Preparing for Birth With Yoga: Exercises for Pregnancy and Childbirth (Women's Health & Parenting) 2 reviews Janet Balaskas
Element Books Ltd, 1994
So helpful I wish I would have discovered this book with my previous two pregnancies. I found the information helpful regarding childbirth and pain management. I got great relief from back pain (I had physical therapy that didn't work the first two pregnancies) and relaxation through the yoga practice. I would recommend this book to any pregnant woman. It has made my pregnancy much more enjoyable.

Faith and Compassion: The Life and Work of Mother Teresa 4 reviews Raghu Rai, Navin Chawla
Element Books Ltd, 1996
Without Distinction Of Cast And Creedı Mother Teresa was one of the most remarkable people to have lived, and the only source of hope and happiness for those she and the Sisters of her order cared for. She lived in the 20th Century so her work is known, her actions are fact. She is not subject to the passing of centuries and the romanticizing, and embellishing, that time and lack of knowledge allows. She was an internationally ...

Jesus Lived in India: His Unknown Life Before and After the Crucifixion 24 reviews Holger Kersten
Element Books, 1994
Read this for substance, not style. "Jesus Lived in India" looks (and often reads) like a text book. But it is easy to dismiss this book because of the writing style. Don't read this for style, but for substance. Holger Kersten has taken the Nicholas Notovitch story of the Tibetan scrolls about Issa and given enough surrounding and supporting material to give color and context to the idea and notion that Jesus could indeed have ...

The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Essential Oils: The Complete Guide to the Use of Oils in Aromatherapy and ... 23 reviews Julia Lawless
Element Books, 1995
Your Aromatherapy library is not complete if you don't have the book If I had to have only two books in my Aromatherapy Library, this would be one of them, along with The Complete Guide to Aromatherapy, by Salvatore Battaglia. I have been an Aromatherapist since 2003, I know - a relatively short time - but a productive time, and I could not have accomplished what I have without this book. It is a very complete list - if not the best list - of essential oils ...

Talisman: Sacred Cities, Secret Faith 15 reviews Graham Hancock, Robert Bauval
Element Books, 2004
An Investigative Triumph! This is yet another brilliant journey of discovery in the company of Hancock and Bauval. After a lot of historical background the authors bring to light the Egyptian roots in the design (or wished for design) of cities such as Paris and London. The esoteric idea behind this is that the cities will become transmitters of (Divine)energy in the world and provoke wisdom in humanity in the same ...

Start Where You Are 28 reviews Pema Chodron
Element Books, 2005
Beautiful book I truly enjoyed this book as it awakened a sense of compassion for myself and others, with insight and humor Pema Chodron guided me to a state of joy, and well being. I also discovered the 59 traditional Tibetan Buddhist maxims and was able to relate them to every day life. This book reminded me of one of my favorite authors, Ariel and Shya Kane and their book Being Here: Modern Day Tales of ...

The Wisdom of No Escape and the Path of Loving Kindness 25 reviews Pema Chodron
Element Books, 2004
Very practical, accessible and well-written.... This is one of my favorite books by Pema Chodron. It not only does a very good job of describing the essence of Buddhism, but it goes beyond that in making Tibetan Buddhism more understandable and relevant to a Western audience without deveating from the tradition. In short, it contains the heart of the teachings of the Vajrayana. A nice complimentary book if you are interested in going deeper ...

The Complete Illustrated Guide to the Alexander Technique: A Practical Program for Health, Poise, and Fitness ... 6 reviews Glynn MacDonald
Element Books, 1998
Excellent introduction to the Alexander Technique I'm certified to teach the Technique and gave it up years ago, frustrated with explaining the same thing over and over to the incredulous. Describing the Technique to someone who's never had lessons is like describing chocolate to one who's never tasted it. Their eyes glaze over and they nod politely, but you know they still don't have a clue. But that all changed when I bought this wonderful ...

The Mayan Prophecies : Unlocking the Secrets of a Lost Civilization 25 reviews Adrian Gilbert, Maurice Cotterell
Element Books Ltd, 1996
Dodgy... The blurb on the back reads "The present world will end on 22 December 2012. So prophesied the Maya 5,000 years ago..." - yet on page 4 the authors indicate that the Maya appeared around 500AD, which by my reckoning is only 1,500 years ago.
Such internal inconsistencies riddle this book, and make it unreliable. On the face of it - and ignoring the 2012 prophecy, which uses some pretty ...

The New Holistic Herbal (Health Workbooks) 4 reviews David Hoffmann
Element Books, 1990
The book I end up going to every time I need information. I have many books dealing with herbs including many of the classics. This book is my "classic". No book gives the depth of information with a complete understanding of why a particular herb is used. Even though there are many herbs listed here that are not from North America, Mr. Hoffman has a variety to choose from and I've always been able to find what I need. It is concise and yet gives ...

The Complete Illustrated Holistic Herbal: A Safe and Practical Guide to Making and Using Herbal Remedies 7 reviews David Hoffmann
Element Books, 1996
One of the Best I own a later 2002 version of the 1996 book. Except for cover design the content has remained very much the same. That is one of the best available books on herbs and herbology. It shows the herb with a color photograph for those unfamiliar with what each herb looks like. It gives a detailed description of the herb amd exact formulas of how to use it singularly or in combination. There are other ...
