Great Classics
If you're familiar with Matheson's work, you may have read a few of these tales already. Even if you have, revisiting some of them won't bother you a bit, since Matheson writes so well. The stories, which include gems like "The Children of Noah" and "Wet Straw" are the kind of tales that give you a shiver with their twist endings, and leave you wanting more. Great classics from a master.

Oh My Goodness!!
Simply put: If there were more books like this, more people would read horror. This is without a doubt the scariest book I have EVER read, and I've read 'em all--- King, Laymon, Little, Lee, et al. For the last 1/4 of this book I could literally feel my heart hammering in my chest. Ketchum does something very few horror authors do effectively: he lets us slowly get to know his characters ...

The lethal sex
Ladies' Night trades on a fundamental male fear: namely, what if the women in our lives suddenly turned on us? Ketchum answers that question in typically brutal fashion, positing a scenario wherein New York City becomes a battleground in the ongoing war of the sexes. The story begins when a chemical tanker collides with a car near 72nd Street and Broadway, spilling its sweet smelling ...

THE LATEST COLLECTION FROM POPPY
In her first new collection in a couple of years, Poppy Z. Brites "The Devil you Know" focuses many of its stories in and around her beloved New Orleans and often travels in the restaurant world (her husband is a chef). Less gothic than her previous works, one might even consider "The Devil You Know" somewhat whimsical in certain spots. She certainly is prone to using humor and irony more so ...

The Best of the Best
It's little wonder that Richard Matheson is considered a living legend. His works helped to define my generation, and his words encompassed the very world in which I have lived. Indeed, there is hardly an American living today who has not been touched in some way by Mr. Matheson's imagination. This, the first of two volumes collecting previously uncollected works from the huge canon of Mr. ...

The is no one better than Brabbury at evoking bizarre and detailed imagery
When it comes to using words to evoke bizarre and stimulating imagery, there is no one better than Ray Bradbury. This book is an adventure conducted by young male trick-or-treaters on a spooky Halloween night. They walk up to the door of the local haunted house and somehow one of them, a boy named Pip, is whisked away to a bizarre place. The mysterious Carapace Clavicle Moundshroud agrees to help ...

Twisted Tale of Captivity
Jack Ketchum delivers another discomforting look at the dark side of human nature. A bizarre, sadistic couple of right-to-lifers kidnap a pregnant woman in front of an abortion clinic, hold her captive and engage in various forms of physical, psychological and sexual torture. I don't know why, but I couldn't put it down. Very graphic and descriptive as Ketchum tends to be. Not for the ...

amazing stories
Before the newly released version of "I am Legend" with Will Smith, i never heard of Richard Matheson. However after seeing the movie and reading a few of his stories i am convinced that the man is a great and compelling writer. I have never been a fan of reading short stories because i always felt that there was never enough time to get to know the characters that you are reading about. ...

Can't Sleep...Can't Sleep...Can't Sleep.......
Sleep disorder is a rare book that is truly worth the cost of finding, if you are a fan of Ketchum and Lee. There are seven stories in all, 5 stories, plus 2 more that are the original first drafts of ?Sleep Disorder? and ?I?d Give Anything for You.? Whenever you put Edward Lee and Jack Ketchum together, it spells horror in a highly entertaining and gruesome way. Fantastic collection, don?t ...

A New Novel From Richard Matheson!
This is more than a book; this is an event! A brand new novel from the legendary Richard Matheson! Did I devour this novel like a starving cur? Yes! Did I love it? YES! YES! YES! And you will love it, too. Mr. Matheson returns to his suspense-terror roots with Woman, a heart-clenching and very adult story about the war between the sexes. When an odd young woman named Ganine Woodbury slips ...

Brilliant short stories -- Ms. Brite is a gifted writer!
Having read Liquor, I wanted to read more of Poppy Z. Brite's work. Are You Loathsome Tonight? is quite a surprise. I hadn't expected this sort of writing from Ms. Brite, but I'd been told that this work is right on her alley and that she had branched out of the gothic genre with Liquor. These short stories are a mixture of gothic, paranormal and magic realism with some adult fairy tale elements ...

Dark and disturbing ... and menacingly realistic
My first encounter with Jack Ketchum's work was reading his novel 'Red'. A somewhat slim book, I finished reading it in one day. You know if a book is going to be worthwhile usually after the first couple of chapters, and the time spent reading 'Red' was thoroughly worthwhile. It still remains one of the best pieces of fiction I have encountered, which brings me to ... ... 'Only Child'. Like ...

Classic Scripts By a Master of Suspense
"The Twilight Zone" has long been acknowledged as a television classic. Not only can episodes still be seen on the SciFi Channel, but the show has also proven to be a durable video and DVD best seller. The stories presented on the show are intelligent and have a timeless quality and charm about them that makes even repeated viewings seem new. One of the main reasons for this is the contributions ...
