The Art of French Country Living (Travel & Style)
Jean Naudin, Colette Gouvion

Hachette Illustrated, 2005

It's the private face of France—the intimate scenes that natives know so well: quiet country landscapes between rolling farm fields, delightful walled gardens, the regional architecture of traditional homes, the intimate spaces inside them. French Country Living is a breathtaking photographic glimpse into the private palate—the styles, the colors, the ambience—of life in the French countryside. Here, in dramatic, full-page ...

Hachette Illustrated, 2006

Need to know about cheese?
This is a great book. I am in culinary arts school and I've used this quite a bit in school. It's also a good book if you just want to learn more about cheese and you love cheese.

Dictionary of Dreams: Interpretation and Understanding2 reviews
Didier Colin

Hachette Illustrated UK, 2003

Pretty thorough and works well for me
The thing that really caught my attention when I saw this in the bookstore was the fact that it came with a set of cards to help with the dream interpretation, almost like a miniature tarot deck made of four basic symbols. There is a section in the back that fully explains the meaning of the combination of cards that you draw that can be combined with the other half of the book that explains the ...

Paris From Above4 reviews
Yann Arthus-Bertrand

Hachette Illustrated, 2006

Wonderful -- like Jack said -- but not sooo "short"
I am writing mostly in response to the comments from Dr J E Robinson (Jack in Toronto). I share Jack's general appraisal that this is a "wonderful" book and "the photos are stunning." However, I felt that Jack's references to the book's size/length ("short book...not big....all too short") might unduly discourage potential buyers. This is a magnificent book, over-sized, with many double-paged, ...

Blinis & Crepes1 review
Camille Le Foll

Hachette Illustrated, 2006

Beautiful and Tasty !
I bought this as a gift and I have to say it's one of the more beautiful cooking books I've gotten recently. Delicious looking photos and step by step instructions are included for every mouth watering recipe. I especially like the fact that the differences between crepes, pancakes and blinis are discussed. Both savory and sweet recipies are included. Easy to follow instructions for novices and ...

Make Your Own Contemporary Quilts (Hachette General Reference)9 reviews

Hachette Illustrated, 2006

Something beyond country crafting
I was looking for something that offered a different approach from appliqued flowers and standard flowery blocks and I wasnt disappointed. I also wanted to be able to make quilts that used "preloved fabrics" couragously and in particular embroidered doilies that had seen better days. Instructions are easy to follow and the patterns are simple but inspiring -I'm happy!

Celts4 reviews
Venceslas Kruta

Hachette Illustrated UK, 2005

The Celts is the definitive book on the history of all Celts
This is by far the most thorough book on the Celtic people who once inhabited all of Europe. The authors cover their history, art, archaeological digs, clothing, food, migration paths, jewelry, and everything else having to do with the Celtic people. When they discuss the early Celtic religions, they are honest enough to say that very little is actually known. The Celts is a treasure trove of ...

Hachette Illustrated, 2005

A beautiful exploration of the Yoga tradition
THE SPIRIT OF YOGA is truly a beautiful book. Part educational text, part testimonial by master practitioners, part collection of stunning and inspirational photography, this book has it all. I am a Yoga newcomer, and I found THE SPIRIT OF YOGA to be very helpful. It makes me wonder why I didn't find Yoga sooner.

Make Your Own Handbags2 reviews
Celine Dupuy, Dominique Turbe

Hachette Illustrated, 2004

Get this one !
I own this book and it's a favorite. I have the french version which is called "Sacs de filles". You'll find 8 spring/summer bags to make, 8 fall/winter bags and 8 differents ideas for embellishing existing bags. Those bags are very different, going from the big travel tote, to the stylish handbag or the casual one. The picture on the cover is a fall/winter one simply call "handbag" and ...

Make Up3 reviews
Alain Rustenholz

Hachette Illustrated UK, 2003

Great photos, informational, and fun
If you love cosmetics, you'll probably enjoy this book, which was written by a French journalist. There are wonderful photos illustrating historical and cultural information (mostly Western European and Asian). It's not a "how-to" book, but for makeup artists, the photos are invaluable for reference and inspiration.

Cheeses Of The World: A Season by Season Guide To Buying, Storing and Serving2 reviews

all about cheeses with great color photos
Numerous cheeses are dealt with according to the season when they are made, with mention of why the particular season is the right time. The four major sections contain general material and information on the specific cheeses of the season. Color photographs of varying sizes from double-page and full-page to smaller complement the entertaining and informative text. The photographs of particular ...

Tiny Tastes & Mini Bites1 review
Thierry Roussillon

Hachette Illustrated, 2006

not worth the cover price
Tiny, yes a tiny book that is not packed with information. Nice pictures but so few recipes that even the pictures can't make up of the lack of substance. I might be nice if you were putting together a gift basket for someone and could get it for a few dollars ($5.00 max in my opinion) but other than that I wouldn't bother.
