Ben Raab, Pat Quinn, ...

Moonstone, 2005

the phantom
i've been a phantom fan for almost 60 years. iget the phantom reguarly but it is always in black and white.so when i rec'd "death in the deep woods" and all in colour i was more than happy, on that score alone. i found the story line very good. the artwork and general inkwork etc also up to the high standard i've come to expect with the phantom.

The Undergrounds of the Phantom of the Opera: Sublimation and the Gothic in Leroux's Novel and its Progeny3 reviews
Jerrold E. Hogle

Palgrave Macmillan, 2002

A very extensive look at the Phantom
This is the most extensive, in-depth analysis you can find on the Phantom. It's not just a psychoanalytic reading though, and Dr. Hogle looks at all manifestations of the phantom-but especially the book which started it all. He provides great insights into the underlying meanings of the text and why we are ultimately intrigued by the man who becomes a phantom. He has an interesting theory on ...

A Guide for Using The Phantom Tollbooth in the Classroom2 reviews
Kathleen L. Bulloch

Teacher Created Resources, 1998

La Caseta Mágica/The Phantom Tollbooth
I loved the movie when I was a child in the seventies. Never forgot it. When I started teaching children during my late thirties (Spanish/English 4th graders), I thought of this story again. Bought the book, found the VHS and bought the teacher's manual. In 2000, it didn't work very well because my group of students didn't have enough English to enjoy the word play. Now that I have the book ...

The Phantom in the Mirror #20 (Hank the Cowdog)1 review
John R. Erickson

Puffin, 1998

Look in the mirror!
In Hank's 20th hilarious adventure, he finds himself threatened by a phantom dog from the other side of the mirror. It seems that this dog and his companion, the "Handsome Prince", have nothing better to do than threaten to take over Hank and Drover's ranch by imitating their every move from the other side of the glass. Don't miss this great book!

Phantoms in the Brain: Probing the Mysteries of the Human Mind93 reviews
V. S. Ramachandran, Sandra Blakeslee

Harper Perennial, 1999

Absolutely Fantastic Book
While this book may not be for everyone, I believe that most people will have a hard time putting it down. Ramachandran's ability to explain absurdly complicated concepts with simple language and simple methods is just one of the facets of his genius. After readking Phantoms I burned through at least 4 other books he wrote, but still Phantoms is by far the best.

The Phantom Heroine: Ghosts and Gender in Seventheenth-century Chinese Literature
Judith T. Zeitlin

University of Hawaii Press, 2007

The "phantom heroine"--in particular the fantasy of her resurrection through sex with a living man--is one of the most striking features of traditional Chinese literature. Even today the hypersexual female ghost continues to be a source of fascination in East Asian media, much like the sexually predatory vampire in American and European movies, TV, and novels. But while vampires can be of either gender, erotic Chinese ghosts are almost ...

Lynn Beach

Aladdin, 1992

Stranger in the Mirror
This book was great. I felt like I was right there in the story! It's a horror book but not too scary till the end. I recommend this book, but just to warn you, don't read the end of the book at night!

The best on the F-4 Phantom yet!
Excellent database on the F-4. This book is by far the best on the Phantom, with excellent images and an indepth study of the aircraft from its inception to its retirement. Jon Lake takes us on a detailed tour of the venerable F-4 describing all the squadrons and air wings it served with, plus all foreign operators of the Phantom with detailed descriptions on the modifications and improvements. ...
