Immunology 7th Ed. (Janeway's) is a GREAT IMMUNOLOGY TEXT!!!
I highly recommend this text to any profession, undergrad, and/or grad interested in pursuing a career in immunology, microbiology, or molecular. It is very detailed and easy to read. Plus, if you buy new version, the CD is very useful to watch video clips of important, yet complex topics.

Overall excellent text, and great for beginners
I'm a beginner at immunology, and I have almost no immunological background. My boss, who is a medical doctor that's published and has been cited in this book, recommended this book to me, so that I may catch up to understand his research and build a foundation in immunology. This is one of the only books I've ever been able to read on my own and actually understand and digest all the ...

Excellent book! The diagrams are great!
I'm a second year medical student and I used this book for my first year immunology course. My school has a strong immunology course and the syllabus is almost able to stand on its own without a textbook. The important thing is - our syllabus uses the diagrams from Parham's book! Now that I am studying for boards, I am so happy that I can I look at these diagrams to make sense of complicated ...

Great Book
This is a great book, and gets better with each edition. If you are taking cell biology out of MBOTC, and don't have this book, you're playing with one hand tied behind your back. And if you're just reading MBOTC for fun, get this book, do the problems, and you'll learn more than you would in many University level cell biology courses.

The last reviewer's frustration is understandable given that this book is really meant for the medical student who has taken physiology, pathophysiology and pharmacology in detail and has some clinical experience. It is most helpful for the senior medical student or resident taking an immunology elective--and even the immunologist studying for board exams! The reader must be already familiar ...

A fitting textbook from a probable future Nobel laureate
First you must consider whom the author is- Dr. Weinberg is a member of the national academy of science and one of the most famous researchers in cancer biology, as he discovered what is still the most important oncogene in Ras, as well as probably the second most important tumor suppressor in Rb. Of course, he's done a lot more than just that (too many contributions to list), and he's still at ...

A Fascinating Book of Molecular Cell Biology
I have bought all previous editions and I have to recognize that each edition is better than the old one. This is a fascinating textbook that is clearly written and the authors do an excellent job explaining things, including superb illustrations. The DVD media is not so good. Highly recommended, especially for undergraduate students. However, at later stages of your career, these textbooks are ...

Books available online
Dr Dotson's comments on the price of textbooks are well taken, but he maybe should have mentioned that the previous (4th) edition of MBOTC was available online for free for at least the last two years, at [...] along with many other fine health science and molecular biology books, many of them the most recent edition, some down loadable as PDFs. It remains to be seen if Bruce Alberts can ...

Want to understand the physics if life? Need to read this!
The topic of this book, the physical chemistry of molecules, especially those relevant to biology, is one of the most challenging courses to a college student in chemist. But these authors have tried to make it easy for you - and they succeed. They used figures, pictures and analogies to help you to understand some of the most sophisticated concepts in science. For example entropy. The ...

Basics of Protein Structure - Great for revision!
I used this book a lot for one of my undergraduate courses three years back. It's excellent at explaining the fundamentals of protein structure, it's written very clearly and the diagrams are easy to understand and appropriate. I found it particularly useful when studying immunology, the explanation of immunoglobulin structure, splicing, and mechanism of action was better than some of the other ...

Essential reading
Clearly laid out like one of the classic undergraduate textbooks (e.g. Genes VII, Albers et al.), this is the only up-to-date introduction in the field. The authors make great efforts to link advances in genetics to other fields (e.g. linguistics, anthropology), as well as to organise chapters around key issues such as the spread of agriculture, offering space to key authors in these associated ...

Great book!
This is a great book! It takes some VERY difficult concepts and makes them much easier to understand. The way that the book is organized also provides a nice logical flow. Also, the CD that comes with the book has all of the figures and powerpoint slides of the figures on it, which makes for a nice study tool.

Mainly steady-state, and entirely chemical
The senior author (Cleland) had perhaps the greatest influence of anyone on the practice of enzyme kinetics during the 1960s and 1970s, as witnessed by the very large number of papers from that period that acknowledge his contribution to the work presented, and by the large number of papers that continue to use his terminology and way of representing reaction mechanisms. (Younger biochemists will ...
