spring is the right time to read this book
I just finished this book, and I learned so much. I am in the process of planting my garden, and will definitely do things differently because I read this book. It is a wonderful fictional read that sneaks in several valuable lessons about ecology and nature. I loved the characters and I wish they were my friends.

Perfect Read for a Weekend
By page 11 I was completely absorbed into the world of Zebulon Valley. Twelve Hours later I had finished the book! It reminds me a few books I read in the summer of 1996: The Joshua Tree by Robert Cabot and One Summer by James R. Osgood. If you enjoy Prodigal Summer I recommend these other books.

Amazing!
One of the best books I've ever listened to. The storyline is fantastic and Kingsolver reads with Southern accents and a powerfulness that only an author is capable of. I highly recommend it. It's long though - 13 disks - but this is because it is unabridged.
