Kaplan SAT II Writing 2002-2003 (Sat II. Writing (Kaplan))11 reviews
Kaplan

Kaplan, 2002

My score increased by 240 points in only 4 days
You don't believe me? A week before the real test, I took a Princeton Review practice SAT II Writing test and got a FANTASTIC 550. I even cried because I'm an "A" English student. With only 4 days left to fully dedicate myself to studying (I had to study for finals too), I feared my fate was sealed. Personally, I always buy Princeton Review books to study for standardized tests, but this time ...

The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Book of Desserts: Indescribably Delicious Desserts Made Easy with Precise ...17 reviews
Good Housekeeping, Mildred Ying

Hearst, 2001

Fantastic starting dessert book
I bought this book for the extremely helpful pictures! Not only do they show the final product, but they also show many of the individual steps. It's a great book for beginning chefs, and I think that on the whole, the recipes are OK and the presentation could use a little work, but I'm overall very pleased. The pages are thick and the paper is of high quality.

The Rocket Review Revolution: The Ultimate Guide to the New SAT (2006-2007 Edition) (Rocketreview Revolution: ...42 reviews
Adam Robinson

NAL Trade, 2006

IF YOU BUY ANY SAT BOOK--THIS IS THE ONE TO USE
I have tried everything--$1000 SAT prep classes (no help, they are only for students who have no idea what the SAT is), doing constant practice from the Official Study guide by College Board (kind of helped but there aren't any explanations for the answers!), funny vocabulary books to help memorize vocab, etc. None of those really worked. Until I stumbled upon RocketReview. Everything in ...

Sam Burchers, Max Burchers, ...

New Monic Books, 2000

Phenomenal classroom tool!
This book has been one of my most valuable resources in my classroom. Each of my students owns a copy, and through class activities that incorporate the vocabulary into various literature lessons, I have seen results. One student recently took the SATs for the second time and reported a 210-point increase in his verbal score--an increase that he ascribes to this book. I highly recommend this ...

Boot Camp for Your Brain: A No-Nonsense Guide to the SAT I103 reviews
M. Denmark Manning

Xlibris Corporation, 2001

A perfect companion to "The Official Guide to the SATs"
I have tried plenty of different programs to enhance my SAT scores - books, classes, you name it. Boot Camp was organized in a fashion that was easy to use, and more importantly, yielded desired results. The contents of the book are concepts that are on the actual SAT and don't waste your time. I (like any other high schooler) have little to no time to practice SATs, but the great thing about ...

Simon's Saga for the S.a.t. I Verbal10 reviews
P. Geer

Topeka Bindery, 2002

Highly Recommended For Students And Teachers
Obviously written by a talented educator who knows how to maximize students' potential, this book truly deserves five stars - it's original, educational, and very effective as an SAT vocabulary-building tool. The approach is unusual, to say the least. On one level it's a fun story, but on another level it's a hilarious spoof on some interesting topics such as boy-girl relationships, the arts, ...

My favorite book!
This is absolutely my favorite crewel book! Katherine Shaugnessy has taken crewel to a new level that works with the modern as well as the traditional home decor. Her instructions and diagrams are designed for the novice as well as the experienced embroiderer. She has so many new and different ideas and ways to use embroidery you won't know where to begin. Her fantastic use of color is the key ...

How to Ace the SAT Without Losing Your Cool8 reviews
Michele LoBosco, Ph.D., Jacqueline, J. LoBosco

MJ Publishing, 2007

Great Strategy Guide for the SAT's
Though experts claim one really cannot raise one's SAT score more than 10-30 points at best, this guide can do some other things that are not precisely fact-related. "How to ACE the SAT" provides strategies for answering questions, practices and writing guides. The key is in the subtitle "Without Losing Your Cool." Relaxation is probably the key to test-taking. I can attest to that! If I was ...

Increase Your Score in 3 Minutes a Day: SAT Essay10 reviews
Randall McCutcheon, James Schaffer

McGraw-Hill, 2004

Increase Your Score in 3 DAYS!
I, being a normal adolescent, tend to procrastinate. As the SAT was looming over me and steadily approaching in a week's time, I quickly searched for a quick and easy lifesaver and chose this book. 3 days before the big day, I scoured the contents and followed the tips. The result? A perfect score on the essay (which is odd considering I'm a terrible writer--thus I attribute my good grade to this ...

