John Kennedy Toole

Not related to The Arcade Fire
If you're an Arcade Fire fan and are buying this book, keep in mind that the band itself has stated that this book has nothing to do with their album Neon Bible.

The Neon Rain: A Dave Robicheaux Novel28 reviews
James Lee Burke

Pocket, 2002

Short book, but jam-packed story!
This is the first book in the James Lee Burke series with Detective Dave Robicheaux. Takes place in New Orleans, reads like a Dashiell Hammett or Raymond Chandler story - old fashioned, hard-boiled detective story. Rich in characters and a sense of Louisiana. Doesn't take long to read, but I highly recommend it!!

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days, Volume 32 reviews
Fumino Hayashi

ADV Manga, 2006

Yay! Love Triangles!
Yeah, this evangelion was a blast to start off, can't wait to finish it. Come on, didn't you wanna know what would it have been like if Asuka didn't come from such a bad background, or if Shinji still had his mom, Yui around? Or if Gendo was more....humane? Or Rei being such a cheery and bright girl, unlike the cold clones that were so loyal to Gendo in the original canon. Or if Asuka and Rei ...

Arturo Perez-Reverte

Harvest Books, 2004

Eucharistic Detective Story with a Keystone Cops Flair
Ten years after its initial English Language publication, I've finally read "The Seville Communion," and I apologize to Arturo Perez-Reverte for having ignored it all these years! It's one of his best and best-written stories. Kudos to Sonia Soto, translator, as her work is nearly perfect, much better than some later translated works of this author. Arturo Perez-Reverte is a master at setting ...

One Hundred Great Essays (Penguin Academics Series) (3rd Edition) (Penguin Academics)3 reviews
Robert J. DiYanni

Longman, 2007

One Great Book
I give up. There's no way I can communicate, within a reasonable investment of my time, the many great things about this book. But if you've an interest in the essay genre, and have not read it, you're doing yourself a great disservice. Reviewing the table of contents removes any need for me to comment on the actual essays. From staples like Montaigne and Lamb to contemporary pieces from Dave ...

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Vol. 131 reviews

VIZ Media LLC, 2004

More of what we want to know
At first when i bought the manga I expected either, a totally parallel story with no points in common or the same exact amazing story. Instead i a mixture of both as it is the same anime story but re-drawn and focusing a lot more in the psychologies of the characters and overall, on the human instrumentallity project, that is what remains the darkest after the anime

Neon Vernacular: New and Selected Poems (Wesleyan Poetry)6 reviews
Yusef Komunyakaa

Wesleyan, 1993

LANGUAGE LIT UP: SOUL-TO-SOUL COMMUNICATION
After I saw the movie "Il Postino" ("The Postman"), I was so moved and intrigued I had to go check out the poetry of Pablo Neruda. And after I heard Yusef Komunyakaa read from his own work, I immediately had to buy this collection of his poetry, NEON VERNACULAR, a book I have singularly cherished ever since. Long ago, a friend defined poetry for me as "the marriage of meaning and music." I ...

DragonArt41 reviews
Jessica "Neon Dragon" Peffer

Impact, 2005

Wonderful book!
I was extrememly pleased with this book. I love to draw, but i'm not that great. It does an excellent job explaining things to you and helping you understand why to draw things the way they show you. I think I was pretty successful at drawing some of the images in the book. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn how to draw such amazing creatures.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Vol. 210 reviews

VIZ Media LLC, 2004

The Most Thought-Provoking Manga in a long time...
How to do justice to Neon Genesis Evangelion? I'm not entirely sure it's possible to describe this book with words. Yes, it's a comic book--but not in the sense most Westerners will think of them, or even the style of most manga. Neon Genesis Evangelion (Japanese "Shinseki Ebangerion") was one of the most controversial manga in Japan for the very reason it's so enjoyable. Unlike most comics, ...

Good different look at a great series
What can I say? It's a great continuation of a new way to look at the Neon Genesis Evangalion series. A good read^-^

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Volume 104 reviews
Yoshiyuki Sadamoto

VIZ Media LLC, 2007

At Long Last!
We who have followed this series have waited a long time for this installment of the manga version of the Evangelion saga. Similarities to the anime are still there, but differences make themselves felt. In some ways, we get a greater view into the psyches of the characters -- what they are thinking and feeling at points in the story. The focus on the relationships between Shinji, Rei, Asuka, ...

Alternate-universe take on the popular Japanese animated show
Intended for readers age thirteen to adult, the sixth and final volume of Neon Genesis Evangelion Angelic Days concludes Fumino Hayashi's alternate-universe take on the popular Japanese animated show and its characters with an array of short stories set at varying times in the characters' lives. Though the world of Angelic Days is less bleak than that of the anime, and its protagonists are less ...

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Vol. 93 reviews

VIZ Media LLC, 2004

Where the differences sock you in the face
This is a review for the evangelion manga, vol 9. Because it appears as if Borders is being a little lax about including pictures or information, I'm going to add a little extra information before getting on with the review. The cover features Kaworu in the foreground, and Asuka in the background. For you who don't know whose those characters are or what they look like, Kaworu is a pretty boy ...

ADV Manga, 2006

The Way It Should Have Been!
YESSS! No more whining Shinji or emo Rei! I, along with all other Evangelion fans, are probably jumping for joy. *jump*. In the anime series, a small protion of the final episode relates to a parallel universe where this manga series begins. The manga Evangelion Angelic Days takes place in New Tokyo 3, where young Shinji Ikari wakes up in a place where the main story of Evangelion starts ...

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days, Volume 23 reviews
Fumino Hayashi

ADV Manga, 2006

A good alternative to the anime.
First of all, let me just say I'm completely obsessed with Evangelion. I loved the series, read the manga, and am now waiting impatiently for Angelic Days Vol. 3. At first, I approached Angelic Days with caution. The artwork doesn't seem that good at first and the mood was a sharp contradiction to that of the original series. However, I soon began enjoying it much more than I expected. The ...

When Christmas Comes23 reviews
Debbie Macomber

Mira, 2004

Loved It!
I just finished When Christmas Comes a few days ago and LOVED it. I can't remember the last time I read about such an engaging cast of characters which compelled me to return to their world every time I closed the book. I literally looked forward to every bit of quiet time I had so I could see what happened to the absent-minded professor, the somewhat jaded divorcee, the cheery Kindergarten ...

This manual is excellent!
Every Chilton manual I own blows the comparative haynes manual out of the water. Haynes manuals are for those who like to do the job half way. So finish it right and buy this manual.
