The Truth Seeker (O'Malley #3)42 reviews
Dee Henderson

Multnomah Books, 2001

Kept my excitement going
She did it again. The third book in the O'Malley series was just as exciting as the rest. Dee Henderson gives a great, in depth look into the lives of real people. Her true to life professions and family stories make for great reads.

The Hell You Say (Adrien English)31 reviews
Josh Lanyon

MLR Press, 2007

5 stars
Review is of entire series! ************************************* It is 3:40am and here I am typing away on my laptop writing a review for a series I just finished reading. I should have packed it up and called it a night as the girls will no doubt be pestering me for breakfast bright and early, but the last book of the Adrien English series was so perfect, so sigh worthy that I absolutely ...

City of Fire21 reviews
Thomas Fitzsimmons

Forge Books, 2009

City was exciting
City of Fire was truly an interesting book. The characters were described well and the main plot was intertwined with the subplots so well. Because I live in NYC (not the Bronx) I was able visualize the South Bronx especially the abandoned buildings. The relationship between Beckett and Solana was good because it did not rush into anything heavy. I await the sequel now.

Dirty Martini (Jacqueline "Jack" Daniels Mysteries)33 reviews
J. A. Konrath

Hyperion, 2007

Awesome - Best one yet
Good Stuff: JA Konrath has done it again! Just an awesome novel with terrific suspense. This series is a great example of the police procedural/detective genre. Unlike many of these types of books, the mysteries are well-thought out, executed with precision, and the main detective doesn't magically jump to a conclusion that leads her to the bad guy. Also, unlike many in this genre, ...

Hunter's Way22 reviews
Gerri Hill

Bella Books, 2005

I didn't want it to end
This was my first Gerri Hill novel and i wasnt quite sure if I'd enjoy it even after reading the reviews, but I am definitely happy i decided to get it. I thought it was a very great read. I honestly had trouble putting it down to go to sleep or even work on time. I ended up reading it in just 2 days and was sad when it was over. I'll be reading many more of Gerri Hill's novels thanks to this ...

Inspector Morimoto and the Two Umbrellas: A Detective Story Set in Japan53 reviews
Timothy Hemion

iUniverse, Inc., 2004

Great book!
Inspector Morimoto is a detective who works in the Japanese city of Okayama, which is a medium sized city. He like to ride around on the city trams, and take slow train journeys through the countryside. And he likes to sit in his office with his feet on his desk drinking tea and staring out the window while he discusses problems with his helper - who is Police Officer Suzuki. And in one of the ...

The Devil in Music (Julian Kestrel Mystery)34 reviews
Kate Ross

Penguin (Non-Classics), 1998

Thank you, Kate Ross
Kate Ross left us far too early, but as the reviewer below stated, she did leave us with Julian Kestrel. And for that, we are grateful. What an amazing fourth book. Unlike the previous three in the series, this one does not take place in England, but in Italy. The ending was as surprising a twist as any twist I've read in recent memory. The plot is rich, the characters are colorful, the ...

A King of Infinite Space17 reviews
Tyler Dilts

AmazonEncore, 2010

Cop Fiction at it's Finest
I'm still slightly bitter for not having guessed the doer sooner, but then again I don't read detective novels on a regular basis. "A King of Infinite Space" is definitely a solid read from beginning to end. The characters were all realistically portrayed and easy to relate to. The plot was fairly straight forward cop drama complete with a unique MO and lengthy list of suspects. I think the ...

In Pursuit of Justice13 reviews
Radclyffe

Renaissance Alliance Publishin, 2003

Great writing, great characters
I really enjoy the way that Radclyffe writes - she has great characters and realistic plots. The books in the Justice series don't miss a day, one book picks up where the last one left off. Very quick read, keeps you interested - when you finish one book you want to start the next book to keep the story going.

Greatly Entertaining
I loved "The Will" by Arvin and grabbed "Blood of Angels" as soon as it was released in hardcover. It is a book to own and I will read again one day. Great suspense, character developement and plot. This book has it all. It's one of those you can't put down once you start it.

Black Seconds (An Inspector Sejer Mystery)15 reviews
Karin Fossum

Mariner Books, 2009

Karin Fossum's the name, five star mystery novels
are her game. Another masterpiece by a genius of a different order. She will push buttons you may not have known you had. No author in any literary genre has portrayed the mysteries of abnormal psychology with as much vividness and compassion. You know how you forget who did what to whom a few days after you put down that mystery you read a few days past? We Fossum fans can safely say that ...

Red Gold13 reviews
Dennis N. Griffin

Authorhouse, 2000

Another page turner for Griffin...
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Red Gold. I had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Griffin talk about his first book, The Morgue. As a result I bought and read the book. As you might imagine, by the time Red Gold became available, I was anticipating a very exciting book. I couldn't wait to read it! I was NOT disappointed. Griffin's ability to integrate action, dialogue and character into an ...

All on the Same Side13 reviews
James D. Keating

PublishAmerica, 2006

A man's story
Jims book starts out getting your interest right away, not like a lot of novels where a third of the book is given to a lot of prose, introducing you to the charecters etc, I have read those types and I still didn't know whos who 20 pages on. This book tells a story that most police whould believe. It kept me more interested because of the locations Jim used in the plot, any cop from in and ...

A Long December15 reviews
Donald Harstad

Rugged Land, 2003

Another great book from Harstad!
Donald Harstad writes an incredibly good police procedural. I'm not even a fan of the genre and yet I am hooked on this series! Carl Houseman, deputy sheriff and senior investigator for Nation County, Iowa, is called to the Heinman farm to investigate a dead body. The dead body, Rudy Cueva, worked at a local kosher meat packing plant in Battenberg and was shot at close range. Soon, another ...

The Lake of Darkness13 reviews
Ruth Rendell

Vintage, 2001

THROUGH A GLASS DARKLY...
Ruth Rendell is a fabulous British author who has churned out mystery after mystery filled with dark, demented twists. This is another tautly plotted, well crafted mystery with characters that, though seemingly normal, are just a tad off the beaten path. This book features Martin Urban, a staid and somewhat stuffy young man who would have felt at home in Victorian England. Martin wins a very ...

Fadeout13 reviews
Joseph Hansen

Henry Holt & Co (P), 1990

Shattering in its simplicity
I picked this up on the recommendation of an author I respect, and while I was expecting a good read, I wasn't expecting to be so utterly shattered. On its surface, it's just a straightforward mystery about a guy who may or may not be dead, and the insurance investigator who needs to find out for certain. But just like the brittle prose, there's much, much more to it than that. While I can ...
