If You Want to Find Golden 3 reviews Eileen Spinelli
Albert Whitman & Co, 1993
If you want to find golden My three year old son loves this book. He has mastered the basic colors and this book gives him an opportunity to expand his knowledge with colors like copper and golden. The illustrations are great, with lots to see and talk about on every page. The text is rythmic and lyrical, although I would omit the line that reads (no litterbug, you). I am extremely disappointed that this book is ...

How Can a Frozen Detective Stay Hot on the Trail 4 reviews Linda Bailey
Albert Whitman & Co, 1996
I met her. I recently went to writer's camp. Every day an author came. One of the authors was Linda Bailey. She talked about her books. I read "How come the best clues are always in the garbage?"and it was absolutely incredible. Who can write about dumpsters, robberies, mail slots, chicken body parts and make it funny? Linda Bailey can?

Poems of passion 5 reviews Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Albert Whitman & Co, 1911
Phenomenal. This book is one of the best I have read. For a woman to write these words over 100 years ago and still have the same meaning today is amazing. It shows that some things never really change.

You Go Away (Self-Starter Books) 4 reviews Dorothy Corey, Lois Axeman
Albert Whitman & Co, 1976
Add this to the International Adoption list! I loved this book! It was very simple but straight-forward. We began reading it to our son when he was 2.5 years old, in preparation of our 2nd adoption (when we'd leave him for about a week to travel to Europe to bring home our next child). We'd personalize it by saying when Mommy and Daddy go away, we come back -- when you go to Aunt Jill's, you come back. Highly recommended!

The Little Old Man Who Could Not Read 9 reviews Irma Simonton Black
Albert Whitman & Co, 1968
This was one of my favorite books of all time I remember reading this book as a kid and loving it! Now I've got kids of my own starting to read, and I want to pick it up for them. This is probably one of a handful of children's books I would ever consider paying a collector's price for because it is just so fun in the way it teaches kids the importance of learning to read. All kids go shopping with their parents and can understand how ...

My Mom Can't Read 3 reviews Muriel Stanek
Albert Whitman & Co, 1986
it was a nice book I remember reading this from the library one summer when I was a kid and enjoying the book though I felt bad for the mother. It's nice that a sensitive issue was tackled in a good way, from a kid's point of view.

Flicka, Ricka, Dicka and the Strawberries 2 reviews M. Lindman
Albert Whitman & Co, 1944
Flicka Ricka and Dicka Learn About Those Less Fortunate Possibly the best children's story I have ever seen about charity. Flicka, Ricka and Dicka's mother is ready for canning, but does not know what fruit to use. The girls decide they should pick strawberries. Their mother tells them it is a good idea and will pay them for each basket they fill. The girls go out the next morning but the quest for strawberries takes them far from home. Tired and ...

Wkid: Easy Radio Plays 3 reviews Yuri Rasovsky, Ann Iosa
Albert Whitman & Co, 1991
Radio plays that kids and teachers love Classroom teachers who cringe at the thought of costumes and make-up and memorizing lines for elementary students will love practicing and performing these radio dramas. The stories are fun and suited for intermediate elementary students from 4th to 8th grade. The book gives valuable information on sound effects and how to tape the production for the best results. My classroom had a blast ...

Flicka, Ricka, Dicka and the Big Red Hen 2 reviews M. Lindman
Albert Whitman & Co, 1960
Great story for children of all ages As a young child this story was read to me several times. Now as an adult I find this story to be just as good. As an expectant parent I belive that I will be reading Maj Lindman's writings to my children on a regular basis. The children Flicka, Ricka, and Dicka are very helpful children in all of the books. In this particular book they help Aunt Lotta. She longs to go visit her sister but can ...

Poppy and the Outdoors Cat 2 reviews Dorothy Haas, Margot Apple
Albert Whitman & Co, 1981
I loved this book I read this over and over again when I was 9 & had the chickenpox. I never tired of this story. I was the oldest of many kids & could identify with Poppy's annoyance with younger siblings...
I loved the tale of Poppy & her outdoors cat, Rosebud.
I am sort of annoyed that it is OOP... I'd love to be able to read this to my daughters, who are also cat lovers.

Albert Whitman & Co, 2000
Character building I love all the Snipp, Snapp, and Snurr books. This one teaches a valuable lesson on the rewards of giving. My oldest child really learned to read with these books and will still sit down to read them to the younger ones because they are so encouraging. Time spent reading these books is time well-spent

Lies 2 reviews
Albert Whitman & Co, 1991
Lies (People Believe) About Animals There are 11 major reviews of animals, and over 20 minor reviews. In each of these reviews I found at least one thing that I believed about the animal that was not true. Usually these are major believes which are wrong. I found the writing style very easy to read and understand. The photographs were very good and very unusual. And the layout of the book was very pleasing to look at and ...

Sybil Rides for Independence 2 reviews Drollene P. Brown
Albert Whitman & Co, 1985
Appealing for young and old. A must read for all girls The book is an accounting of one young girl's brave ride for freedom during the American Revolution. Sybil Luddington is a true life heroine. The story is easy for young people to understand and demonstrates the role women (girls) played in our country's history. As a native of Connecticut, it was fun to read and share with my daughter a story about the important role a young girl played ...

Lemonade Parade 2 reviews Ben Brooks

Rib-tickling read-aloud for first and second graders As reading specialist at elementary schools, I search out books which will entice young children to become lifelong book lovers. A read-aloud book, Ben Brooks' Lemonade Parade is one read-aloud which fits the bill. A familiar situation (a not-so-busy lemonade stand), just enough repetition to give the text rhythm, a light-hearted mystery (Just why do all those customers wear the same familiar ...

Do Cowboys Ride Bikes? 2 reviews Kathy Tucker
Albert Whitman & Co, 1997
Just perfect for the little cowpoke in your life! I just read this book to my son at bedtime tonight and had to come make sure there were some good reviews out there. Since I found no reviews, I will just have to write one myself because people should know just how cute this book is. Each page spread asks a question about the life of a cowboy and the answer is written in a short, silly poem with pictures that correspond. Nothing the least bit ...