Teachers, this is a great vocabulary book!
I have used this book in my high school classroom to help students in preparation for the SAT exam. It offers a challenging selection of words and strong "SAT" types of questions in the form of tests and quizzes. There are sample sentences that demonstrate the uses of each word. It is a beneficial vocabulary supplement for any class.

Keller's Math SAT Game Plan: Your Strategy for Success (Nuts & Bolts)6 reviews
Philip Keller

Dna Press, 2004

Best of its kind I've ever worked with
As a college professor and long-time test-prep tutor, I've evaluated the gamut of test-prep resources. This is, hands-down, the best math SAT book I've seen: clear, articulate, and accessible without being condescending. I was so impressed that I researched (Googled) the author, and found out that he's won several teaching awards as a high school math and science teacher in New Jersey, which may ...

It really works
I found this book AMAZINGLY helpful. My parents got me a lot of SAT books, but this was the only one that really made a difference. The strategies sounded so simple, but when I really practiced them - they just worked. My reading score went up 150 points and my Math went up 110. SAT student in Florida

Acing the New SAT I Math6 reviews
Greenhall Publishing

Greenhall Publishing, 2004

Very good and comprehensive
This book is a very fine book to study in preparation for the New SAT I. I've studied MANY different SAT books as a student. This book offers problems that may be given on the SAT's that I have not seen in other books. There are all levels of difficulties also. There is no "fluffy" pages with wordy explanations. Its explanations and summaries of every topic is concise and understandable. A major ...

Critical Reading Workbook for the SAT (Critical Reading Workbook for the Sat)5 reviews
Sharon Weiner Green, Mitchel Weiner

Barron's Educational Series, 2006

It has everything it's supposed to: not too much nor too little
A very adequate Book! This book covers various types of questions for the Reading sectoin and the Writing section. It has lots and lots of practice for reading section but could have more for writing (the practice tests on the back can cover that). It breaks down the reading section into two sections for each type of questions: Sentence completion and Reading. It has all the information you ...

SAT II Writing Preparation Guide (Cliffs Test Prep)8 reviews
Allan Casson

Cliffs Notes, 1996

great practice book
I am extremely pleased with this book. Not only does it go from topic-to-topic explaining all the details, it also gives extensive practice in those particular areas. The organization is excellent, allowing you to go to any specific section that you need help on. The tests themselves are good, although not as scientific as the ones on the real SAT II Writing. Altogether, I am a very satisfied ...

Ace's English Vocabulary Exambusters Study Cards (Ace's Exambusters)5 reviews
Elizabeth R. Burchard

Ace Academics, 2008

Best way to improve your vocabulary!
I bought these cards to help improve my vocabulary when it comes to taking the SAT. So far, many of the words have shown up on the practice tests I took, and it has helped me improve my verbal score. I recommend using flash cards because it is the best way to see if you really know what a word means or not. Regular word lists have the definitions right next to the word, which doesn't help ...

Conquering the SAT: How Parents Can Help Teens Overcome the Pressure and Succeed5 reviews
Ned Johnson, Emily Warner Eskelsen

Palgrave Macmillan, 2006

Winning the SAT Game
With each passing year it seems that the college admissions game becomes exponentially more stressful. Getting into college is no longer enough. Only getting into the right college seems to matter for too many students, and perhaps more to the point, too many parents. And this pressure to get into the right college has led to compression so that good state universities that an above-average ...

Gary Gruber

Sourcebooks, Inc., 2008

Very useful guide with great features
I was thrilled to see the 2009 version of Gruber's Complete SAT Guide. I have used his books for decades with outstanding results with my students. His new additions to the 2009 version like the "Gruber Hot Prefixes and Roots" (which give you the meaning of over 110,000 words) is excellent and a great way to learn the important prefixes and roots of words. Also his "Words Commonly Mistaken for ...
