CURRENT Diagnosis and Treatment Pediatrics, Nineteenth Edition (LANGE CURRENT Series) 9 reviews William Hay, Myron Levin, ...
McGraw-Hill Professional, 2008
good for interns This was my reference of choice when I was an intern at a busy major children's hospital. It's comprehensive, not too heavy to lug around, gives you the important details and gives you references as to where to go next for further reading. It's not always enough information when it comes to specific cases. I usually went to UpToDate, PedsinReview or lit searches at that point. I think this is ...

great reference this was the best baby shower gift i received. it was given to me by a friend of mine who is himself a pediatrician, and it came with other books from the AAP. my husband and i have referenced it MANY times as new parents. this book put our minds at ease more than once, as well as kept us out of doctors' offices and ERs for needless visits. though it shouldn't be used to replace a doctor's advice ...

Pocket Peds Exactly like pocket medicine for pediatrics. I survived med school rotations with pocket medicine and am now doing the same as a peds resident with this new version. Great review and references on every topic. The most comprehensive and condensed book you can carry around. I would take it over my harriet lane any day.

Pediatrics PreTest Self-Assessment and Review, Twelfth Edition (PreTest Clinical Medicine) 4 reviews Robert Yetman, Mark Hormann
McGraw-Hill Medical, 2009
Great Overview Of the few sources I looked through, this one was the best bang for the buck.
Unlike others in the PreTest series most of these questions are either similar to the shelf or very helpful to your learning. I only wish I had discovered it sooner and gone through it twice.
It is not comprehensive - nothing short of 500 pages will be I imagine, but overall this is probably one of the best books ...

Tarascon Pediatric Emergency Pocketbook, 5th Edition 9 reviews Steven G. Rothrock
Jones & Bartlett Publishers, 2006
Fast, accurate, great bang for your buck. I'm a huge fan of all the Tarascon pocket books, and this one is no exception. While it's not comprehensive by any means, and you still need a hariette lane or other such coat-pocket reference, having this in addition will help you sail through the pediatric clerkship. You can find all kinds of emergent, urgent, and even mundane daily info in here, such as how many kcals/kg/day to feed a baby, ...

Like many medical books, it is not a quick read even when you have reviewed. This is not a ...
