Absolutely fascinating
This is the first Tanenbaum book I have read, and halfway through found myself wishing that the author had written a series with the same main characters. To my delight, I discovered that there are 14 books in the Karp/Cianni series, and tonight I ordered the first 5 - I am looking forward to reading all of them! What fun to discover a "new" author!

The Afterlife Experiments97 reviews

Atria Books, 2004

Scientific Evidence of our Life after Death
What is valuable about this book is that two very skeptical scientists decided to try to prove that there is an after life and that souls on the other side can communicate with us here and now if we listen. As a practical engineer who only gets paid if what I design works, I was impressed with the design of the experiments (that proved for me that people like John Edward are the real deal) ...

I laughed, I cried....
This is the first book written by Zane that I've ever read and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story was very well written and I couldn't put the book down as I was so anxious to read about the next interaction that Rayne and Yardley would have with one another. It was a very beautiful story with a rather unexpected ending, but that's life.

ACT OF TREASON (MITCH RAPP, NO 7)1 review
VINCE FLYNN

Atria Books, 2006

Act of Treason
Fiction: I purchased it thinking the book club I am with was planning on having it. Then it switched to Term Limits, so I did also. What three chapters I read, I found very similar to Term Limits and many of the same characters from Term Limits, published in 1996, were still there in 2004 or had just died. The Terrorist appeared to be much bloodier than the SEAL officer was which is not my ...

Across a Hundred Mountains6 reviews

Atria Books, 2006

Excellent book
This was an excellent book, full of unsparing detail and sharp images. The two stories coincide and cross in a surprisingly possible way, with haunting twists and turns. After just reading Enrique's Journey, the crossing to El Otro Lado in this book reiterated the inhumanity of the border situation for me. A riveting book. Highly recommended.

All I Could Bare: My Life in the Strip Clubs of Gay Washington, D.C.

Atria Books, 2008

A FRANK, FUNNY, EXPLICIT, AND INSPIRING MEMOIR ABOUT HOW DANCING NAKED IN GAY CLUBS IN THE NATION'S CAPITAL HELPED A COLLEGE PROFESSOR DISCOVER HIS TRUE SELF.I felt that I'd made a transformation as surely as Superman slipping out of a phone booth or Wonder Woman doing a sunburst spin. I was bare-ass in a room of paying strangers, a stripper. After years of wondering what it would be like, I had done it -- faced a fear, defied expectation, ...

Amy's Answering Machine20 reviews

Atria Books, 2004

True to Life
This book is funny. Amy's mom is like a lot of our moms, regardless of our background. As I read the book, I could picture my mom saying the same things...and me having the same thoughts Amy does. Great book -- quick read (only an hour or two with interruptions) and extremely entertaining! :-)

and the shadows took him8 reviews

Atria Books, 2005

A truly fulfilling novel
I read a lot of novels. Many are good reads. Some, of course, are really bad, even horrible. I'm sure you readers know this, too. Then there are truly fulfilling novels like "and the shadows took him," by Daniel Chacon. This novel is not only a great story, but written extremely well. Chacon is a master at his craft. You, readers, will not be disappointed. If you are like me, the title, ...
