An Irish Country Doctor (Irish Country Books) 14 reviews Patrick Taylor
Forge Books, 2008
An Irish Country Doctor For me this book was an easy, quick, read that I could hardly put down. The dry, witty, humor gave me many laughs. I especially liked watching the relationship develop between the old, established, doctor and the young, new doctor. A very good read that I have passed on to others.

Blasphemy 113 reviews Douglas Preston
Forge Books, 2008
Excellent 'mysteries of the universe' thriller As an avid reader of thrillers, especially ones with a measure of the supernatural (these are also the types of books I like to write), Blasphemy is a book that I absolutely had to have based on the story description. It plumbs the depth of some of the most fascinating topics - the big bang, supercolliders, science & religion, the mysteries of the universe...what's not to love?! Blasphemy goes ...

People of the Weeping Eye (First North Americans) 5 reviews W. Michael Gear, Kathleen O'Neal Gear
Forge Books, 2008
superb ancient North American thriller Almost a millennium ago, an advanced civilization existed on what is now the Moundsville section of Alabama. Split Sky City had one thousand inhabitants with giant palisades and mounds built as a gate to protect the citizens. Like suburbs, additional villages were located nearby along the river and occasionally one tribe conquered another. Alligator Town has been attacked and the Chief Clan of ...

The Last Jihad (Political Thrillers Series #1) 213 reviews Joel C. Rosenberg
Forge Books, 2003
Wow! Thrilling and Thought-Provoking The back-story of this novel is almost as good as the book itself. Joel Rosenberg predicted terrorist attacks against the United States--even imagined they'd come in the form of kamikaze airplane attacks--BEFORE the events of 9/11. This book begins to paint a picture--drawn on his real world experience in and around the Middle East, Washington and elsewhere--about why today's events are unfolding ...

Amazing journey through pre-Columbian Central America Incredible journey through Central America before and up to the devastation that was the arrival of the Europeans. Gripping story with a lot of action wrapped in insightful historical perspective. Great characters and although the life of the main character may be a little too big to be one person's life the context and the environment through which he takes you is extremely believable and pretty ...

The Machiavelli Covenant 39 reviews Allan Folsom
Forge Books, 2006
I hope there's another installment....too good to end! "The Day After Tomorrow" is one of my all-time favorite novels and one I recommend constantly. So I had extremely high hopes when I stumbled upon "The Machiavelli Covenant," and it did not disappoint! [I had not read "The Exile" but it did't interfere with my enjoyment or understanding of this book.]
I am so confused by the negative reviews of this book, since I thought it was supurb from ...

The Lance Thrower (The Camulod Chronicles, Book 8) 35 reviews Jack Whyte
Forge Books, 2005
The Lance Thrower - Jack Whyte A friend, who knows my taste in books put me on to Jack Whyte some time ago. I found a copy of The Skystone, read it, then went out and bought the rest of the series. The Lance Thrower continues with what I describe as a 'can't put down' book. Mr Whyte certainly knows how to capture one's attention and I love the way a jolly good yarn is woven around a little of the history of Britain. An awesome ...

Rebekah (Women of Genesis) 32 reviews Orson Scott Card
Forge Books, 2002
Moving and engaging This novel by Orson Scott Card about the life of the matriarch Rebekah, is at once moving and engaging.
Unlike some novels, such as Sarah by Marek Halter and The Red Tent, by Anita Diamant, where the women are portayed as worshiping idols and other gods, she is shown as a strong women, devoted to the service of Yahweh since she was little, as are the other matriarchs in the Women of Genesis ...

The Time It Never Rained 9 reviews Elmer Kelton
Forge Books, 2008
Drought, civilization and compromise This book is unlike any of Kelton's other works. The time setting is the 1950s and the seven-year drought we experienced during those years. The plot/theme is the end of the era of independence and freedom among cow men ... the time when they told themselves the drought forced them to sell themselves to the government to receive hay in return for their souls and their pasts. I think of this ...

Worker in the Light: Unlock Your Five Senses and Liberate Your Limitless Potential 47 reviews George Noory, William J. Birnes
Forge Books, 2007
One Star is One Star Too Many George Noory is no Art Bell. He is ignorant of many of the subjects on which he interviews people, and you can occasionally hear a smirk in his voice when he's talking to a caller. He does occasionally have an interesting guest, but C2C generally has become drivel since Art Bell's latest retirement. I sure hope that he comes back. The book is as bad as the show. It is a surface treatment of ...
