What a read!!!!
This novel is plotted well and moves quickly. I do that after great reads. No reader can ask for anything more. I closed the book slowly, running my hands all over it, before I held it tightly to my heart for a few moments. It's a great read and it was imposible to put down. what a book! I have just now read the final words. If you are realy interested on these titles, you can't miss these ...

Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet220 reviews
Jamie Ford

Ballantine Books, 2009

An Extraordinary Book !!!
This wonderful book covers many genres. It is a period piece of WWII and the late 80s. It is about teenage angst. It is about parent/child relationships throughout the stages of life. It is about culture clash. Above all, it is about love. I did not want the book to end and consider it a perfect gift now.

Staying True33 reviews
Jenny Sanford

Ballantine Books, 2010

I thought this was pretty good
I thought this was a very well-written, fair account of what happened between Jenny and Mark Sanford. Jenny doesn't seem to be out to get revenge as so many people are claiming. In fact, in the first half of the book she spends a great deal of time reflecting on the happy times in her marriage and talking about the GOOD things her husband did. She is telling the story as it happened and how it ...

L.A. Requiem (Elvis Cole Novels)195 reviews
Robert Crais

Ballantine Books, 2000

Love This Series!
I'm really enjoying the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike novels. This is the best one I've read todate. I've read all the other novels by Mr Crais that doesn't feature Elvis and Joe, so I decided to give this series a try and I'm glad I did. I've enjoyed them all. "Demolition Angel" was my first Crais novel and I've been a fan every since. He's definitely on my list of favorite authors.

The Last Detective122 reviews
Robert Crais

Ballantine Books, 2004

Great installment in the Cole series
Having read the books before and after this, I'm writing my review from that perspective. But reading to book at the time, I really enjoyed it just as it was -- not knowing what would come later. This book focused on Elvis Cole but really brought in more of his partner, Joe Pike (my personal favorite). Elvis is in love. He's watching his lover's son, Ben, when the boy is kidnapped. Naturally, ...

Evidence: An Alex Delaware Novel42 reviews
Jonathan Kellerman

Ballantine Books, 2010

Alex has completely faded away
Over the past several novels, Kellerman has made a few improvements: he no longer describes the routes that Alex and Milo are driving in excruciating detail, as if he were a GPS; Milo was not in this book described as "washing his face without water," a behavior description that read like it had been cut-and-pasted from earlier books; and there's less focus on that cipher snore-fest Robin, she of ...

Now Eat This!: 150 of America's Favorite Comfort Foods, All Under 350 Calories2 reviews
Rocco DiSpirito

Ballantine Books, 2010

Good & Healthy Recipes
I just spent about an hour reviewing Now Eat This! 150 of America's Favorite Comfort Foods, All Under 350 Calories, by celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito. As a former chef and avid cook, my passion is cooking healthy and delicious meals. So, it was with interest that I read this book, as I wanted to see how Rocco brought flavor--not calories--to America's favorite comfort foods. The trick to ...

The Lady in the Tower: The Fall of Anne Boleyn51 reviews
Alison Weir

Ballantine Books, 2010

The Last Days of Anne Boleyn.
Alison Weir paints an excellent picture of the last days of the Doomed Queen Anne Boleyn that dispels many of the suppositions we've been exposed to over the years by such things as 'Anne of the 1000 days' and 'The Tudors'. It appears she may have not been killed by Henry VIII on trumped charges of adultery but was the victim of a plot by Thomas Cromwell with support from the Catholics loyal to ...

Loving Frank: A Novel331 reviews
Nancy Horan

Ballantine Books, 2008

Brilliant writing; a truly tragic ending.
I live in NY and have been to the Guggenheim Museum several times. I knew it was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and knew a little about him, mostly about his organic approach to architecture. This book is the story of Wright's love affair with Mameh Borthwick Cheney, an affair that had tragic consequences. In 1903 Frank Lloyd Wright was hired to design and build a house for Edwin and Mameh ...

Mindset: The New Psychology of Success83 reviews
Carol Dweck

Ballantine Books, 2007

Great book for parents and teachers
This is one of the most helpful books that I have ever read. As a high school math teacher, I have found a bunch of ways to implement the ideas presented in this book. The words that we use are powerful and really make a difference in the lives of those we interact with. If you want to change the lives of teens and others around you, read this book. I bought 10 of them and gave them away ...

Between Sisters: A Novel45 reviews
Kristin Hannah

Ballantine Books, 2009

Between Sisters
I loved this book. Had a hard time putting it down and getting my chores done for the day. The sisters were so different yet so alike. I love how she writes about the Pacific Northwest with such detail. I passed this one to my sister.

Extremly great.
I closed the book slowly, running my hands all over it, before I held it tightly to my heart for a few moments. I do that after great reads. One of the best Detective titles I`ve red. Oh, man, man, MAN.... what a book! I have just now read the final words. Along similar titles I also recomend these books: The Mysterious Affair at Styles The Secret Adversary: A Tommy and Tuppence Mystery!

The Paris Vendetta: A Novel46 reviews
Steve Berry

Ballantine Books, 2009

The hunt is on
Treasure hunts have been a popular literary theme at least since Treasure Island (Puffin Classics) first published in 1883. Merging the hunt with the elements of what are loosely called international thrillers is nothing new-Clive Cussler has been doing it for years and so has Dan Brown of late. Both of the aforementioned authors suffer from predictable plots and in the case of Brown, a strange ...

Delivered from Distraction: Getting the Most out of Life with Attention Deficit Disorder93 reviews
Edward M. Hallowell M.D., John J. Ratey M.D.

Ballantine Books, 2005

Must read if you know an ADDer or weren't diagnosed as child
I was never diagnosed with ADD/ADHD as a child. I was a girl and I didn't climb the walls like my two brothers. I have a very high IQ and worked incredibly hard to cover. I was often called names like those in the stories in this book. Recently, my husband and I (both ADD) decided to have our daughter tested. We looked into all the research on girls with ADD and the more I read about the "impulse ...

The Mediterranean Prescription: Meal Plans and Recipes to Help You Stay Slim and Healthy for the Rest of Your ...46 reviews

Ballantine Books, 2006

This book has it all.
I read this book looking for ways to keep me healthy. This is an excellent book. The doctor, Angelo Aquista, does a wonderful job of explaining his way of eating. He goes into detail of how Americans eat too much fat and not enough vegetables and fish. He gives mention of the Island of Crete, where the people have low cholesterol and less heart attacks. The best part are the recipes. The salad ...

The Things We Do for Love: A Novel50 reviews
Kristin Hannah

Ballantine Books, 2010

Tender Love Story
What a beautiful story of love, loss and acceptance. This story personifies the age-old cry of injustice regarding people who want children and aren't able to have them, versus those that have them but don't want them or aren't able to take care of them. In a heartbreaking but spellbinding manner, Ms. Hannah expertly exposes the raw and ragged relationship between the young Lauren, with nothing ...
