Definitely Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 6)137 reviews
Charlaine Harris

Ace Books, 2006

Love Charlaine Harris & Sookie Stackhouse
If you haven't picked up the Sookie Stackhouse series - do it now! :) These books are great - entertaining and smart, and they flow very easily from one to the next, leaving you wanting more. If you like these, you will love the Harper Connelly series, and I recently started the Aurora Teagarden and Lily Bard sets, and am enjoying those as well. I can't believe I just "found" Charlaine ...

Mirrorshades: The Cyberpunk Anthology13 reviews
Bruce Sterling

Ace Books, 1988

Best Collection For the Genre
This is simply a fantastic collection of the best stories of my favorite literary subgenre, the Cyberpunk Movement in the 1980s and early 1990s. While I may not like William Gibson and Bruce Sterling, I am not ignorant when it comes to their importance in popularizing and shaping the genre. Also here are Rudy Rucker, the acting grandfather of the genre; and Pat Cadigan, the Queen of Cyberpunk ...

Mattimeo: A Tale From Redwall213 reviews
Brian Jacques

Ace Books, 1999

EXCELLENT! 10/10!
This is either the best or the second best Redwall book. It's the direct sequel to the Original Redwall, so there will be a lot of familier characters. Complete with 3 huge battles, a cruel monster that lurks in the dark, and an evil slaver named Slager, this book is ultimate, and I highly reccomend it!

The Great Tree of Avalon: The Eternal Flame

The Great Tree of Avalon saga comes to an end as warlord Rhita Gawr, now a vengeful dragon bent on conquest, leads an army across the land-and the only thing that stands in his way is a trio of unlikely heroes.

Rolling Thunder14 reviews
John Varley

Ace Books, 2008

Refreshing
I'm addicted to Varley. His characters talk and act they way I would. It's refreshing. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next one.

Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 1)274 reviews
Charlaine Harris

Ace Books, 2001

Good Book
I am really enjoying this series. I get so wrapped up in Sookie's life as soon as I finish one book I pick up the other.

Dead as a Doornail (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 5)148 reviews
Charlaine Harris

Ace Books, 2005

Sookie Stackhouse rides again!
Charlaine Harris has created some of the most interesting characters you'll ever hope to meet in her Southern Vampire series starring Sookie Stackhouse and a supporting cast as varied as any you could imagine. I was hooked after the first one and eagerly await each installment. You'll laugh out loud on one page and cringe on the next. I recommend this series without hesitation. Entertaining & fun.

Living Dead in Dallas (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 2)124 reviews
Charlaine Harris

Ace Books, 2002

Delicious!
As always, reading about Sookie's adventures is a delight. She's a down to earth, southern girl with an unusual ability that makes her desirable to all supernatural creatures. Her relationship with Bill is still sweet to this point, with them having a minor obstacle and jealousy running supreme. My hormones speed up again with Eric's scenes, as his humorous flirting and determined seduction is my ...

Club Dead (Southern Vampire Mysteries, Book 3)131 reviews
Charlaine Harris

Ace Books, 2003

Cinful
Best book yet in the Southern Vampire series. Although I am dissapointed in Bill the vamire, you can not help but admire Sookie's strength and mental fortitude. Poor kid...it's amazing she's survived thorugh book III and hasn't let Eric or Bill bring her over. Already started Dead to the World and ordered all the books, I CAN'T wait to finish the series (although I will really miss these ...

God Emperor of Dune (Dune Chronicles, Book 4)150 reviews
Frank Herbert

Ace Books, 1987

The best book in the series
This is without a doubt the best book in the whole series, even better than the first. It is amazing to see the world that the God Emperor created and why he has created it in such a way. Its very hard to put down this book once you started reading it. This book could not have been better written.

Bone Dance: A Fantasy for Technophiles11 reviews
Emma Bull

Ace Books, 1991

Unbelievably Good
If life held any justice, Emma Bull would be at least as famous and as (presumably) wealthy as Neil Gaiman. Anyone who enjoys his writing will positively revel in hers. 'Bone Dance' first caught my eye as a library book almost ten years ago and it was with vast happiness I bought a used copy from Amazon last summer. And really, it's the PERFECT book to read around St. John's Eve. The ...

Thieves' World (Thieves' World #1)15 reviews
Robert Asprin

Ace Books, 1990

Liked the Thieves World series? Try the roleplaying game!
The darkly grim city of Sanctuary was an immediate hit with readers, and not surprisingly, gamers wanted to adapt the city to their fantasy game settings. The Thieves World roleplaying game (ISBN 093363501X) was released in 1981. Greg Stafford, et al at Chaosium, worked with with some of the brighter lights of the RPG industry (Dave Arneson, Steve Marsh, Midkemia Press, Marc Miller, Steve Perrin, ...

Ariel: A Book of the Change43 reviews
Steven Boyett

Ace Books, 1983

Boyett has announced a sequel to ARIEL!!!!
In a long interview in an online magazine called wildchildpublishing (I don't think Amazon will let me put up a link, so it's that name plus dot plus com), Boyett announced he is working on a sequel to ARIEL called ELOI. It takes place on the west coast 30 years after ARIEL. He says he hopes to have it finished by the end of the year (2005). It's been 20-something years!

Salamandastron: A Novel of Redwall136 reviews
Brian Jacques

Ace Books, 1994

Great!
At one time, this was my favorite redwall book. It was also the first redwall book I read all of. In this book, the fearless badger lord Urthstripe the Strong leads his army of long patrol hares in a battle against the cruel Ferahgo the Assasin. Read this book, it's great!

Bloodcircle (The Vampire Files, No 3)8 reviews
P. N. Elrod

Ace Books, 1998

Jack meets another vampire with a "day job"
The third novel in the series about Jack Fleming, PI and vampire. In this book in the series, Jack goes searching further for Maureen, and winds up meeting Jonathan Barrett, an almost-200-year-old vampire who has landed a cushy job as a private secretary to a recluse. There are several mysteries surrounding the recluse's family and neighbors. Barrett (who appears as the star in a separate Elrod ...

The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress229 reviews
Robert A. Heinlein

Ace Books, 1994

All Smiles
Heinlein is notorious for his lack of character development, so I wasn't expecting Dostoyevskyan psychologies explored in great detail. The pronounless Russian tinged English was incredible to read (though that's because I've lived in Brooklyn my whole life), though I see how it could be annoying for some. It's a boat for ideas and a great story. I devoured this book, and it has taken its ...

Guilty Pleasures (Anita Blake Vampire Hunter)433 reviews

Start at the Beginning
The first novel in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series. This is beautifully written novel, that grabs you from the first paragraph, and holds on tight.

Blue Moon (Anita Blake Vampire Hunter)258 reviews
Laurell K. Hamilton

Ace Books, 1998

Hottest in Series
Having read most of Ms. Hamilton's books, and finding them light and entertaining, Blue Moon surprized the heck out of me. It really delivered in the romance/erotica arena as well as delivering some pretty deep spiritual insights. I found myself intrigued not only with the story (which I couldn't put down - even reading at stop signs and red lights) (I know - shame on me) but with the authoress ...

The Past Through Tomorrow11 reviews
Robert A. Heinlein

Ace Books, 1987

Future History In Order
This is a fantastic collection. To begin with, almost the entire contents of the two collections ("The Green Hills of Earth" and "The Man Who Sold the Moon") are here ("Let There Be Light" is not included). Next there is "Searchlight" a short vignette which Heinlein wrote as part of an advertisement for Hoffman Electronics. In addition there is "The Menace From Earth", "If This Goes On-", ...
