Juneau 2nd grader If you like mysteries you might like the book "Miss Nelson is Missing", by James Marshall. Miss Nelson has a hard time teaching her students. Her students misbehave. When she comes back after being absent they are nice to her because Miss Swamp, the substitute, had been mean to them. Miss Swamp made them do all the work. Do you know who Miss Swamp really is? Plum Island 330 reviews Nelson DeMille
Grand Central Publishing, 2002
The First of Many Outstanding John Corey Novels Nelson DeMille is one of my favorite authors. I know that if I'm going to pick up one of his books, I'm going to be sitting there for awhile. His writing is just that good that it will keep you there no matter what you're supposed to be doing.
Luckily for me, we aren't supposed to be doing anything, so I can sit here for a long time...As I usually am with one of his books.

Mayday 92 reviews Thomas Block, Nelson Demille
Grand Central Publishing, 1998
high flying intrigue Be ready to take off from Page one. Very possibly his best novel. the excitement never quits. Authors' very subtle insights to human foibles and treachery are amazing. They didn't miss a thing in their analysis.

Long Walk to Freedom: The Autobiography of Nelson Mandela : With Connections (HRW library) 119 reviews Nelson Mandela
Holt Rinehart & Winston, 2000
Must Read This is a fantastic book that provides great insight into one of the most inspirational leaders in modern history. His story in particular and the anti-apartheid struggles in general are fascinating and provide extremely valuable lessons. With his humbleness and incredibly lucid and organized writing style (which admittedly did surprise me), this could be the best autobiography out there. One can ...

The Talbot Odyssey 40 reviews Nelson DeMille
Grand Central Publishing, 1991
Excellent spy thriller, lots of action This was the most far out plot in any of the DeMille books and like a couple of others, it had a lot of characters and a lot of action. That can be a good thing, but it can also be a bit distracting, I enjoy DeMilles later works that have a single protagonist and follow that characters POV most of the way a bit more than I like this format.
This isn't the type of book to read a bit then go ...

Willie Nelson: An Epic Life 9 reviews Joe Nick Patoski
Little, Brown and Company, 2008
I learned so much about Willie Nelson from Joe Nick Patoski's book No matter how many stories you have heard about Willie Nelson, or what you know about him -- I promise that you will learn new things about him when you read Joe Nick Patoski's book, 'Willie Nelson: An Epic Life."
I have been reading Joe Nick's articles about Willie Nelson for years. It's always like I'm sitting down listening him to tell a story. You can kind of hear his southern accent ...

The Gold Coast 192 reviews Nelson DeMille
Grand Central Publishing, 1997
Worth your gold! Nelson DeMille's The Gold Coast is my favorite DeMille book. John Sutter is a local lawyer with a somewhat kooky wife from old money. In walks a mobster who buys the mansion next door even as Sutter's wife's family can't afford the upkeep on their old pile of stone.
The narrative pits Sutter more against himself than the mobster as the two spar over odd issues as well as Sutter's wife. But ...

Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics 10 reviews Robert M. Kliegman, Richard E. Behrman, ...
Saunders, 2007
New Edition Available The 17th edition of the Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics is available now. I have seen it on the publisher's website. This textbook is one of the main physician-level educational sources for pediatrics, and I highly recommend it for the personal libraries of all medical professionals as well as those in training. No matter what your field, there will always be the potential that you will become ...

Word of Honor 89 reviews Nelson DeMille
Grand Central Publishing, 1998
Gut-Wrenching Masterpiece Word of Honor is a tantalizing human drama with an intriguing moral subplot. Benjamin Tyson is a successful corporate businessman who 17 years ago served as an officer in Vietnam. His platoon engaged in a horrific incident (think My-Lai); he swore to never speak of it again. But the issue has resurfaced and begins to tear down Tyson's life: family, reputation, sanity. Through it all, Tyson ...

Miss Nelson Has a Field Day 5 reviews Harry G. Allard
Houghton Mifflin, 1988
I loved Miss Nelson Has a Field Day!! I am eleven years old, and I love Miss Nelson Has a Field Day because it was funny and interesting. I liked it when Miss Viola Swamp called one boy, "Smarty". It made me laugh!! I think other kids should read this because it is a really good book. I think it is even better than the first two Miss Nelson books. All kids would love this book!!

Miss Nelson Is Back (Reading Rainbow) 5 reviews Harry G. Allard
Houghton Mifflin, 1986
Miss Nelson Is Back-The Timeless Classic ~I read this book for the first time as a choice for storytelling in my forensics class, and as i developed the characters, voices, and knowledge of this book, the more i loved it! This book tells of school kids whose teacher leaves for a week to get her tonsils taken out, they think (on the assumption of an older kid) that they will get a mean horrid teacher named Viola Swamp!!! They end up ...

Wild Fire 20 reviews Nelson DeMille
Vision, 2007
Suspenseful, exciting and at times hysterical! I loved this book! The plot and characters were so interesting. I loved the witty banter between the main character, John Corey and his wife Kate. It's one of the few books that had me laughing out loud! I listened to the book on CD and Scott Brick did an AWESOME job as the voice of John Corey and the other characters.

By the Rivers of Babylon 54 reviews Nelson DeMille
Grand Central Publishing, 1990
Rivers of Babylon is NOT DeMille's first book I still rate this novel very high, as it was a huge departure from his earlier 12 or 13 paperback novels (I have 12). As with any book of this genre, the dating hurts its 'suspension of disbelief' but the characters are very good, as is the infrastructure and movement details.
Highly recommended (and required, if you are a true fan)

Fusion: Turning First-Time Guests into Fully-Engaged Members of Your Church 15 reviews Nelson Searcy, Jennifer Dykes Henson
Regal Books, 2008
A Must Read for All Church Assimilation Directors I read Nelson's book this morning, handed it to my Assimilation Director this afternoon, and sent Nelson a note tonight, congratulating him on a fine piece of work. New Song has been doing many of the things Nelson suggests for a long time, but his is a systematic approach that thinks through and closes the gap on each potential point where a newcomer might fall through the cracks.
I doubt if ...

The Tao of Willie: A Guide to the Happiness in Your Heart 28 reviews Willie Nelson, Turk Pipkin
Gotham, 2007
Backstage with Willie I deployed to Afghanistan in May 2006. The morning of my departure, I received a phone call from both of the authors of this book. Willie and Turk wished me luck and a safe return on my journey. It was a memory that has been with me ever since. Just this past week, I had the fortune of getting to see Willie Nelson in concert (The Last of Breed Tour) for the first time in my 33 years. It was ...
