A very handy guide for Native New Yorkers & regular visitors
I donıt know how the conversation started, but I was at the Union Square store of a major competitor of Amazon, letıs just call it FarmStructures & Nobel Booksellers, and the security guard told me that he had relied on this book as a native New Yorker for years. So I bought it. And now *I* have relied on it for years. Whether you are looking for where the ıDı train crosses the ı7ı or where ...

Flashmaps - Great for the city!
Two crucial tips for NYC: have great maps and pack lightly. Flashmaps allows you to do both! This small book can be pulled out quickly and referenced without having to unfold a huge map. Multiple maps for subways and buses and shopping aren't needed because everything is contained in this booklet. It can be stashed in a coat pocket or small bag. I would recommend this to anyone visiting ...

Excellent guide
We were looking for a place to go on our honeymoon in the Caribbean, but could not decide on which island to choose. This guide provided a great table comparing all the islands based on hotels, restaurants, activities, etc. and then a detailed description of each island. Would definitely recomment as a great starting point in planning your Caribbean vacation.

Best travel guidebook I've ever come across
I'm not usually a guidebook fan, preferring instead to do tons of my own research from a variety of sources. Sometimes my friends ask if I'll plan their vacations for them, because I come across some of the most unusual and memorable places to stay that they've never heard of. This book had such special, wonderful information (and photos!) of so many charming and unusual places in Italy; it ...

Great pocket guide for a impressively bewildering city
Tackling a new American city is always a challenge but this little guide gave me a handful of essential "must-sees" with transportation and location all mapped out. It also helped identify the "must-not-sees" - very helpful when time is limited.

STILL the BEST of the BEST!
This is the book that has it all. Resorts, Restaurants, Parks, Attractions, Night Clubs, Sports, Kids, Family, Groups, Discounts, Charts, Ratings, Reviews, Tips, Tricks, Secrets, etc, etc. The information in this edition is still fresher and more accurate than any 1999 guidebook, and I should know, I visit WDW at least four times per year. Other guidebooks are just repackaged every year with ...

A "must have" for anyone visiting Washingon, D.C.
Washington, D.C. is the most unique city in the world. Whether you are visiting the area or live there, one cannot possibly know the wealth of information found in Washington, D.C. with Kids. I grew up in the area, but I have lived away for more than twenty years. Without this guide, I would have difficutly finding the places I want to see when I am back. I wish there had been such a book ...

awesome
Fodor's Citypacks are awesome. When traveling to large cities, I always pick up a Fodor's citypack. In addition to nice waterproof maps, the pack includes a 25 point of interest itinerary. So you can easily flip to a site of interest such as Buckingham Palace and the city pack provides a brief description, history, directions, cost of museum, and transportation. Very well organized.

Best take along guide for kids and adults.
This was the most helpful informative of all the books purchased or check out at the library. This small book and a good map got us through Paris each day. We never went any where without it, and it is small enough not to be bothersome.

Useful, easy to read format is well-organized with accurate information. Only useful as starting place ...

If you've ever dreamed of watching the sun set over the Sahara Desert, of visiting an oasis where dates drip off graceful palm trees or climbing up through green valleys to the peaks of snow-covered mountaintops, then "Escape to Morocco" will give you a taste of the possibilities. The poetic text written by author Pamela Windo renders the sensual quality of this mysterious North African ...

The Best Guide Book on Rome
These Fodor "See It" guide books are fabulous. Finally someone has gotten it right. Great information organized in a very usable way with terrific color photos and great maps..one for the sights, one for restaurants, one for hotels. And then many small maps of things to see in an area. Or a map showing just churches to visit, shops in an area, simple walks to take. With many photo guide books I ...

Great Travel Companion Book!
If you want a small lightweight book that has everything about New York, this is your book. Since New York has lots of sidestreets, and you can easily get lost there, you will love the maps and directions. The shopping section even has street maps with every single store on every single street! This book is great for shopping information.

Comprehensive Guidebook for the NYC Traveller
Amazon.com Readers, Just a note -- the building on the cover of this book is the Flatiron Building, not the WTC as another reader suggested. Within the past year, I bought a Fodor's guide to New York City. The guide I bought was the 2001 edition (not too much different from the 2002 edition), because I wanted to see what it said about the famous and not so famous places in New York City. I am a ...

Much imitated, never quite equaled
Still the best. Comprehensive, well organized, easy on the eyes, easy on the hands, and compact enough to take wherever you go. None of those fancy-schmancy pictures and other graphics that just distract you from what you're looking for. Of course, as with all guidebooks, sometimes the ratings make you wonder what they were smoking at the time; also I could do without those advertisement pages in ...

This book helped me have a wonderful week in London!
I just got back from spending spring break in London. This book, which stayed in my backpack, and the Lonely Planet's Condensed Guide, which stayed in my pocket, helped my mother and I have an incredible time. Rather than sticking to a rigid itinerary, we planned our day the night before, with a rough to-do list of places we wanted to see and things we had to do. Substantial background ...
