1, 2 Timothy, Titus (New American Commentary) 1 review Thomas D. Lea, Hayne P. Griffin
B&H Publishing Group, 1992
An Excellant Commentary on 1, 2 Timothy, So So for Titus This commentary contains the works of two authors and unfortunately must receive two reviews. The book itself is one of an on-going series. I did a lot of research before I settled on this series to steadily add to my library. I find that it has enough information to satisfy the more serious of students, yet is clear enough that the casual reader can get to the areas that interest them. Thomas ...

1, 2, 3 John (New American Commentary) 1 review Daniel L. Akin
B&H Publishing Group, 2001
Indispensable for a Soul Understanding of John's Epistles Used as a primary text in a recent 400-level 'General Epistles' class, this commentary proved to be a well-organized and well-considered take on John's letters. Not only is it an invaluable asset to the college student in gaining a sound understanding of the intent of the author (as well as the Author), but it ties together the foundational concepts of God as Love and Light in the lives of each ...

1, 2 Samuel: The New American Commentary 7 reviews Robert D. Bergen
B&H Publishing Group, 1996
The most exciting commentary for 1,2 Samuel This commentary is a beautiful and interesting verse by verse exposition of 1 and 2 Samuel. Bergen's insights into the text are greater by far than anyone else I have read. Furthermore, he links the text to other parts of the canon of scripture that express similar or contrasting ideas. As an example, I like how he pointed out in 1 Samuel chapter one that Hannah took her barrenness to the Lord in ...

1, 2 Peter and Jude (Shepherd's Notes) 1 review
B&H Publishing Group, 1998
Bible Study help that is both scholarly and practical. I have found that the Shepherd's Notes are both scholarly and practical for everday use. They have been a great help in preparing for sermons when used alongside my Bible. The margin notes give you an extra amount of information beyond what the paragraph reads. This is worth the $5.95 I paid for the commentary and I am looking forward to building a library of these.

131 Christians Everyone Should Know (Holman Reference) 6 reviews
B&H Publishing Group, 2000
A wonderful resource for Christians of any stripe... The approach of this book is extremely simple, yet the product is absolutely fantastic. The editors of Christian History magazine (an outstanding periodical that I would recommend to anyone) have compiled a list of 131 key leaders in the history of Christianity, starting with Ignatius of Antioch and ending with Billy Graham. These key church figures are organized by category (Theologians, ...

The 2-degree Difference: How Little Things Can Change Everything 2 reviews John Trent
B&H Publishing Group, 2006
Maybe this will be the time :) Mr. Trent's message isn't new, but I like the idea of basically 'baby steps' to get some change going. He makes reference to some other leadership type books that I want to now read, like Guilani's "Leadership". I like that he made it story like with examples... following Jesus' lead in getting points across :) Definately worth the read, and easy reading too :)

2 Corinthians (New American Commentary) 3 reviews David E. Garland
B&H Publishing Group, 1999
A Great Series This Series has been consistenly good. I usually do not recommend that a person buy a commentary set. Most sets have good volumes and not so good volumes. This series I would recommend. It is scholarly enoungh for a seminary student, yet readble enough for a layman or a pastor lacking a degree. This commentary offers a wealth of exegetical information. This is not a "preaching" and there fore ...

The 12 Essentials of Godly Success: Biblical Steps to a Life Well Lived 4 reviews Tommy Nelson
B&H Publishing Group, 2005
Lessons to make your soul say "Yes". This book has it right. I've known many good teachers who helped me in my pursuit of happiness, some of which are my own wondrous family. I have learned there is a powerful truth behind the instruction to love God and to treat others as I wish to be treated (thanks, Dad). But I have struggled with finding just how to apply that simple instruction in everyday life in a way that satisfies my heart ...

The 12 Essential Skills for Great Preaching 9 reviews Wayne McDill
B&H Publishing Group, 1998
The Best Sermon tool I have ever seen McDill has captured the essence of expository Preaching. No other preaching method I have studied is as God honoring and powerful. It teaches you how to preach God's Word and not your own or anyone elses. At the same time it helps you to use your own life experiences to illustrate the points you pull directly out of God's Word. It takes the best of Inductive study methods and couples them ...
