Emotional Blackmail68 reviews
Susan Forward, Donna Frazier

Bantam Books Ltd, 1998

For those in need, I highly recommend this book!
I myself am currently in the FOG that she describes in this and it has hit home very well and helping me redeem myself. She's VERY good at explaining and assisting. Sometimes I feel she's right there. Very informative about the different types of emotional blackmailers. I'm not done reading, but have gotten 3/4 of the way and I am so happy I bought this book. It caught my eye one day browsing ...

Without Fail82 reviews
Lee Child

Bantam Books Ltd, 2003

How do you keep the most powerful people in the world alive?
How do you keep the most powerful people in the world alive? Not only is this a daunting task, it may be impossible. Lee Child's WITHOUT FAIL takes character Jack Reacher to his most challenging task yet - keeping the vice president alive. However, in true Jack Reacher fashion, this isn't about protection, it's about offense--find the killers before they are successful. Child does a masterful ...

Sunshine307 reviews
Robin McKinley

Bantam Books Ltd, 2004

To love this book is to love being enveloped in a story
This book is Robin McKinley's emotional masterpiece. What other reviewers seem to fail to acknowledge is that in reading this book, if you have ever been able to identify the times in your life you pulled the covers over you head after the alarm went off and those feelings associated with being human and being stubborn, then you can identify with Sunshine. We all prefer to read books that read ...

Message in a Bottle874 reviews
Nicholas Sparks

Bantam Books Ltd, 1999

AGONY
(Contains spoilers) I sobbed with this book, enough to actually throw it across the bed. I felt her pain in the end, and it was all so terrible wrong. I hate the ending with a passion. To hell with the dramatic effect his death brought on... I'd rather be stuck in my tiny bubble of unrealistic fantasies than read that ending thoroughly. It was just a punch in the chest when I read the last ...

The Notebook1485 reviews
Nicholas Sparks

Bantam Books Ltd, 2004

descriptive and lively settings
Sparks does an OUTSTANDING job with describing the settings of this story.....one can "vividly see" the places throughout the story.....i found myself reading this book slower than i usually do because it was just so much better for my imagination....i wanted to make sure i "soaked" in the environment.....GREAT job Sparks! Thanks for such a beautiful story.

Killing Floor179 reviews
Lee Child

Bantam Books Ltd, 2001

Reacher at his best
Lee Child`s creation is brilliant for a series of books, the transient Jack Reacher finds himself in tiny Margrave, Georgia, and is almost immediately arrested, if briefly, as a murder suspect. Imagine his surprise when he discovers that one of the victims is his brother, a brilliant U.S. Treasury agent. Reacher himself is no slouch; a former military policeman, he can dispatch villains with an ...

Lee Child

Another Reacher classic
Lee Child has taken reacher into another situation not of his own making. H estumbles into a kidnap by accident. Princess301 reviews
Jean Sasson

Bantam Books Ltd, 2004

God bless you, Jean P. Sasson.
I read this book without regard to ethnicity or political belief. I read it as a woman -- as a human being who suffered at the thought of what other women are enduring in the name of "religion" or "culture." There is no explanation possible to make this palatable to anyone with a conscience. To let it pass without mention is an abomination, akin to denying the Holocaust. There is no ...

Devil in the White City, The755 reviews
Erik Larson

Bantam Books Ltd, 2004

Very entertaing!
Not too many people these days have heard of the infamous Doctor HH Holmes or the Columbian Exposition. Both were major news stories over a hundred years ago, but now are forgotten. This book aims to change that, and it does so admirably. You get a real feeling of what life was like in Chicago and, indeed, much of America in the Guilded Age. You also see that serial killers like John Wayne ...

Under the Tuscan Sun433 reviews
Frances Mayes

Bantam Books Ltd, 1998

Under the Tuscan Sun
ISBN 0767900383 - As a fan of lists, I'm always curious about books that make bestseller lists. I rarely read them, but I'm always curious. This was the case with Under the Tuscan Sun until a rather beat-up, unsellable copy fell into my hands. My curiosity, but little else, has been satisfied. A recap of the plotline is usually the second paragraph for me. The trouble here is that this ...

Gone, Baby, Gone129 reviews
Dennis Lehane

Bantam Books Ltd, 2007

Absolutely engrossing!!
I had a hard time putting down this book. It raised moral and ethical issues all wrapped up in a tale of mystery and suspense. The surrounds the disappearance of a four year old who belongs to a worthless mother. What has become of her? Is she dead or alive. The answers to these questions are answered in the final parts of the book, but the ethical and morality issues dealt with remains ...

Sacred89 reviews
Dennis Lehane

Bantam Books Ltd, 1998

More twists, turns, and thrills than the best roller coaster
More twists, turns, and thrills than the best roller coaster Dennis Lehane always writes a good mystery. Sacred is one of his best. Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro are pushed to the limit in this exciting page turner. From Boston to Florida they prowl for the truth. Each time they think they have found it, it turns into another dead end. Hired by a very rich man to find his missing ...

Darkness, Take My Hand118 reviews
Dennis Lehane

Bantam Books Ltd, 1997

A Must-Read IF you have a strong stomach
This is an incredibly engrossing story. Be warned though--the violence is horrific. The murder descriptions are VERY disturbing but I never felt they were gratuitous. This is a fascinating story of friendship and family but it also shows the violence that both the most-twisted among us and ordinary citizens are capable of. Sometimes they are one and the same.

A Drink Before the War142 reviews
Dennis Lehane

Bantam Books Ltd, 1998

Incredible Introduction to Kenzie & Angie
Having already read later Lehane novels, this was an incredible introduction to the characters and an intriguing story weaving Boston politics and gangs. It is so much more than a mystery or thriller--Lehane really makes you care about all of the characters--including Bubba! The violence has repercussions--Patrick and Angie do what is necessary but not without being haunted by their actions.

Holy Cow! an Indian Adventure93 reviews
Sara MacDonald

Bantam Books Ltd, 2003

An Inside Look
I've made many trips to India. In that context, I quickly came to see that most books on India tend to be superficial: see this, see that, perhaps some history. In general there is little depth, and if anything spiritual is involved, little objectivity. It's the check your mind at the door thing that Westerners seem to do so well. I have found two books very useful for introducing visitors to ...
