Medical Students - Get this book
I am a medical student, and this book was recommended to me by the senior resident on my OB/Gyn clerkship. He said it provided a handy reference for H&P and admission orders, no matter what service you are on. We had a copy on reserve at our library and checked it out to see if it could really be useful. After looking it over, I bought it and have kept it in my white coat as a quick, easy ...

A Life Saver...literally.
My internship we had open ICU's...so virtually every night I was stuck caring for critical patients in one of the ICUs. As a transitional resident, I had no interest in reading the Marino ICU book (which was in need of some updating). This book has everything you need to survive and help you manage even very sick patients while on call at night. I carried this book and the Ferri book in my ...

Very helpful for taking and writing H&Ps.
This book breaks each chief complaint down into an H&P. It then tells you exactly the types of questions and physical exam findings you should look for given that chief complaint. Perfect for those (including myself!) who are still trying to figure out the relevant information for a given symptom/cc.

The best of the pocket references
I have used these guides for years. As a new grad I kept it in my lab coat as a *peripheral brain* and as an experieneced provider, I keep a copy close at hand. Great for looking up treatment modalities for problems seldom encountered.

Lacking
I like the previous Paul Chan books, but this one leaves a lot of information out. There is no ENT section, so AOM and otitis externa are not in there. The other ENT content is in the infectious disease section. I've always liked Dr. Chan's books, but was disappointed with this one.

beautifully simple
This book is exactly what it claims to be. It's a pocket-sized book and doesn't waste paper on any nonsense. It's very simply a list of psychotropic medications, their side effects, what they're used for, etc. It's not exactly enough for a reader to become a psychiatrist, but it's perfect for any counselor who wants to understand what their clients are taking and why.

Excellent pocket book for any psych rotation

This is a great reference handbook you can easily carry in your pocket, although it becomes apart quickly and it requires to be wire bound. Please, DO NOT spend $900.00 dollars or more in this small pocketbook!!! the original price is $[...]-$[...], the publishing house is working in the next edition, and although is true that the current one is out of print, it is nothing less than abusive to ...

A great quick reference in Anesthesiology
This a great quick review, suitable for medical students interested in Anesthesiology, as well as Residents and House-officers. It offers clear, concise information and guidlines in an easy to use format. It will be most helpful for those in need of a quick reference of anesthesia protocols and procedures. It is not detailed enough to serve as a primary text, but is more than adequate for a ...
