Great introduction to logic
It's no secret that I greatly admire Jessie Wise's The Well Trained Mind. It was Wise's recommendation that led me to the Mind Benders books, and my son and I learned a great deal working through the four A books. They were ample preparation for the more rigorous course of logic study we've undertaken this year. A word to others who have landed here because of Wise's book: Unless you are a ...

Mind Benders Warm Up4 reviews
Anita Harnadek

Critical Thinking Co, 1999

Warm up your child's mind
This workbook has been great in preparing my homeschooled children for logic courses and subsequent Mind Benders workbooks. The problems appear easy for adults, but children under eight or nine find them challenging and interesting. I strongly recommend this workbook before starting higher level logic books.

I have to make them stop!
Two of my children have worked through this logic book and loved every minute of it. I had to pace them so they wouldn't get the whole book done the first week!

Great book Kindergarten & pre-K
I loved using this with my kids. Very heavy weight paper, shiny so the colors really stand out. Held my kids attention well -- not easy to do! Develops skills in reading readiness, science, math & social studies.

A Case of Red Herrings A2 (Book A2)1 review

Critical Thinking Co, 1993

My Class says thank you!
I teach Adult Basic Education to people with 4th & 5th grade academic skills who are studying to take their GED tests. They said that the Red Herrings have really improved their reading skills! One student even said he'd have dropped out of math if we hadn't been doing the Red Herrings because after all these years he just learned how to note key words and concepts in reading, and also just ...

Organizing Thinking: Book II : Graphic Organizers (Book II)1 review
Sandra Parks

Organizing Thinking: Book II: Graphic Organizers
This is the best book for graphic organizers I have seen, and I have several. The first chapter provides blackline master graphs with instructions for using each one. The remaining chapters show the graphic organizers being utilized in specific lessons for the content areas. Completed examples are also provided. This book helped me understand graphic organizers so well that I now create my ...

Building Thinking Skills (Teacher's Manual)1 review
Howard Black, Sandra Parks

Critical Thinking Co, 1998

When my children took the Stanford Achievement Test,
they both scored well above grade level in everything except thinking skills. I heard about 'BTS' from a friend and thought it might help. After working with it just one year, they maxed out the thinking section of the test at the 99th percentile!

Mind Benders is amazing
Mind Benders is truly phenominal. The writers of it are amazing. It combines critical thinking skills with a great amount of logic depending on the level of the book. I highly reccomend it to people who use more advanced thinking skills, and would like to challenge themself.

A Case of Red Herrings A1 (Book A1)6 reviews

Fun Way to Learn Thinking Skills
We are a homeschooled family and my kids love this book. They beg for it. It is great because all of the age groups can do it together. The older ones can keep asking questions to help the younger ones figure it out. The problems help the kids to use their brain in a way that is not taught in the school system.
