I just used this book to navigate through the Dolly Sods Wilderness loop last weekend. The book was an invaluable tool because of the (somewhat) detailed trail maps it offers and the elevation profile of the trail. I own a lot of Falcon Guide books. They are excellent. I tear out the pages for the hike I'm about to go on, follow the directions, read about the history or flora or fauna during lunch, then put the pages back in the book when I get home.

Helpful Guide
Very helpful guide to hiking in the park. Good trail directions and maps. Somewhat limited in descriptions of what you will see on the hikes but they did a good job and I found the guide very helpful. I would suggest buying their other book: Hiking California's Desert Parks if you are going to go anywhere else as the Joshua Tree hikes are essentially covered in that book.

Good resource for planning hikes in SNP. Good maps & elevation profiles, although I wouldn't wander too far from Skyline Drive without a more detailed map like those offered by the Potomac Appalchian Trail Club.

We bought this book to use as an alternative to TV-filled weekends. So far, so good! The projects are well written and easy to follow. This is just one reason she is a very popular children's science author. The book is well written and contains interesting, age-appropriate topics for students to explore. We spent the first few days trying to narrow our choices to just a few to explore first!
