A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (Oprah's Book Club, Selection 61)1076 reviews
Eckhart Tolle

Penguin, 2008

Review: A New Earth
This is by far the best book I have read on managing your mind and therefore your life. I read it twice to make sure I didn't miss anything, and I never read a book all the way through a second time. I bought copies for my college age daughters and they are now reading it. I know this is a very strong statement, but I believe it is the most important book published since the bible.

Alchemy of the Heart2 reviews
Michael Brown

Namaste Pub Inc, 2008

A Jewel Box
As a stand alone or a companion to Michael Brown's "The Presence Process," this book is a jewel box of precious gems. "The Presence Process" is as important a discovery as Genpo Roshi's Big Mind, and if Ken Wilber is the Einstein of consciousness, Michael Brown is the Einstein of emotional body awareness. "Alchemy of the Heart" provides substantial inner nutrition for anyone undertaking the ...

Theory U: Leading from the Future as it Emerges8 reviews
C. Otto Scharmer

SoL, the Society for Organizational Learning, 2007

This is an extraordinary work
I was at a conference where Otto spoke just a few weeks ago and hearing him speak about Theory U and seeing his passion for the field was inspiring. I would say that this was not a book that I read, I studied it. Presence was an extraordinary conversation and this work helped me understand the depth and the power of the U framework in creating our future drawn from insights from the future. ...

In the Presence of a Great Mystery (New World Lobrary Audio)8 reviews
Eckhart Tolle

New World Library, 2006

More Classic Eckhart
I followed Eckhart's every word for two years, and he taught me a lot, some directly and some indirectly. He's simply one of the most effective spiritual teachers on the planet, with the absolute best, most peaceful voice out there. If you're a seeker, seek here. If you're in pain, take these CDs and get some rest. If you're scared, use these to keep the Light on. Peace.

The Unfolding Now: Realizing Your True Nature through the Practice of Presence
A. H. Almaas

Shambhala, 2008

In his most accessible work to date, contemporary mystic A. H. Almaas shows readers how being present and aware in the moment leads to the discovery of our True Nature. This relaxed condition of simply “being yourself ” allows us to be free from worries, attachments, feelings of inadequacy, preoccupation with goals, and efforts to eliminate experiences we don’t want. As we begin to embrace the truth of the moment, we feel more ...

This Beautiful Mess: Practicing the Presence of the Kingdom of God17 reviews
Rick Mckinley

Multnomah Books, 2006

Eye Opening and Entertaining!
No wonder Donald Miller is such a great writer! He gets to listen to Rick Mckinley EVERY WEEK! This book was an awesome read. The first two sections were really good, but they were just the appetizers for the real meat of the book, the third section. I had to readjust my whole Christian way of thinking! Well, not really, but I did learn some great stuff. This book is well worth the small ...

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment876 reviews
Eckhart Tolle

New World Library, 2004

The Power of Now
How much of your day is actually spent completely focused in the here and now? When you are working, how often do you find your mind wandering? How much of your time is spent thinking about what you are going to do next weekend or wishing you'd handled a particular situation differently? The majority of us spend most of our life fixated on the past or worrying about the future. The present is ...

The Presence Process: A Healing Journey into Present Moment Awareness33 reviews
Michael Brown

Beaufort Books, 2005

Better than Oprah's Tolle!
This book is better than "The Power of Now" by Eckart Tolle, in that it gives you information on how to get where you want to go. I am surprised that more people have not found this book...it is excellent. This work comes highly recommended by a group of metaphysical people who are using the concepts in the book to create the life of their dreams...Excellent book, easy to read, and the author ...

The Practice of the Presence of God82 reviews
Brother Lawrence

Whitaker House, 1982

A must read
This little book is a must read for everyone trying to get closer to God. You don't have to commit a time for prayer, you can silently praise God throughout the day as you go about your work and in your quiet moments. The rewards far outweigh these simple efforts.

Lions Don't Need to Roar: Using the Leadership Power of Personal Presence to Stand Out, Fit in and Move Ahead12 reviews
D. A. Benton

Business Plus, 1993

How to fool most of the people most of the time
Deborah Benton has written a must-read book for all us cubicle dwellers who lack real credentials or talent but nevertheless want a quick, if flimsy, façade of competence and don't mind being a little sleazy about getting it. Here is Barnum's dream - a handbook for creating an artificial aura of respectability. Forget your lack of organization skills, inability to use written English, and that ...

The Allies of Humanity: An Urgent Message About the Extraterrestrial Presence in the World Today10 reviews
Marshall Vian Summers

New Knowledge Library, 2001

Unfortunately, it's probably true
Like some of the other reviewers, I was greatly disturbed by this book - mostly because in my inner core I feel that it is true. It makes entire sense - there are no contradictions between what is said in this book and my inner beliefs. It does not ask us to do anything contrary to our nature or bad for us. Indeed, it harkens us to be even more diligent on our spiritual paths. Actually, what ...

Practicing the Presence: The Inspirational Guide to Regaining Meaning and a Sense of Purpose in Your Life17 reviews
Joel S. Goldsmith

HarperOne, 1991

meaningful to experiencing spiritual consciousness
The heritage of my exploration of Goldsmith stems from Walter Starcke's book, "It's All God" and/or Tolle's book, "The Power of Now". Seeking contact with God is what all people are attempting to do. This book is one more in a series that places you in the emphasis of God's Realm spread out before us, touching the water and touching the wave, spiritually, metaphysically and within the context of ...

Presence: Human Purpose and the Field of the Future21 reviews
Peter M. Senge, C. Otto Scharmer, ...

Doubleday Business, 2008

"What is most systemic is most local"
I found this book impossible to read in one sitting. I would read through a few pages and have to either stop to contemplate or head online to research. What an informative guide to the importance of presence! There is motion towards the exterior of the Cave. Its path is not without twists and turns. But we are developing the skills to navigate. These skills are evident in the increasing ...

Practicing His Presence (The Library of Spiritual Classics, Volume 1)17 reviews
Brother Lawrence, Frank Laubach

Christian Books Pub House, 1988

A Must Read!
This book I believe is a must read by any Christian desiring to live an others centered self sacrificial broken life style before the Lord. This can only be acomplished by staying on our cross and allowing God to have all of us. Practicing His Presence will help us stay focussed on God through out our day. Learning from Frank Laubach and Brother Lawerence's experiences at trying to live this life ...

5 Steps To Professional Presence: How to Project Confidence, Competence, and Credibility at Work10 reviews
Susan Bixler, Lisa Scherrer Dugan

Adams Media, 2000

Great Book for Group Discussion
I am a partner in an accounting firm. We bought a copy of this book for every member of the firm and use it as a discussion aid. One morning each week our staff meets to discuss one chapter. The author has some unique insights and some just common sense concepts. Our staff appears to embrace the book as well. I recommend this for every serious business professional.

Invitation to Solitude and Silence: Experiencing God's Transforming Presence11 reviews

Great insights to time with God

This book will help you see the rewards for solitude with God in your life; the struggles that one can have when trying to find that solitude time and space.

The Beautiful Fight: Surrendering to the Transforming Presence of God Every Day of Your Life8 reviews
Gary L. Thomas

Zondervan, 2007

Beautiful Spirituality
This newest book from one of Evangelicalism's finest authors on spiritual formation, Gary Thomas, is excellent - one of the best books I've read this year. Thomas takes a fresh look at living a God-empowered life that is grounded in the doctrine of Christ's bodily ascension. Drawing on insights from Evangelical, Reformed, Orthodox, and Catholic traditions, Thomas shows how God's presence can ...
