Design Patterns CD: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software (Professional Computing) 249 reviews Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, ...
Addison Wesley Longman, 1998
THE design patterns book This book is a classic and doesn't require any further presentations. It is THE Design Patterns bible and every OO programmer should read at least a couple of times.
The samples are in C++ and sometimes Smalltalk but that really doesn't change anything even if you are a Java or C# guy.
If you are looking for a quick way into patterns I'd recommend Head First: Design Patterns as your 1st ...

Wanna understand human body functions? Great book to read for better understanding of human body functions. There are good and colorful illustrations in it. Through the guided illustrations and simplified physiological explanations, it makes easier to connect the function of one part of the body to the other.
Well I made good grade on my exam in anatomy and physiology anyhow ... so I can say that this book helped me a lot.

Side by Side 27 reviews Steven Molinsky
Addison Wesley Longman, 2001
I love "Side by Side" I was from China and started my life in the USA as a graduate student in Engineering. Although I took the TOEFL before I came to USA, my English is not good enough to express myself clearly and accurately. I decided to improve my English about 4 months ago and started to borrow some ESL books from local libraries.
About 2 weeks ago, I found four "Side by Side" books (Book 1 to Book 4) from a ...

Native Son 183 reviews Richard Wright, Wright
Addison Wesley Longman, 1997
Unnerving As many reviews document, some readers like this book while other dislike it. The reality of the situation may not be whether one likes the book so much as whether the book has the ability to disturb you. It is tough to like the main character. Yet most will have trouble identifying with the rich class that manipulates the system and Bigger's life. The story may be best described as ...

Biology 4e with the Interactive Study Guide CD ROM Package 104 reviews Neil A. Campbell
Addison Wesley Longman, 1998
This is the book other biology texts want to be when they grow up Hands down, Campbell's Biology is the most beautifully written and illustrated biology textbook on the market and has remained so through many, many editions. I am a plant biologist and was pleased to see that even at the introductory level, this book gave plant life equal prominence with animal biology. If you want to fall in love with biology, this is the text to get you there. Campbell and ...

Great textbook and a useful reference. I needed this book for a class and I usually trade them in or sell them at the end of the semester. I'm going to keep this one and add it to my personal library.
The chapters can be long, but they are all filled with good information and very useful examples. Most of my Professor's lectures were taken directly from the contents of this book. The book also references well and lesser known ...

The Feynman Lectures on Physics 93 reviews Richard Phillips Feynman
Addison Wesley Longman, 1970
For the love of physics ... Here's the deal. If ya wanna do this whole physics thing vanilla-style, go buy and read a nice physics textbook. If you want to taste physics - really take it in, like a delicious chocolate mousse or a symphony orchestra or Shakespeare done by British folk, this is where you have to be. If you have the resources, the best way to really dive in is to listen to the actual lectures and use these ...
