Then it came back to me, and I had to find out if the series had carried on...sadly, it seems the author was unable to write anything but these two.
