Elmore Leonard

HarperTorch, 2002

Entertaining, but no masterpice!
This novel was definitely entertaining. It served its purpose. It gave me something to read that held my attention. As most Leonard novels, there is plenty of hip lines, drug use, sex, and of course the crime. I do not generally enjoy Leonard's novels. I enjoy the movies that are made from them. After reading "Unknown Man #89" and being extremely disappointed, it has been a few years ...

She Does It Again
McCaffrey never disappoints. This is another winner in a wonderful series. My only disappointment was the "cliff hanger" ending. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

HarperTorch, 2004

Excellent!
This book is an excellent ending to a great series. If you liked the five previous books of this series you are going to enjoy this one also. I would have to say that it was the best book of the series. I could have done without the cliff hanger about Acorna's daughter only because it makes me want to read the series, Acorna's Children. :D

Abandon Ship!34 reviews
Richard F. Newcomb

HarperTorch, 2001

Damn That Torpedo
As a teenager in the early sixties I caddied for Charlie McVay frequently at the Litchfield Country Club, in Litchfield, CT. We thought then that we knew the story of the sinking of the Indianapolis, and we thought then that we knew the man who had been held responsible for the tragic loss of life, hours before the end of World War II. But it wasn't until Richard Newcomb's Abandon Ship! that ...

Chuck Logan

HarperTorch, 2003

First Logan novel.
This is my frst Chuck Logan novel and I have to say it will not be my last! Starting with a very exciting camping / canoe trip to supposed murder, this haunted ex-cop with a world of problems of his own goes on to win out in the very cold Minnasota winter. Good story telling!

The Aging Parent Handbook1 review
Virginia Schomp

HarperTorch, 1997

Excellent Resource for Baby Boomers Caring for Parents
I had acquired this book when it first came out and put it in the bookcase. As my parents got older, I found myself pulling it off the shelf more and more. It is a great resource. It answered questions I hadn't even thought of. A tremendous amount of research and work went into this book and I'm really disappointed that it's not being published anymore. If you are finding yourself starting ...

Ain't She Sweet?132 reviews
Susan Elizabeth Phillips

HarperTorch, 2005

Superb! Smart lines.
The Heroine is unlike any heroine I've ever read about. Growing up, she was the 'Mean Girl'. The author did such a superb job making the reader sympathetic to her character, not because she was 'blameless', but because she realized her errors the hard way and turned herself around. I'm sure we all have done things in the past that we wish we could go back and correct. It made me cheer Sugar ...

Mary Stewart

She Paints Pictures
I have loved every novel written by Mary Stewart, some more than others. I read this one well over twenty years ago and many times since then. It is one of my many favorite of her books. In her books you get to travel; you feel as if you are really there. I have wanted to visit almost every place I have visited in her books. I too had pledged to see the Lippizaner stallions someday & I ...
