Journey to Ixtlan48 reviews
Carlos Castaneda

Bodley Head Limited, 1973

To Carlos, with gratitude
Carlos Castaneda was one of the most controversial writers of the twentieth century. Some in academia branded him a fraud for claiming his stories were biographical rather than fiction, while lauding him as a great novelist for exposing a mass audience to otherwise inaccessible philosophical abstractions they claimed were largely plagiarized. Each of his works is a piece of a larger puzzle, which ...

Edna Buchanan

Bodley Head Limited, 1988

A fast paced book
Edna Buchanan has written a multi-faceted book about many of the crimes in Miami and the nearby area from her career as a crime reporter for local newspapers. She wrote about her childhood and the journey that led her to journalism. The author related how publicity usually aids in solving cases and apprehending the guilty, but not always. Mystery at its best
Peter Lovesey is one of my (and my husband's) favorite writers. In ROUGH CIDER he proves again what a marvelous storyteller he is. Being a mystery writer, I appreciate the skill it takes to weave a good plot. We want more stories, Peter!

Thomas Harris

Bodley Head Limited, 1982

Fantastic novel. . .
Red Dragon is an excellent book. Thomas Harris is a master of creating suspenseful stories. The characters that Harris creates fit into the story perfectly. Thomas Harris takes the reader on a psychological rollercoaster ride for the entire novel. Overall, Red Dragon is a must read novel. A+ for Thomas Harris and Red Dragon.

Robert Cameron

Bodley Head Limited, 1980

The flower of cities all...
Robert Cameron and Alistair Cooke teamed up to produce a wonderful visual account of London in the late 20th century, a stunning piece that will serve as a guide for generations of what London was like during this period. I know archaeologists who would sell their souls for such a record of previous historical periods. But, the historic value of such a record is probably not the reason to have ...

Bertie and the Tinman3 reviews
Peter Lovesey

Bodley Head Limited, 1989

Great Victorian Mystery Novel.
The background of the story is based on the true-life romance between Bertie, Prince of Wales and the beautiful Lady Daisy Brooke, Countess of Warwick. The setting is a country-house weekend at the estate of the latter, to which our sleuths have also been invited. Two murders occur, first that of a young servant and then that of a gentleman guest. Dark hints are dropped that many of the ...
