Oahu Restaurants And Dining With Honolulu And Waikiki2 reviews
Robert Carpenter, Cindy Carpenter

Holiday Publishing Inc., 2008

oahu restaurants and dining
Delightful read! My husband & I contemplating a trip to the Oahu, to celebrate our 60th Birthdays, so we have been searching for a Dining Guide. We hit the jack pot when we found this little treasure. In addition to providing all of the practical information: dress code, price range, type of cuisine, the authors have given each dining establishment a personality in the Impression Section. With ...

Oahu Trailblazer: Where to Hike, Snorkel, Surf from Honolulu to the North Shore (Trailblazer)20 reviews
Jerry Sprout, Janine Sprout

Diamond Valley Company, 2006

Our first visit to Waikiki
We found this to be an extremely well organized book for getting around and not feeling lost. It's a good one to read well before leaving to get an idea of what's there. Driving can be tricky and their maps inside were much needed. Places we never thought to explore delivered big payouts. Lanikai Beach for instance, was the most beautiful walk we've ever taken and famous Waikiki was wall to ...

Oahu Revealed: The Ultimate Guide to Honolulu, Waikiki & Beyond (Oahu Revisited)112 reviews
Andrew Doughty

Wizard Publications Inc., 2007

Everything you need in one book.
As with most resort destinations there's no shortage of written material to mull through when planning a vacation. I ordered this book based on the reviews on Amazon and once I received it I put all the other material in the recycling bin. It was simply the best! My only regret is that I didn't order two copies as we're a family of four and quite often we found ourselves arguing over whose turn ...

The Hikers Guide to Oahu8 reviews
Stuart M. Ball Jr.

University of Hawaii Press, 2000

The only book you need!
Working as an outdoor guide in Hawaii for a summer gave me a chance to discover the island of Oahu. It also helped me realize the that is the ONLY guide to hiking on Oahu that is worth buying. Not only do you get VERY accurate trail descriptions, you also get driving directions, directions from TheBus and information on flora and fauna in the area. I dare you to try and get lost!

Top 10 Honolulu & Oahu (EYEWITNESS TOP 10 TRAVEL GUIDE)1 review
DK Publishing

DK Travel, 2008

Guide to Oahu
The guide was great if all you had was a short time. All it lists are the top ten in any area and since I had more time (1-1/2 weeks), there is so much to see and do in Oahu that I needed another guide book. For example it listed the top ten restaurants which are the most expensive. I like the less expensive restaurants (termed mediocre in Frommer's). Additionally in the airport there are a ...

Honolulu Waikiki & Oahu (Regional Guide)3 reviews
Glenda Bendure, Ned Friary

Lonely Planet, 2006

A Must-Have Guide
My sister-in-law and I used this book daily on our trip to Oahu. We started referring to it as "the Bible"! Lots of info but not overwhelming. Fun tips on how to navigate popular tourist attractions. All information was accurate and up to date for our January 2007 trip. Highly recommended.

Oahu Trails: Walks, Strolls And Treks on the Capital Isle2 reviews
Kathy Morey

Wilderness Press, 2005

Hiking On Oahu For Dummies
I recently read and used the 93' version of the book. This is a great hiking manual for the island of Oahu. The author does such a great job of describing each step of your hike that you can't make a mistake. In the reading you can visualize what the hikes will entail before deside which one you would like to take. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced hiker this book will be of ...

Franko's Map of Oahu, the Gathering Place2 reviews
Frank Nielsen

Franko's Maps, 2001

Fabulous and beautiful map to use and keep!
I keep the map on my wall, it is so beautiful, and no advertising. It is like a guide book of the best ideas, all on one page and easy to keep handy. Things to see and do are described with humor and interest, with phone numbers and contact information. Very helpful! Incredible colors, durable waterproof paper that lasts.

Jerry Sprout, Janine Sprout

Diamond Valley Company, 2007

Well researched book delivers choices
This guide is the Real Deal and presents a Hawaiian Big Picture. I like to read travel guides and always put lots of time into choosing our destination. I'm the take charge one in the family and find it always pays to plan ahead. For Hawaii, I have to say this guidebook is at the top of my list for realistic answers to absolutely everything about every island. I was most impressed with the ...

Frommer's Honolulu, Waikiki & Oahu (Frommer's Complete)9 reviews
Jeanette Foster

Frommers, 2007

Easy going vacation
I found this book made everything easy to find. Our daughter's wedding was our excuse to visit Oahu for the first time. Frommers made it easy to play tourist and wind our way through the streets of Honolulu without a hitch. Paid for itself many times over for its restaurant ratings alone. I personally give it high high marks for accuracy.

Day Hikes on Oahu, 3rd (Day Hikes)2 reviews
Robert Stone

Day Hike Books, Inc., 2001

good hikes to do with kids
We have another hiking book for Oahu but found many of the hikes to be too long and too challenging to do with young children so I bought this one. I am very happy with it. All of the hikes/walks are pretty short. Long enough to get out and get some exercise but not too long. The book lists hikes throughout the entire island-I think there is good variety. Some of them are just simple beach ...

Indispensable!!
If you want to see Oahu, don't go without this book! It's amazingly innovative, informative and useful!! It's the best guide book I've ever experienced! We paid $18.95 for it in January 2008 near Waikiki. It was worth way more than that to us.

The Best Map Of Honolulu And Oahu Available
I have used several maps of Honolulu and Oahu, but without question this is the best of the bunch. Not only is this map detailed and current, it is logical and complete. There is an overall map of Oahu, and several smaller inset maps of key places including Honolulu, Waikiki, Kaneohe, the Mokapu Peninsula, Laie, and Mamala Bay (including the huge Ala Wai Harbor). The Honolulu map is very detailed ...

Superb Study
This is the best volume so far of the Osprey Fortress Series. It was written by two long time members of the Coast Defense Study Group, the preminent organization dedicated to the history and preservation of US Coast Defense Installations. The book is crammed full of details and facts, and is accompanied by beautiful drawings, plans, maps and photos. This book is a perfect example of how ...
