Please ignore Mr. Fielder's review. In fact, it should be thrown out. The book is about the MOUNTAINS of Maine. Acadia only has big hills. I've used this book extensively and it is nearly as good as the White Mountain Guide by AMC. Highly recommended, especially for Baxter.

A Must Read for Anyone venturing into The Presidentials
I read this book since I was planning on section hiking the Appalachian trail through The Presidentials. It talks about how close to 150 people have met their untimely end in these mountains over the last 150 years. Great book. I've already done a few of the hikes from it. The hikes are rated in difficulty, so you know what you're getting into. The details on Shelters, campsites, water... are perfect. Directions to trailheads and parking are complete and accurate. All you need in addition to this book is an actual map of the area. I was expecting something akin to the Appalachian Trail maps--a thick, slick, waterproof, sweat-proof, rip-proof, practically bombproof paper/plastic amalgamation.
