Planetary: Crossing Worlds 7 reviews Warren Ellis, John Cassaday
Wildstorm, 2004
Some actual info. Ellis. I like him, even if he mocks us 'Merkins ruthlessly. Since there is currently no information about this collection, I'll provide the blurb from www.warrenellis.com: "Collecting: PLANETARY/THE AUTHORITY: RULING THE WORLD, and PLANETARY/JLA: TERRA OCCULTA and PLANETARY/THE BATMAN: NIGHT ON EARTH. Illustrated by Phil Jiminez and Jerry Ordway and John Cassaday." I enjoyed the Authority ...

Planetary Vol. 3: Leaving the 20th Century 12 reviews Warren Ellis
Wildstorm, 2005
Graphic SF Reader Ellis has a complex, sophisticated and highly entertaining Wold Newton type take on comics literature. Using his own characters, of course, but this is just all around fabulous. The story takes a turn, as Snow gets more aggressive about taking the fight to The Four. They are starting to learn perhaps they should not have messed with him.

Planetary Vol. 1: All Over the World and Other Stories 33 reviews Warren Ellis
Wildstorm, 2000
Graphic SF Reader It is hard to put into words the genius mythologising found within the pages of Planetary. Basically, twisted heroes as villains, pulp analogues, adventurers, and the secrets in the corners of the world, and the relationships between all those mentioned above. Just pure gold. This is Ellis' genius and knowledge of pop culture shown at its very best.

Planetary Sciences 2 reviews Imke de Pater, Jack J. Lissauer
Cambridge University Press, 2001
An outstanding textbook on planetary science What's the best book to use as a text in a senior-year course on planetary science? This one gets my vote! It seems to cover everything.
After a nice introductory chapter comes the first test for this book: a 20-page chapter on dynamics with 5 pages of exercises. And this book does a great job. It explains Lagrangian points, orbital resonances, the chaotic nature of the orbit of Pluto, ...

Planetary Vol. 2: The Fourth Man 13 reviews Warren Ellis, John Cassaday
Wildstorm, 2001
Planetary kicks in to a whole new gear I was somewhat disappointed with the previous volume of Planetary. I felt that Ellis just kind of dropped us into the action without much set up, especially in character development. The Fourth Man really improves upon the earlier premise. Ellis starts to unwind a much larger plot, while Cassaday's skills mature into true excellence. Some of the essentially single issue tales presented here ...

Planetary Herbology 3 reviews Michael Tierra
Lotus Press, 1988
Wonderful Book, everyone should have a copy I have every single one of this authors books. The information in them is terrific, including this one. It covers the different types of herbal philosophies. Mainly the Chinese and Ayurvedic systems. He integrates them both with western herbs, and makes it work. I won't say his book has everything and every herb but it has a lot, and some of the more unusual herbs you usually can't find in the ...

Introduction to Planetary Science: The Geological Perspective Gunter Faure, Teresa M. Mensing
Springer, 2007
This textbook is intended to be used in a lecture course for college students majoring in Earth Sciences. Planetary science provides an opportunity for these students to apply a wide range of subject matter pertaining to the Earth to the study of other planets and their principal satellites. In this way, planetary science tends to unify subjects in the Earth Sciences that are traditionally taught separately. Therefore, planetary science is ...

Planetary System, The (3rd Edition) 2 reviews David Morrison, Tobias Owen
Benjamin Cummings, 2002
Stars and Galaxies and Nebula, oh my! I bought The Planetary System for an Astronomy class and enjoyed the text immensely. I think Morrison and Owen should have added a few more explanations of events/heavenly bodies in a few places but overall this is a great book for introducing astronomy and definitely kept my interest! The cdrom that comes with the book "Voyager Skygazer" turned out to be fabulous fun although a little ...

Practical Planetary Magick : Working the Magick of the Classical Planets in the Western Mystery Tradition 1 review Sorita d'Este, David Rankine
Avalonia, 2007
Worthy of Six Stars! Whilst I have thoroughly enjoyed other books by these authors, this is by far my favourite book by these them and indeed possibly my favourite book on the subject of magick of the last decade. I think its worthy of six stars, if such a thing was possible.
Planetary Magick should be and in my opinion is one of the corner stones of magical practice, regardless of tradition. Understanding how the ...

Planetary Science: The Science of Planets Around Stars 1 review George H. A. Cole, Michael M. Woolfson
Taylor & Francis, 2002
An unusual textbook I admit it. I like comprehensive textbooks that cover a subject convincingly. If I had to teach a class in Planetary Science, I'd probably pick the book by de Pater and Lissauer. That's a really good comprehensive text. But this one is good too. And I certainly would enjoy teaching planetary science from either book.
What this book does is cover descriptive planetary science in twelve ...

Gaia: The Practical Science of Planetary Medicine 2 reviews James Lovelock
Gaia Books, 1991
Manual for the 20th Century We are all well aware of the world-wide problems concerning humans harming the environment, such as ozone depletants and cars causing global warming. We are a great deal less aware, however, of the real damage done to the earth and whether or not the planet can recover. In this revolutionary book Lovelock describes his profound new theory of planetary ecology. The Gaia theory views the earth as ...

"A Planetary Awakening" invites one to alter oneself "from the inside out" by providing an interior oasis while surrounded by exterior chaos.

The Planetary Scientist's Companion 3 reviews Katharina Lodders, Bruce Fegley
Oxford University Press, USA, 1998
Useful compilation of data I have not found the same level of errors as the previous reviewer mainly because I am in a different field of planetary science, and I really appreciated having a useful and readily available text as a source of data. The chemical tables are excellent and rigorous, as one would expect from two planetary chemists. The meteorite data compilation is among the best I've ever seen. Planetary data ...

The Copernican Revolution: Planetary Astronomy in the Development of Western Thought 13 reviews Thomas S. Kuhn
Harvard University Press, 1992
Case Study of a Scientific Revolution "The Copernican Revolution" tells the epochal story of how the earth-centered cosmology of Ptolemy was replaced by the sun-centered cosmology of Copernicus and Kepler. The book is a classic. Kuhn understood how ideas influence each other and hang together in a system. He could write with equal erudition about observational astronomy, medieval theology, astrology, and Aristotelian physics.

Planetary service : a way into the third millennium 1 review Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy
Argo Books, 1978
Planetary Service This is a translation of the German book "Dienst auf dem Planeten." Modern technology is causing space to shrink and time to become shorter. This has raised the issue of changing borders in the increasingly acute forms of having some disappear while others are strengthened to offset the effects of the shrinking world. Borders cannot simply be dismissed, if only because they protect their ...
