From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler 302 reviews E.L. Konigsburg
Aladdin, 1998
a childhood favorite I love this book. I saw it one day in the bookstore with my 7 year old who is a good reader. I bought it for her as a gift and re-read it first. I enjoyed it again as an adult and she has enjoyed it too. A good read with enough excitement and mystery to keep you turning the pages (but nothing scary).

The Homework Machine 9 reviews Dan Gutman
Aladdin, 2007
I Wish I Had That Machine!!!!!!!!!! The Homework Machine is about 4 kids who sit next to each other at Grand Canyon Middle School. Their names are Brenton Damagatchi, Kelsey Donnelly, Sam Dawkins, and Judy Douglas. Do you notice that their last names all start with D? Well that is why they are called the D Squad by their class. Brenton is a genius, Kelsey is a average girl, Sam is the average bully , and Judy is Brenton's friend. ...

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom 175 reviews Bill Martin Jr., John Archambault
Aladdin, 2000
BEST ABC Book By Far I love the fun rhythmic way this book can be read. It was very well thought out and goes over each alphabet twice in a manner that would rivet a child's attention to the story. This ABC book would be quite difficult to top. I remember this book from my own childhood.

Animals Should Definitely Not Wear Clothing 13 reviews Judi Barrett
Aladdin, 1988
Animals Should Definitely Not Wear Clothing This book is great!!!! Small children love it. There are the best illustrations of animals in trouble wearing clothes. My grandson especially loved the hen with an egg stuck in it's pants because we have a small flock of chickens. This book is a good laugh for little ones and one I'm asked to read again and again.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 165 reviews Judi Barrett
Aladdin, 1982
Loved it Then and Now This book is my proclaimed favorite book of all my childhood. I read this book so much that I had to buy a replacement for it when I was 18 because the original was falling apart. I cannot wait for the birth of my daughter so I can read to her about the silly story of a town that receives its food from the sky until the weather makes a turn for the worse. The pictures still crack me up, and the ...

Fablehaven 75 reviews Brandon Mull
Aladdin, 2007
Loved It!! I read this book and then passed it on to my 13 year old nephew whom I have relentlessly tried to introduce to books, even with bribes. This is the first book he has completed. He talked about the character as if they were people he knew. He sneaked to read at midnight, and on his way to school in the mornings. He is asking for more books like this. I look forward to the second installment that ...

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh (Aladdin Fantasy) 314 reviews Robert C. O'Brien

Rats that Outsmart People "Super Intelligent Rats Escape NIMH Laboratory" could have been the news bulletin. Should they ever leave evidence about of their intelligent behavior, the laboratory is sure to hear of it.

my son insisted we read it five times in a row I bought this book for my son's fourth birthday. We sat down to read it at bedtime, and he was completely riveted. When we finished, he said "read it again, Mommy." We went through this four more times, then I had to promise we'd read it again the next day in order to get him to go to sleep.
The story is gripping, and the artwork is amazing. Switching between color and black/white for ...

Aladdin, 1998
A story to warm the heart of very child with a curious and rebellious streak This book should be a classic, it demonstrates how a child can rebel against his teachers and yet do it in a positive way. Nick Allen is a bit of a troublemaker in school; he has many "good" ideas and is always trying them out. He reaches fifth grade, and the only language arts teacher is the elderly Mrs. Granger. When one of his ideas goes astray, Nick is required to develop a presentation to ...

The Relatives Came 32 reviews Cynthia Rylant
Aladdin, 1993
Delightful Story I love this book, especially for kids with big families. As an adult from a big family it is equally fun to read. This account of the journey and the visit at the relatives' house is written from a refreshingly honest child's point of view. A completely delightful read-to book. I bought a copy for all my kids with children.
