As already stated by the other reviewers, the DeLorme atlas & gazetteer is fantastic. I love the many points-of-interest features which other map products lack.
But if you're going to buy one, don't get this 2005 edition, go find the 2008 edition (such as on DeLorme's website). In addition to the road updates, the new one has GPS coordinates and more topographical info. I'm a little ...

Great road trip companion - with one modification
I was recently the navigator on a 10 day California coast road trip. I ordered the Delorme Atlas to serve as a back-up to my Nuvi GPS. The map is certainly is the better way for looking ahead for rest areas. Half way through the trip, the binding cracked and pages began to fall out. Great for hunting, camping, hiking & more...
Got this for deer and especially elk hunting season this year (2009). Worked great, but the scale is a bit high for even the smaller maps overall. I ended up scanning the page with my hunting area on it and blowing it up about 125% to 150% - and then used that when hiking/hunting. Worked great and covered just about all of the major and minor roads & trails where I was.

I have owned several of these in the past for other states but now that
I own property in Arkansas I needed to have one. It's always nice to
know all the backroads, swimming holes, interesting geographical features
and so on of an area. It makes it easier to identify local landmarks
such as "North Hole" when talking with locals. Great for hunting too.

These Delorme Atlas & Gazetters are wondeful. They show you many features not available through GPS, maps or other atlases. It is a great feature to have the BLM lands marked as well as the back roads. Good resources are also included in each states atlas. A good addition to anyone's travel tools.

I also own the Benchmark atlas of New Mexico, which is the only competition so far as I can tell. I don't use the Benchmark map, though. I wouldn't leave home without it.....
Living in rural Idaho, this guide is a must.
Is it 100% accurate? Well, no.....our roads are often dirt and change frequently, but it's accurate enough for 99.9% of the situations that drivers would put themselves in.
