Nightmare USA: The Untold Story of the Exploitation Independents (Fab Press Limited)13 reviews
Stephen Thrower

FAB Press, 2008

A History of Violence 1970-85. [Sections below]
Price: I've talked to many people that feel the price is a bit steep and I agree the book isn't cheap. It is however 500 pages filled with interviews, pictures (everywhere), and essays. Think Arnold Schwarzenegger's The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding : The Bible of Bodybuilding, Fully Updated and Revised size wise but about horror films. I mean the book is no joke and there could be ...

Nightmare of Ecstasy- The Life and Art of Edward D. Wood, Jr.16 reviews
Rudolph Grey

Faber Faber Inc, 1994

Bitter Truths of Personal Failure, Pornography, and Alcoholism
Born in 1924, Wood was a highly decorated WWII Marine with an itch to wear women's clothes, make movies, and drink to excess. During his lifetime he would be notorious for transvestitism and alcoholism; he would also be involved in some twenty films, all of them cheaply made, all of them remarkable for their ludicrous incompetence. At the time of his 1978 death he was a raving drunk scratching ...

The No-Cry Sleep Solution for Toddlers and Preschoolers: Gentle Ways to Stop Bedtime Battles and Improve Your ...50 reviews
Elizabeth Pantley

McGraw-Hill, 2005

After 4 years, I FINALLY understand
How could I have parented for 4 years and never really understood the sleep of my child. She slept with me for the first several years and then I was stumped. I had another baby, a husband, and 2 cats plus my toddler and myself fighting for space in our king-sized bed. Why was she so wound up at 9pm? AHA! She should have been getting ready for bed at the first signs of tired- at SIX THIRTY! ...

The Haunted: One Family's Nightmare16 reviews
Robert Curran

St Martins Mass Market Paper, 1994

A nightmare close to home
I live 2 miles away from West Pittston and know people who either knew the Smurls or who are related to them. I actually attended their national press conference when all of these events occurred. I will *never* forget the feeling that I had when I first heard the story as a teen. I used to be really well read with this topic but once the 'drama' of it all died down I didn't think much of it. I ...

Your Basic Nightmare (Sweet Valley High Senior Year, 6)56 reviews
Francine Pascal

Sweet Valley, 1999

Good but just a comment...
This is one of the best books of the series. I love the Conner-Liz thing. However... I just wanted to point out, I think in this book something like Maria and Liz go into the Riot and laugh as Tia pull them into the crowd. It's something like "Liz laughed then coughed at the second hand smoke." Smoking's been outlawed in California bars for a while. Just a comment.

Book of Nightmares63 reviews
John Peel

Bt Bound, 1999

Great Book; Damned Publishers
The Diadem series has been my favorite book since I was ten years old. I am now fifteen and still remember almost every little detail. To bad he finished the series so abruptly, right? Then again, he didn't. John Peel has written the seventh book and is still working on book eight. The only reason why the series is not sold in stores is because the publishing companies refuse to publish ...

The Lost Years: Surviving a Mother and Daughter's Worst Nightmare75 reviews
Kristina Wandzilak, Constance Curry

Jeffers Press, 2006

A Million TRUTHFUL Pieces
This book is so clearly one whose time has come. Waiting for a decade to pass before writing the story down allowed the events to be processed and fully digested. Feelings on all sides were clearly no longer raw, hostility had passed, and growth had occured which gave way for honesty and truth to shine through on every page. This book gives people hope that change - in many forms - is ...

Crime Novels: American Noir of the 1930s and 40s: The Postman Always Rings Twice / They Shoot Horses, Don't ...12 reviews
Horace McCoy, Kenneth Fearing, ...

Library of America, 1997

A Real Discovery: 4 or 5 of these make amazing reading
This is an impressive collection of early and now scarce Noir novels. "The Big Clock" and "Nightmare Alley" are particularly hard to find outside of this volume. Cain's "The Postman Always Rings Twice" was probably the first crime novel I ever really got into, and it's a stunning departure from Agatha Christie-style mysteries. So much happens in this short book (as turns of plot, but also ...

