The Front123 reviews
Patricia Cornwell

Putnam Adult, 2008

Where is the Ending?
I am an avid reader of all of Cornwall's books. Just finished "The Front". What happened? Where is the rest of the story? It ends abruptly as if the writer fell off her chair. No fun, and not fair. Is there a Part II? To be continued???? This is not typical Cornwall fare. I'm disappointed.

Fearless Fourteen (Stephanie Plum, No. 14)1 review
Janet Evanovich

St. Martin's Press, 2008

All of the series are great...
I've become a regular fan of "Stephanie Plum" series. Evanovich is a fabulous writer. I've read this one and the previous 13 books in this series. I'm looking forward to the 15th I think is coming in June or July. Lots of humor about the character's family...her grandma is the best. Some love thrown in, adventure, and all sorts of great things. I highly recommend her books, especially this ...

Phantom Prey (Lucas Davenport Mysteries)45 reviews
John Sandford

Putnam Adult, 2008

I love this guy
Some of John Sandford's recent books have been lacking the kick I expect from him, but this one is back up to his excellent standard. I'll read anything he writes and the Lucas Davenport books are my favorites.

Devil May Care (James Bond)24 reviews
Sebastian Faulks

Doubleday, 2008

Bond, James Bond!
No spoilers! We just finished read Devil May Care, the new James Bond novel by Sebastian Faulks, writing as Ian Fleming. The novel was commissioned by the Fleming Estate for the 100th Birthday Anniversary of Sir Ian Fleming. It takes place back in the 60s Cold War, right after the Casino Royale/Quantum of Solace movies. It reads like Ian Fleming and is quite enjoyable, short of our inability ...

Plague Ship (Oregon Files)6 reviews
Clive Cussler

Putnam Adult, 2008

Another winner
I've always been a fan of his and the books just seem to be getting better and better. I received it from Amazon early (on Monday) and finished it last night. Once you start reading it you can't put it down. The best of the Oregon files.

The Whole Truth53 reviews
David Baldacci

Grand Central Publishing, 2008

Great Book
I really liked this book. When I first saw the title of the book I thought it might be the next book in the Camel Club series (which I LOVE). At first I was a bit disappointed when I realized it was not part of the Camel Club series but my disappointment was short lived. If you like an action packed book with a hero that has all the human frailties yet still seems indestructible, this book is ...

The Spies of Warsaw: A Novel8 reviews
Alan Furst

Random House, 2008

"What do you think spies are: priests, saints and martyrs?"
John LeCarre, "The Spy Who Came in From the Cold" As its title suggests, there are more than a few spies in Alan Furst's latest novel "The Spies of Warsaw." None of them are priests, none are saints and none strive for martyrdom. What we find are a willing and unwilling collection of French, Polish, German, and Russian operatives in pre-WWII Poland. The result is a typically good Furst ...

Another excellent novel by the best mystery, suspense, psychological writer of all time. Continues the Thomas Lynley series. Highly recommended.

Sail4 reviews
James Patterson, Howard Roughan

Little, Brown and Company, 2008

A great summer read.
At this point in his career, James Patterson has written so many thrillers that it must be hard to create a new angle. This may be why he so often writes with others, and this is one book where I think his co-author had a lot to say and I think it was well worth saying. As a summer thriller, this book more than satisfies. It is a very good tale of survival (although the mom in the story ...

The Shack595 reviews
William P. Young

Windblown Media, 2007

Changes everything
I was afraid to pick up this book. It was given to me by a friend who knew the desperate state I was in. I have been furious with God and didn't know where to put that into what I know to be true. I have finished the book, with weeping, and I believe a healing process has begun that could have begun no other way than with the absolute truth of things. That is what this book is about, the God who ...

The Appeal372 reviews
John Grisham

Doubleday, 2008

A tough read
Although I love all of John Grishams works, this one was hard for me to read in one go. Perhaps his next book will be an easier read.

The Miracle at Speedy Motors: The New Novel in the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency Series (No. 1 Ladies' ...56 reviews
Alexander Mccall Smith

Pantheon, 2008

Prizes little-noticed
We're all familiar with the big miracles: the little child as sole survivor of an airplane crash or the earthquake victim pulled alive from rubble a week after the event. Precious Ramotswe, however, is sensitive to the other kind, the little miracles with long-term meaning for family affairs. Founder of The Number One Ladies Detective Agency of Gabarone, Botswana, Precious has been rather ...

Dead Heat (Political Thrillers Series #5)127 reviews
Joel C. Rosenberg

Tyndale House Publishers, 2008

A Prophesy for America???
Dead Heat will have you sit up straight and pay attention. The attack on the US is an effective one, done with a devastating, primarily low tech approach. Without the right leadership in office, this country will surely collapse if this scenario or something close to it is ever played out. Rest assured our enemies and those who hate us, and there are many, are reading this book with a possible ...

7th Heaven (The Women's Murder Club)98 reviews
James Patterson, Maxine Paetro

Little, Brown and Company, 2008

The Women's Murder Club series is 7th Heaven!
What an excellent series! I was not a James Patterson reader until after I started watching the Women's Murder Club on ABC. Then I went out and bought all of the books in the series! Each one can stand on it's own but you really need to read them in order for the goings-on of the central characters. Too bad the bozos at ABC cancelled the show before giving it a solid chance. The show may be gone, ...

From Dead to Worse (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 8)110 reviews
Charlaine Harris

Ace Hardcover, 2008

Charlaine Harris strikes again
The latest in the Sookie Stackhouse series adds to the increasingly complex world of vamps & supes. Harris combines humor and horror as she continues Sookie's education in the previously unseen aspects of life prior to the vampires' making themselves known. Enjoyable indeed.

Hold Tight88 reviews
Harlan Coben

Dutton Adult, 2008

Hold Tight! Story Keeps You Moving!
Harlan Coben takes hold immediately, from the very first page, of your undivided attention in his novel Hold Tight. I was absolutely spell bound by the character development and story line and found myself reading well after my eyes were done for the night. Red eyes notwithstanding, it was like a movie unfolding in my head. The story line is unpredictable and the characters real as they jump ...

The Billionaire's Vinegar: The Mystery of the World's Most Expensive Bottle of Wine9 reviews
Benjamin Wallace

Crown, 2008

One of the Most Surprising Books I Have Read in a Long Time
It's hard to know what to expect from a book, labeled a "mystery," which tells the true story behind the purchase of one bottle of wine. Granted, it was the most expensive bottle of wine ever sold. And while I like wine as much as the next guy, there's a limit to how much wine-related information I can digest (or perhaps should digest) as well as to how much interest I can muster for a ...
