Helped three of us pass
This book is great! It helped me pass all three sub tests on the first try. Then I loaned the book to two of my other friends and they passed on the first try as well. It gives strategies for how to take the test as well as content that you need to know. I found it to be comprehensive and really helpful. I would recommend it and in fact did for my two of my good friends.

I still didn't pass the test
I took all 4 CSETs for English, passed the multiple choice ones with no problems...high scores, but the two written exams were totally different from what this book offers. I failed, and miserably.

Don't Buy This Book!
This book is full of wrong information, typos, glaring misspellings and a messed up set of answer keys. For example, the explorer "Cabrillo" was spelled "Caberilla" or some equally wrong answer. Please don't waste your time with this book.

Excellent test prep guide!
I read this Elementary Language Arts manual prior to taking the CSET when it first came out in 2005. I was able to pass all sections of the CSET in one setting due to the excellent advice in this manual regarding timing for each subtest. This book provided an excellent overview on linguistics and literacy instruction.
