Pratical examples of algorithm in action
Before reading this book, I actually did not know how to use the dynamic programming algorithm in practice. This books taught me in one page from "Sweet Packs" puzzle. The solution is so simple and elegance that I can still remember it almost a year later. I was surprised to see how an ordinary problem can be solved with an old algorithm from a different perspective. This book is unique. Unlike ...

Everything you need to know as a programmer
What a splendid book! I wish I had gone to CMU and take this course. This book is written by CMU professors after teaching Computer Systems course for few years. This book covers broad spectrum of topics from Operating Systems, Compilers, Computer Architecture, Assembly Level Programming, Kernel internals, Linkers, etc from a programmer's perspective (as the title aptly says). I am searching ...

A book I've been waiting for
Disclaimer: I was one of the technical reviewers for this book and I have known Neal for several years now as a fellow speaker on NFJS conference circuit. I have been waiting for this book since I saw my friend Neal Ford give a talk on being a Productive Programmer. Now, I have it in my hands. When I found out Neal was writing this book, I selfishly volunteered to be a reviewer--yes I wanted ...

Comprehensive coverage of the exam
I just passed the exam with 87% after reading this book. I spent two months reading the book and then two weeks some revision. When reading this book you keep discovering things that you know you should have known long before as a java programmer. The questions in the book tend to be harder than the actual exam, but they are helpful. I discovered a couple of minor errors from the book. But ...

Extremely Good Text
I've been using Access off and on since Windows 95 and Access 2. This is absolutely one of the best texts on VBA I have read. Examples are clear, and appropriate; and explainations are complete without being longer than the need to be. The coverage of Access 2007's new features appears to be right on the money.

Great resource for developers and architects!
This book is a definite must have for SharePoint solution architects and developers. What makes this particular book stand out is the real world experience that you'll find documented from SharePoint MVP's. It's been one of the most useful books in my book shelf. As a SharePoint consultant, it's very useful to know what methods leading SharePoint experts such as Andrew Connell and Jan Tielens ...

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
I found the book's concept intriguing. The ability to learn from 33 highly respected members of the programming community is invaluable. I've enjoyed my daily dose of Beautify Code... but one thing caught me by surprise: Not all samples are beautiful... well in my eyes not all samples/chapters are beautiful. I'll skip listing the ones I found beautiful, interesting, insightful and ...

SAS programmer can grow with this book
If you just want to casually gain some familiarity with SAS up to the level of Base Programming certification, then probably the Little SAS Book alone will be enough. (At least it worked for me.) That book is economically priced and is famous for being concise and clear. However, when you actually program in SAS or even prepare for the Advanced Programming certification, you will soon find ...

A Fork in the Road of my Career
Since I was young I wanted to be a programmer. I got my first development job only a few years ago, and have spent much of my free time reading blogs and the like. The problem with that was there were too many conflicting schools of thought on too many different methodologies and practices. I found this book only a few months ago, and poured through its pages. After finishing it, my ...

Excellent Reference Tool
Not much to say except that this book is an outstanding reference tool. Updated for v9 it has basically everything you need in a pocket reference. It doesn't try to be a book or a guide or anything else, it is simply a very dense, well written, concise and accurate reference for SAS programmers. There is extremely useful information here and I refer to it often. There are many 'gotchas' in SAS ...

For serious developers only -- but perfect for the right audience
This is exactly what I want from a technical book on a tricky, subtle topic: it is *serious* and does not kid around. If you're new to programming, XML, declarative languages, or regular expressions: this is not the book for you. If you're familar with all those things and want to put a new tool in your toolbelt, this is the book. It explains the semantics and the processing model thoroughly, ...

Great Book
I needed to know quickly how to implement a BI solution and ordered three books: Delivering Business Intelligence with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 by Brian Larsen, Applied Microsoft Analysis Services by Teo Lachev, and this book. Of the tree books, this is the only one I really needed. This book had everything I wanted to know about Analysis Services. I was also impressed with the knowledge and ...

Excellent, comprehensive coverage...
It still somewhat amazes me that Visual Basic has stood the test of time like it has. It keeps getting updates and facelifts, and continues to "play well" in today's environment. If you need a comprehensive guide to the language and the programming environment, I think you would be well-served by the book Visual Basic 2005 for Programmers (2nd Edition) by Paul J. some human errors, but priceless theory review!
I had read some of the reviews for this book and they focus on parts where almost all books have human errors, code or math examples, but the explaination of the theory is very well reviewed. This book is very well organized and explains very well the topics. This book is a very good book for begginers on games physics and math, its not a book for learning math, physics or programming, and by ...

I always find WROX books are the best value for money. This book is no exception. The details this book provides is atypical and that is what I find very useful. Devil is in the details and we need that for programming. If you are interested in Solutions Development on SharePoint Platform, this book is a very good companion.

Content Management in Depth
WCM (Web Content Management) is becoming a "hot" item in many MOSS deployments. I should also clarify that this book is focused on WCM as opposed to ECM (Enterprise Content Management), as this seems to be a confusing topic for some. So it is mainly for those looking for working with the publishing infrastructure within MOSS (replacing MCMS - Microsoft Content Management Server), not with the ...

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, particularly well-thought out design guidelines for developing J2EE application with or without EJB. The author introduced several best practices particularly the concepts and usage of Spring and Hibernate based j2ee development is quite helpful. In addition to this book, I find patterns and bestpractices from "Core J2EE Patterns /Deepak Alur", "Core ...
