Great Book for a real estate investor
As a new real estate investor, I am always looking for ways to learn my trade and this one hit the mark. I read this book in less than 24 hours from purchase and intend on keeping it close by for every loan in the future. I now feel armed to at least hold an "intelligent conversation" with my mortgage broker on our next closing and know what to ask. While I found that my broker is on the "up ...
Cattoons
Linda Norton
Classic Day Publishing, 2005
Ariel and Frosty have written this book for your knowledge and enjoyment (although their "owner" Linda claims to have drawn it). If you've ever wondered what your cats are up to when you aren't at home, here's the inside scoop. Of course any cat's "tail" engages the usual cat activities. Scuba diving, planes, pursuing the ultimate fresh, tasty mouse toy and roast turkey. Destroying their owner's sleep and leaving messes where nobody can find ...

Great book every American/Non-American should get!
I recently purchased this book and am thrilled with the command its helped me achieve of the english language. This book contains idioms that are used in everyday American life, yet are not taught in school or to be found in traditional dictionaries. From a non-American stand point, I think this book is great in the sense that it allows one to converse in a fluent manner, incorporating natural ...

Great Insight/Tool
I found this book to be a great tool to add to my base of knowledge. As a CBE,Doula I come across women that have had previous abuse issues. This book gives you the awareness to handle (not treat) these issues in a sensitive way. It has different sections for Midwives,Doulas,CBE'S, ETC. I found it worth adding to the reference library.

An Excellent Read
An excellent read. A candid assessment of the high-minded qualities of many public men, and little know facts about the bigotry of many other historical figures, some of whom I previously held in high esteem. Nelson Adrian Blish Author of Ishmael's Son

Longshot, Seattle's team
Longshot, a book about Seattle's amateur basketball team in the 1950's that brought home the city's first national championship, comes on like a full court press. Well written and researched, Longshot, is about a group of athletes who worked for and were sponsored by a local bakery, and who played against teams underwritten by national corporations in a time before professional basketball ...

A Great Trip
I know very little about Seattle, I've never been there. I have to confess, I bought this book because I heard the photographs were all made with a plastic Diana camera, and I have a long standing love affair with the Diana. But Kathy Smith, and her camera, has taken me on a very enjoyable tour of the city, the real city, from the Space needle to the waterfront. From the public markets to the ...

Author comes by talent honestly
Writing the biography of a local businessman can and usually does) lead to a deadly read Not in this case! Not only because of the subject, whose life was truly interesting, but also because of the author's writing talent: a genetic gift (or curse)! A friend of my (and his) sister once asked me, "What makes all you Pierre's think you can write?" Anyway, this book will hold your ...

A real eye opener
I am a classmate of Alan Lobdell and a Mammographer by profession. I know from my professional point of view the "C" word can be quite devastating. When it does come up the patient and the family's lifes are totally turned upside down. This book was well written on a most difficult subject. The bullets at the end of each chapter help the husband with some answers. It is a real tear jerker ...
Tales from WWII You Probably Never Heard Before
Zed Merrill
Classic Day Publishing, 2003
Tales from WWII You Probably Never Heard Before is a rare collection of short war stories collected during research for Mr. Merrill's award winning video documentaries. The stories are quite unusual and in some cases, almost too incredible to believe. Some of the stoires were discovered hiding just beneath the surface of recorded incidents, while others came from the memories of ordinary people who experienced remarkable and often bizarre ...

I do not know baseball - Yet, I know more now than most experts
The game of baseball to a novice is just a field, players, bat, glove, ball and bases. Someone throws a ball at you that you try to hit with a bat in order to see how far you get around the bases before you get tagged out. Everytime you do you get a score. Everytime you tag someone out you could prevent a score. As with most games the highest score in the end wins!! Simple enough it seems. ...

Character Studies Abound
I found this book a wonderful change from the usual racing plot stories with no real character analysis. It rolled gently into the story like the highlands of Scotland where it is set, gaining momentum as it went. Rather than being a blood and thunder type of book, as one might expect of the early 19th century, it delved into the real thoughts and experiences of the people involved. MacLean's ...

Worth it for the "worm moon" alone!
I bought a brand new signed copy of this first edition paperback yesterday at a chain bookstore in Seattle. Cover price is $14.95. This book is fun and very informative, and brings a lot to an otherwise humdrum viewing of the weather forecast each night. I have trouble understanding the physics underlying certain weather visuals on tv - what causes fronts, the mechanics of high and low ...
