Another good tale from PC Cast....
Shannon Parker thought she'd settled into Partholon and her role as Epona's Chosen (see DIVINE BY MISTAKE for more details) but she was wrong. She is about to find herself sent back to Oklahoma as her mirror image, Rhiannon, is trying to unleash a great evil. Will Shannon be able to defeat this terrible evil without her close confidantes in Partholon? And how will she handle being so close to ...

The Devil's Hunt5 reviews
P. C. Doherty

St Martins Pr, 1998

A Don't Miss Read for Historical Mystery Fans
Oxford in the 14th Century was a dirty, tumultuous, unique locale, and Doherty's prose conveys it with nuance rather than adjective overload. Much preferred over the Ian Morson Falconer series, Doherty's Hugh Corbett series reaches a major turning point in this book. From the beginning, it is clear that events of long-lasting significance in the career of His Majesty King Edward's Principal ...

Divine By Blood (Partholon Novels)7 reviews
P.C. Cast

Luna, 2007

Divine Goodbye
I didn't expect to enjoy Divine by Blood as much as I did. I've read both Divine by Mistake and Divine by Choice, I liked the story where it stood and didn't see a need for a third novel. fortunately curiosity got the better of of me, otherwise I would have passed by an excellent book. Morrigan Parker was born to be somone very special, only she doesn't know it yet. What she does know is that ...

Goddess of Love (Goddess Summoning, Book 5)17 reviews
P.C. Cast

Berkley Trade, 2007

Another great book by PC Cast....
Dorreth "Pea" Chamberlain was tired of being forgettable. All she wanted to do was catch the eye of hunky fireman, Griffin DeAngelo. Instead, she once again embarrasses herself in front of him. Using an incantation from a book, she invokes the aid of the goddess Venus. With a little help from Hera, Venus now finds herself bound to Pea until Pea finds happiness. Little does Venus realize but ...

Remaining a PC Cast fan for sure!
I fell in LOVE with PC Cast first book, Goddess by Mistake, and have stuck with her ever since. Persephanie and Hades is one of my favorite myths. I have been wanting to do a retelling of it myself, but it looks like she beat me to it...though my version was a little darker, so I still may give it a go. This was a wonderful love story I think. It told the REAL meaning of love to me. I will ...

Goddess of the Rose (Goddess Summoning, Book 4)23 reviews
P.C. Cast

Berkley Trade, 2009

Wonderful grown-up fairy tale, with heart-felt characters!
Goddess of the Rose by P.C. Cast This is a lovely paranormal romance. It is like a wonderful grown-up fairy tale. I believe the author even states that she based it on the premise of Beauty and the Beast, but in this case the Beast did not transform into the `usual' prince at the end. If you are looking for a fast read. This book is NOT it. P.C. Cast builds her characters slowly ...

The Angel of Death (A medieval mystery featuring Hugh Corbett)4 reviews
P.C. Doherty

Headline Book Publishing, 1991

Liked this book very much
Charecters clearly defined and well thought out and all based on historical events a very nice touch. For some strange reason it reminded by of that old Sean Connery movie "In the Name of the Rose". This is the first time I tried this series. I intend to look for more. Overall-Highly recommended

Loved it,
A great way to spend a rainy afternoon. The first book I read by P.C. Cast but not my last. Divine By Mistake was a delightful book, it does have it's dark moments though. I want to read the rest of the books in the series.

P.C. Cast Still Hasn't Let me Down!
I started reading WARRIOR RISING by P.C. Cast recently, simply because she is an amazing author that has never done me wrong. I've read everything else she's ever written, and I've loved each novel. This novel has turned out to be so much more than I ever expected. The story is about Kat, who dies in a tragic car accident in the modern world. As a psychologist, she's used to dealing with ...

The Purchasing and Supply Manager's Guide To The C.P.M. Exam7 reviews
Fred Sollish, John Semanik

Sybex, 2005

Read it and passed the exams!
Wow- I love the book but especially the CD. I bought the book, took a couple days to cram, practiced on the test samples, took the actual exams over three days, and passed all. Nothing can take the place of subject matter expertise, which is tough to get from one book, but this sure helped. There is NO WAY I would have passed without this as study aid.

A great book
This is a great book, with a complex, well done plot. I enjoyed it from beginning to end; in fact, I don't beleive I stopped reading for more than a couple minutes once I started, staying up into the night to complete it.

Ornamentation According to C.P.E. Bach and J.J. Quantz1 review
Kris Palmer

1st Books Library, 2001

A Must-Have for Aspiring Classical Flutists
Dr. Palmer has exhaustively researched ornamentation from the classical era, synthesizing the works of Quantz and Bach and contributing a considerable amount of original scholarship. The many graphical examples of ornamentation in the book make the narrative very easy to follow. You'll want to keep your flute nearby as you read this book, so that you can experiment with the affects recommended ...

C. P. Cavafy: Collected Poems6 reviews
C. P. Cavafy

Princeton University Press, 1992

Cavafy in Greek...
I own a copy of the original collection of Cavafy's poems (in Greek) and I find that this translation has measured up to the task of translating the forceful and sensual poetry as closely as possible. And for anyone who cannot read Greek, this book will bring you as close as possible to the intense emotional response of reading the original. A must have for any poetry lover.

God Stalk23 reviews
P. C. Hodgell

Berkley, 1983

Strikingly memorable
This is more story than review but... I read "God Stalk" when it first came out. It hooked me in a big way, with vivid images and a highly memorable heroine. I craved more and every time I went into a bookstore for several years afterward, I would religiously look to see if Hodgell had come out with a sequel. Eventually I gave up looking, with deep regret. Years later I discovered, to my intense ...

The Collected Poems: with parallel Greek text (Oxford World's Classics)1 review
C.P. Cavafy, Anthony Hirst, ...

Oxford University Press, USA, 2007

Scholarly, enjoyable, authentic translations of Cavafy's work.
The translation is authentic and scholarly, maintaining the ironic and laconic aspects of the original Greek. For those with any knowledge of modern or ancient Greek, having the original Greek text on the facing page allows for the reader to enjoy Cavafy's brilliant use of the Greek language. For non-Greek readers, there is another volume by Edmund Keeley of Princeton University which is also ...
