Great Book
Toseland's book is considered by most experts in the field to be one of the best resources for understanding group work today. I have enjoyed this text and consider it an important addition to any Social Work library. After having Dr. Toseland as a professor is it clear that he is truely a master of group work. This book is worth every penny!!

So what is social work? The book seeks to explain and inspire. It targets the university student majoring, or choosing to major, in this subject. It explains that a social worker can make a positive difference in a person's life. In many people's lives. Often, the people who need aid are underprivileged in one form or another. One chapter delineates the typical groups. The elderly. Those ...

READABLE historical perspective on American social policy
As an undergraduate social work student, I dreaded my policy class. I thought it would be so dry. However, I found myself getting caught up in the narrative of this book. It provides so much information that really ought to be taught in history classes. The development of America as a nation, the political forces that shaped it, and the legitimacy of other political points of view make so much ...

Great Intro. To Family Therapy.
I am currently taking a Family Therapy course and I mistakenly bought this book. After buying the required text and examining the two, I decided that this one was a "keeper." The authors are practioners in the field who have accumulated years of wisdom and knowledge about how the family functions. They do an excellent job of presenting the major treatment paradigms, without injecting their own ...
