My First Catholic Bible For Catholic Children Who Want A Devotional Bible Of Their Very Own! 8 reviews Thomas Nelson
Thomas Nelson, 2001
My First Catholic Bible for Catholic Childred These Bibles were purchased by our Altar Society as a gift for the first and second graders receiving First Reconciliation and First Communion this year. As a Religious Education teacher, I wanted a Bible the children could easily turn to to find the day's Gospel message, so we could discuss it before Mass. I found the Bibles to be easy to read (but not simplistic) and phrased is a way the ...

My Very First Mother Goose 35 reviews
Candlewick, 1996
My very favorite Mother Goose book Publisher's Weekly called this book "exuberant" and that's exactly the right word for it. Bright primary colors make up this book, and Rosemary Wells' adorable characters populate the rhymes. Unlike some Mother Goose books, this one is meaty -- it boasts 108 pages, with a rhyme on almost every page. That's a lot of nights of Mother Goose at bedtime.
Nursery rhymes help build phonological ...

The Very Bad Day (My First Reader) 2 reviews Mary Packard
Children's Press (CT), 2004
An Easy Reader with a story line! My first grade daughter read this book to herself and laughed at the ending. Most books at her reading level have no real story line. Finally, a book that not only gives her practice, but also brings her a little joy. Thanks!

On My Very First Day of School I Met... 1 review Norman Stiles
Milk & Cookies Press, 2005
Test Market Success I just gave my almost-four year old friend, who is starting pre-school tomorrow (with some nervous anticipation), this wonderful book. She laughed at the pictures and commented at the witty story, saying it would be silly to meet friends like that at school and "Look at what is on 'my' lunchbox" on the last page!! The Amazon reviewer seemed to think that the pictures would upstage the plot. If ...

First Week With My New PC :A Very Basic Guide for Mature Adults & Everyone Else (Capital First Week) ... 8 reviews Pamela R. Lessing
Capital Books, 2000
Better than the Dummies series for the Complete New User I bought this book and a dummies book for my 73 year old father who had never used a computer in his life before. He read both and learned more, and faster from this book - First Week with My New PC. His comment was that this book was the one geared to the complete newbie. He felt that the dummies book required a knowledge base that he, as a brand new user, did not yet have! Definitely highly ...

My Very First Book of Shapes 5 reviews
Philomel, 2005
One of the best It is one of the best introduction to shapes books I've seen. It has a wider variety of shapes than most books do. Each shape is also labeled and with the variety of shapes, beginning readers will be introduced to words they may not have had to read before. For instance, Sean has now learned the word almond. Of course the book has the lovely paper collage illustrations by Eric Carle which gives ...

My Very First Book of Manners 3 reviews Michal Sparks
Harvest House Publishers, 2000
Sweet, Adhorable, Perfect My little girl was drawn to this book when she was only 4 months old and still picks it out over other books that are read at story time. It is perfect for her as it has a frilly little girl quality to it. Fun colors and design bring a real "feel good" sort of comfort and the story is uplifting and positive. This is so good for children as part of their "First Board Books" collection and I ...

Here Comes Mother Goose (My Very First Mother Goose) 13 reviews
Candlewick, 1999
Great book! I have two of the Rosemary Wells/Ione Opie Mother Goose books that we've enjoyed for many years. The pictures are large & colorful, and the poems are just the right size for younger listeners. This is the second time that I've bought the series after 10 years, as my kids loved them so much that they took them EVERYWHERE, and the books were worn out from too much loving. I like the mix of familiar ...

My Very First Library 5 reviews
Philomel, 2006
Brilliance and BOARDS When they are very little they want to handle it, gum it, chew on it, etc. Eric Carle is brilliant and putting his work onto such approachable material was the RIGHT thing to do. Instead of a 'baby shower', have a 'book shower' and lead off your present list with board books by Eric Carle.

My Very First Tea Party 13 reviews Michal Sparks
Harvest House Publishers, 2000
My Very First Tea Party I purchased this for our three-year-old granddaughter and gave her a tea set also. The book is very simply written; young kids can easily understand it. I would say it's 5-star for 2-3-4 year olds. Might be too simple for older kids.

My Very First Book of Colors 2 reviews
Philomel, 2005
Like the book Pictures are nicely illustrated. Simple and clean. The only complain I have is the letters/words are not big/bold enough. My 2 years old daughter has been learning colors for a few months and she looks at the book and points out the colors. She also enjoys to look at the pictures and asks questions. I like that a lot.

My Very First Book of Words 4 reviews
Philomel, 2006
Great beginning-reader learning tool! My older son is 3 years old and wanting to read more and more. This was a terrific little book that introduced him to some "sight words"... words that you can't, at least at age 3, necessarily sound out using basic phonics rules, but have to recognize when you see them. We liked it so much that now I'm hunting for more!!!

My Very First Book of Motion
Philomel, 2007
Feast your eyes on the latest split-page board books from Eric Carle. In the sumptuous My Very First Book of Food, children can match each animal with the food it eats. Do you know what a squirrel eats? How about a seal? In My Very First Book of Motion, children can match each animal with the way it moves. Which animal hops? Which one waddles? Only you can match them. These fun books are full of bright animals, and are lots of fun for young ...

My Very First Book of Numbers 2 reviews
Philomel, 2006
Very nearly perfect - can you find six lemons? We originally checked this one out of the library - and instantly knew that we had to purchase it. The book consists of a top half and bottom half for which the pages can be turned separately. Numbers from 1 to 10 accompanied by the appropriate number of black squares need to be paired with the picture with the same number of fruit on the bottom page. The number word (in bold) and name of the ...

My Very First Years Baby Book 2 reviews Michal Sparks
Harvest House Publishers, 2001
Great Baby Record Book! I searched for a baby book for several weeks, both online, and in various stores around me. This was the best one so far! It met my requirements of covering the first 5 years (most I found only covered the first year), has "Baby's First Christmas" and a second page for other first holidays (most only have one page for "Baby's First Holiday"), and the binding has some room for expansion when I ...

My Very First Book of Animal Homes 2 reviews
Philomel, 2007
Cute book. This is a darling book. The pictures are just darling. However, it was rated for baby/preschooler. My baby is 11 months, and while this book is gorgeous, my daughter can not match up the pictures. There are words next to the "house" picture, like barn, burrow, cave, etc. But there are none next to the animals. So at first, I was thinking that the squirrel or the bird could live in the tree. ...

Mother Goose's Little Treasures (My Very First Mother Goose) 2 reviews Iona Opie
Candlewick, 2007
Great addition to a child's library Mother Goose's Little Treasures, by Iona Opie and Rosemary Wells, isn't your mother's Mother Goose. The collection consists of twenty-two Mother Goose rhymes plucked from obscurity by the world's foremost Goose folklorist.
The book's introduction bears a lovingly-crafted appearance, with an explanation of its origin. We learn the stories contained within are "the most mysterious fragments from ...

My Very Own Big Dictionary 1 review
Houghton Mifflin, 1996
excellent beginning dictionary with clear colorful pictures As a kindergarten teacher, I am always looking for very simple reference books which will teach even the youngest students how to locate and use information. This dictionary does exactly that.I have many copies of the book and they are used hard and often on a daily basis in my kindergarten classroom.
