awesome!
This book has helped me so much, I am able to live a simpler, yet more spiritually filled life. This book shows you how to get closer to God and live a better life in very simple steps. Very clear and right to the point. I wish everyone could read this book. The concepts are easy to grasp, but it takes a sincere effort to make the necessary changes. Well worth the read; it is a reference ...

A Practical Method for *Beautfiul* Singing
The story goes that Vaccai used to teach the wealthy sons and daughters of Englishmen, and it was well known in that time that only 'fallen' men and women would attempt a life on the stage, and never those deemed noble. It was the method at that time that students such as these would go through years of just learning scales and singing melodies the "Sol-fa" method. Vaccai thought that his ...

A must have for starting with process improvement
This book has all you need not only to start, but also to continue with process improvement. It covers all basic steps you need to fulfill, gives you a broad overview about what you have to have in mind and also gives nice examples. I'm sorry I didn't have it much before, it could save me a lot's of mistakes I did. Of course, I wouldn't call it a Bible, for more details in any area you'll need ...

5 Starts But With a Qualification
I own both this 26 song book/Cd as well as the 24 song book/CD from John Keene and Schirmer. I use the John Paton 26 song version in order to read the excellent one page introductions it provides for each song.. However my singing teacher feels that the piano accompaniments in the Paton book are pretentious, and he prefers the piano accompaniments in the Keene/Schirmer book. So, I use the CD ...

An excellent systematical method for training the voice.
The premise behind Vaccai's method is similar to that of the great Corri. While the latter tunes one's intervals through the correlation between various chords and the messa di voce, Vaccai composed short songs to guide the voice. Corri trains the voice; Vaccai leads one to sing, say, a trill, in the context of a song; and the end result is singing Verdi with ease.

It's on my Top 10
How much can a man love his country? How much can he love his son? His God? Can justice prevail when man cannot? What is forgiveness? Redemption? Grace? To consider all these elements in one novel is not possible. Or is it? "Cry, the Beloved Country" is all these things and more. It is forgiveness writ large. It is agape love in the doing. It is the story of two fathers, each with a son. One ...

Good for ear training, too.
Vaccai's book has been used in many voice studios for decades, and is a cornerstone of vocal literature. The first songs teach intervals: scales, thirds, fourth, fifths, half-steps, etc. Later in the book, more skills are taught. It follows an order, just like beginning piano literature does. Songs are written on two lines, one for the Italian language and one for the English language.

Inspired me in my own writing career
I read The Green Book when I was in the 5th grade, and I loved it! It has been 7 years since then, and the book has inpsired me, particularly one of the parts of it. I've been a writer since I could talk, and I've always loved writing. I love reading as well, but it's not nearly as broad as writing. In the scene where Sarah and Joe find out that Patti only brought a blank book and picked on her ...

highly recommended
if you are like me, you might own several mosaic books. This one is one of my favorites! Here's why: Clear, concise directions with good pictures-most projects could be done by a beginner but there are also MANY projects to make a more advanced artist happy. Great variation of mosaics-this author covers some mosaics styles I've never seen in other books. Like making your own wire mesh base ...

Ideal investment for all singers
This is a great collection of early Italian songs. Unlike the 24 Italian Songs and Arias published by Schirmer, this anthology consists of original historically accurate versions of the songs,as the composer wrote them. The other book has arrangements of the songs that were not at all what the composer had written. Furthermore, this book provides pages of biographical data of the composer, the ...

Even better than Cry, the Beloved Country
Until I read "Too Late the Phalarope," I could not imagine a novel richer and more rewarding than "Cry, the Beloved Country." Alan Paton obviously loved South Africa. In "Cry" he wrote of the wretched lives and condition of the black South African. But he imagined a better world through the lives of his major characters. In "Too Late the Phalarope," published in 1953, five years after "Cry," ...

Cornerstone of Modern Ethical Thinking
'Groundwork of the Metaphysic of Morals' by Immanuel Kant is easily the most important work devoted exclusively to thinking about morality in the history of Philosophy, especially considering it's size. Wonderfully deep and compelling
I am an English teacher and a book lover to the extreme. I use cliff notes in my class to aid students with ideas and concepts in books that might otherwise be lost on them. I like the fact that the summaries are limited on this particular version, so the students are forced to read and reread to comprehend. The book itself is one of the most beautiful, well-written, symbolic books that I have ...

review from a ten-year-old, Belfast, Maine
I thought this book was a very good one for a book report. I like how this book could mix in romance with tragedy, and how the author brings you into the story. The language was a little hard to understand, but otherwise I was able to get the book pretty well. If you are ever thinking about doing a project on the black plague, and you need an historical novel to read, then I recommend this be ...

The text is beautifully well written. Somehow, ...

A must for anyone who wants to 'get it'.
What is ISO 9001? Is it a computer program? A new blender? "ISO 9001 in Plain English" is Craig Cochram explaining ISO 9001 in a language that anyone can understand. ISO 9001 is an economic statistics system that many companies are adopting, and for the wave that coming with it, few are grasping what exactly it all means. Cochram hopes to remedy that in plain speak, free of all technical talk and ...