Nightmare Hall: The Silent Scream10 reviews
D. Hoh

Tandem Library, 2004

Wow...
Wow. I was in my school library with my best friend Gisselle (which is a coincidence since a girl in the book is named Giselle) picking out a book to keep. I came across this book and it looked so interesting so I kept it. She had the same book. We both absoloutely love to read. Ever since that day Diane Hoh has been my favorite author. I read the book and I loved it! It's so mysterious. She ...

Falling Down12 reviews
David T. Boyd

iUniverse, Inc., 2005

Falling Down by David T. Boyd
The story immediately drew me in. I really couldn't put it down, every time I tried, I picked it right back up within minutes. Each chapter enticed to me to read on, I wanted to know what would happen next. This debut book is a great mystery to be read within a sitting or two. I look forward to the series, these characters are so interesting, I want to know more.

Nightmare Mountain10 reviews
Peg Kehret

Puffin, 1999

Excellent!
I actually read this book way back in 1993 as a lad of thirteen. Then, about two or three years later I got an urge to read it again. Of course, that was back when internet access for us blind folks was little more than a pipedream, so there was no posting online reviews. Anyway, I was hooked from the beginning. Twelve-year-old Molly Newman is looking forward to a relaxing vacation on her Aunt ...

From Victim To Victor : A Step-By-Step Guide For Ending The Nightmare of Identity Theft9 reviews
Mari J. Frank, Mari Frank

Porpoise Press, 1998

Excellent guide during a harrowing time
Like many, I though it could never happen to me -- But it did. Both me and my wife had our ID stolen! Within 24 hours, there were more than 20 fraudulent applications to credit granters, not to mention the fraudulent use of my credit and debit cards. It was scary. I needed help. I got this book. Ms. Frank takes the perfect tone: it happened, now let's fix it. The step by step directions are ...

Martin & Malcolm & America: A Dream or a Nightmare11 reviews
James H. Cone

Orbis Books, 1992

James Cone's MARTIN AND MALCOLM AND AMERICA Remains Top List
Dr James Cone's MARTIN AND MALCOLM AND AMERICA: A DREAM OR A NIGHTMARE is one of the best books I've encountered. Cone discusses the rhetorical strategies of Martin Luther King, Jr, and Malcolm X as they applied to their particular audiences: King to the South and Malcolm X to the North. Cone argues that Martin King's strategy of non-violent protest, while effective in the extremely ...

OF DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES
Just as Martha McGuire is dreaming about attending a spring gala wearing a burgundy taffeta "Charles Worth" ball gown, who is a famous designer in England, her father, John McGuire, breaks the news that she will be married to Jebediah Whitaker. Martha is in disbelief since she is only 18 years old and interested in attending sophisticated gala parties. Jebediah has three children and is 10 years ...

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: P/V/G (Piano Vocal Series)12 reviews

Hal Leonard Corporation, 1993

Good song book with guitar chords
There's lot of stuff in this tiny cheap book. It's obviously not aimed at orchestrators but more at the movie fans who expect some nice evenings, singing these excellent tunes. I give this book a 5 because of the guitar chords which are systematically drawn each time they occur. It wasn't expected, especially as we're dealing with a piano vocal song book, so: 2 thumbs up=5 stars !

The Measurement Nightmare: How the Theory of Constraints Can Resolve Conflicting Strategies, Policies, and ...10 reviews
Debra Smith

CRC, 1999

Getting to the core of the problem
The book focusses on the root problem behind all those dysfunctional metrics around us. It explains very clearly (also for people not trained in financial jargon) how the wrong focus on the wrong metrics in the top of the organization can have impact on the complete organization and may impact negatively the quality of decisions throughout the company. Very much recommended!

Hamlet Dreams12 reviews
Jennifer Barlow

Aardwolf Press, 2001

Winner of the WordWeaving Award for Excellence
For years Zac has visited the Other Place, visiting medieval fortresses, Avalon, Sherwood Forrest and anywhere else his imagination takes him. Normally he snaps right out of what he calls "Hamlet Dreams" when he hears the sound of an alarm, an ambulance passing, or when he feels a light touch. Since he started dating Cecile, Zac has not visited the Other Place as frequently. When he does visit, ...
